The Key Success Factors of Implementing an ERP System --Viewpoints from the Software Consultant Company

Kuo, Shu-mao 13 July 2005 (has links)
Abstract Implementing an ERP system has become the primary consideration for many enterprises during processing E-commerce. It has also become the data platform of information foundation construction in many enterprises. Among these implementation cases, however, some are facing failures due to the following reasons: the organization business flow is unable to make changes coordinately, the consultant companies lack of experience, or the user sites are being resisted while implementing an ERP system. All the mentioned reasons have caused their ERP project delay by deadline. This, therefore, results in the huge increase of the cost and even an abnormal operation system during the implementation. Eventually the enterprises would have to make an announcement to fail. The management and control of implementing an ERP system decides the success of the system. The subject of this study is to probe into the process of implementing an ERP system. Beginning with the sort-out of Chinese and foreign documents to find out the key success factors during the process of implementing an ERP system and then collecting the realistic data from the software company¡¦s viewpoints to understand the concrete methods of key success factors. The software consultant company, therefore, plays an important role during the process of implementing an ERP system. We, hereto, generalize the viewpoints of high-level administrators, the project manager, the senior consultants and the technicians about the key success factors during the process of implementing an ERP system from the software consultant company¡¦s angle. After that, the practical perspectives of the software consultant company are being discussed and analyzed to verify if there is any difference with the results which were generalized from probing the documents. Results of this study have shown that the most important key success factors are ' the commitment and support of high-level administrators ', ' the integration degree of other systems' and ' the procedure innovation'. The secondary key factors are ' the production operation characteristic 'and ' the interdepartmental characteristic '. The key factor that is not important is ¡¥the methods of systems implement¡¦. In spite of the existing large number of researches about ERP, the ones discussed from the software consultant company¡¦s point of views are quite few. This study probes into from software consultant company¡¦s viewpoints and to collect related key success factors while hoping to be a reference for other consultant companies and relevant units in implementing ERP system. HSIAO, YUAN-LIN 01 August 2005 (has links)
Abstract There have been lots of M&A, alliance and restructuring activities occurred in the chemical industry all over the world since 2001. In order to operate the business successfully, the best way is through innovation instead of taking restructuring, cost down and/or M&A strategy only. Usually, chemical material should be well mixed or prepared to get unique properties for application. R&D and innovation are the good solutions. Under such circumstances, in order to win the game and even to survive, the chemical firms need to make changes of their products to be more value-added and keep their sustaining competitive advantages . This study has surveyed the questionnaires which were answered from the high value-added chemical firms, government, educational and research institutes. Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) was adopted for analysis. Our findings are: 1. The ratings of the importance in the second level of AHP are: ¡]1¡^The members participating in the innovation ¡]2¡^Organization system ¡]3¡^Protection of innovation ¡]4¡^Environment of the firm 2. The top five important factors in the third level of AHP are: ¡]1¡^Opinions from the industry---communication ability of the R&D director, firm secrecy protection mechanism, CTO can make the consequences of decisions for R&D innovation activities to take, relationship between firms and customers, participation of the R&D director in corporate strategy formulation ¡]2¡^Opinions from the government, educational and research institutes--- organizational culture of supporting venture and tolerating mistakes in the innovation process, CTO can make the consequences of decisions for R&D innovation activities to take, communication ability of the R&D director, firm secrecy protection mechanism, participation of the R&D director in corporate strategy formulation ¡]3¡^Opinions from the industry, government, educational and research institutes--- communication ability of the R&D director, firm secrecy protection mechanism, CTO can make the consequences of decisions for R&D innovation activities to take, participation of the R&D director in corporate strategy formulation ,organizational culture of supporting venture and tolerating mistakes

A study of Quality Function Deployment(QFD) on domestic construction of warships

Ho, Tsai-mao 19 June 2006 (has links)
The ocean covers more than 70% of the earth¡¦s surface. Taiwan is surrounded by the sea. The defense of the coastal areas and territorial waters depends on the navy, and the navy must make use of various types of warships to exercise command of the sea and safeguard marine peace. With the development of science and technology, weaponry today is more complicated. In order to meet the demand for fighting, warships have higher particularity and complexity than commercial ships. So during the construction of warships we must control the quality of shipbuilding, and guarantee that every performance of a warship can match the demands of fighting, and reach the best result of fighting applications. Based on the government policy of "domestic construction of warships", and the downsizing program of the military. This thesis will start from documented discussions, according to the characteristics of warships¡¦ construction, and adopt the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) to exploit multi-estimate criteria models of the naval supervisors and the shipyard operation system. Then calculate the weights of all the characteristics and use the Quality Function Deployment (QFD) to build up the house of quality. This study will combine the theoretical and actual experiences to discuss the relation between the demands of the customer (navy) and the shipyard operation system. Several recommendations have been made in order to improve overall performance of the domestic construction of warships. We hope that domestic shipbuilding corporations can do long-term planning and investment on the construction of warships. The navy can also perform warships¡¦ construction frugally and independently. In this way, the navy and the domestic shipbuilding corporations can understand each other better and get the best benefits.

Yao, Yung-Chang 25 June 2003 (has links)
In the recent era, the popularity of Internet and multimedia has displayed technical progress, which has enabled E-learning environment to be even more perfect than before. E-learning has two-way interaction and the characteristic of unlimited time and space, which has become an important tool for initiating learning for life in the modern society. Among which Cyber University has become an example of E-learning applications. Because our national law has not allowed setting up a purely virtual university, therefore, the Cyber University of our research is pointing to the virtual school designed by a real university on the Internet. Cyber University is not purely a single organization, instead, it combined different educational provider on the Internet to actualize the objective of teaching and learning, as well as letting a learner to depend on the differences in his personal time, place, and learning condition to choose appropriate learning resource. Nevertheless, How to go about setting up a Cyber University based on the possession of administration resource, faculty, and the college of the student? What are the critical success factors that can be applied to evaluate the important items prior to establishment? How does Cyber University operation mode operate? These are all the important factors that must be considered to establish a Cyber University. The objective of research is to provide a soluble proposal as reference for the above stated questions. Our research utilized case study. The objective is National Sun Yat-Sen Cyber University (NSYCU) of National Sun Yat-sen University (NSYU). Jung-Chun Su (2002) had once used NSYCU as case study to simulate cash flow and risk analysis. The result has shown that NSYCU case is worthy to invest in, which possess ability to make a profit. Chia-Ming Liang had used operation model and financial planning model to research, which showed that ¡§Population of students¡¨ is a critical factor that affects the operation of E-learning Company. Currently, NSYCU has already been set up for more than five years and the enrollment has shown increased. Despite the effective of literature review or enrollment, it can be shown that NSYU is definitely one of representative of our domestic Cyber Universities. Our research will interview with key figures of five different aspects from areas such as marketing, administration, system, faculty, and student of NSYU. Then, to use professional questionnaire to further confirm the viewpoint of the interview. Finally, to combine the related literature review with NSYCU history data analysis, to categorize the critical success factor that set up Cyber University and to provide some suggestions for other schools domestically that have proposed to set up a Cyber University as reference.

Find the key successfactors to manage aerobics clubs

Chen, Wang-ling 11 September 2007 (has links)
The body-mind deterioration induced by speedy life style and working pressure is a common problem to the people in modern society. So it becomes more and more popular to take good care of one¡¦s health by exercising, which also promotes the development of professional sport and leisure business, for example, the aerobics club. But due to the economic depression, decrease in national income, and the impact of card debt, the operating conditions of many famous aerobic clubs are getting severe, even some of them close down. Therefore it is important to find the key success factors to manage aerobics clubs, so as to increase the probability of successful operation. The present study starts from collecting the relative references of sport and leisure business, aerobics, theory of decision-making management, and key success factors as well as their relative weighting. Then a Habitual Domains (HD) theory which is suitable to the characteristic of aerobics business is selected to analyze the key success factors. A multi-object decision-making method- Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) is also implemented to analyze the two questionnaires filled by professionals. Finally, the Expert Choice 2000 code is used to analyze the importance of key success factors and perform weighting calculation. Through the empirical analysis, the top priorities of key success factors of aerobics club operation are obtained, including the professionalism of coach, quality of service and software/hardware equipment. The operator of an aerobics club can follow the importance of priorities discussed in the present study to set up his own competitiveness, and then the aerobics club is assured to run permanently.

Hsu, Hui-Cheng 18 August 2008 (has links)
The Executive Yuan of Taiwan has launched many policies to encourage the county and city governments to develop their own different festivals. This new movement has pushed the festival industry, a new subsidiary industry of MICE, to a new phase of rapid growth. However, from 2005, the development of festivals in Taiwan has met some problems and hazards after a rapid growth in quantity and scale. It will be very helpful to enhance the quality and competitiveness and to develop the internationalization of Taiwan festivals if we can analyz and research the developing processs, key success factors and developing strategies of Taiwan festivals industry. A successful festival not only consists of good planning and execution but also the attractive and unique topic and content. Therefore, it will become an important topic for research on key success factors of Taiwan festivals. This research will focus on three different cases of festivals, Pingtung Bluefin Tuna Cultural Festival, Kaohsiung Lantern Festival and Kaohsiung International Container Arts Festival. Some key success facets and factors of festivals will be analyzed by AHP(Analysis Hierarchy Process). The interviewees include festival industry corporations, governments and non-profit organazations. The quality analysis and AHP questionnaire has been used to analyze the key success factors and the key points of managing Taiwan festival. At last, this research also discussed the competitiveness of whole festival industry in Taiwan by using the tools of Diamond Model of Competitiveness of Michael Porter. We also summarized many experts¡¦ viewpoints to a six developing strategies, those are developing a systemic research on festivals, enforcing the planning and management of festivals, setting rules of festivals and festival organizations, promoting festival brands, enriching the interchanges of international zones, and enforcing variable marketing and promotions. A Study of Management System for Medical Quality to Buccal Cancer Patients at E-Da Hospital

Feng, Guan-ming 25 August 2008 (has links)
In recent years, the buccal cancer in Taiwan has been ranked the fourth among the top ten leading causes of cancer death, and the first among people at the prime age ( 25 ~ 44 years old ). Since people at the prime age are usually the main bread winners in the family and the main contributors in the economic development of the society, how to prevent the occurrences of buccal cancers or how to provide proper medical service to buccal cancer patients has become an urgent topic of the present medical industry. It is pointed out that the incidence of buccal cancers is frequently related to men¡¦s smoking, diet habit and their chewing of betel nuts. Especially in Kaohsiung-Pingtung area in southern Taiwan, the population of chewing betel nuts is much higher than that in other metropolitan cities. Thus, the incidence of buccal cancers is in vogue in this area. The aim of the present study is to discuss the key factors affecting the quality of medical treatment on buccal cancer patients under the management system of E-Da Hospital. Based on this model, we wish to further apply it to other disease treatments as well and to make E-Da Hospital become a characteristic medical center in the near future. This thesis adopts the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) to exploit the multi-estimate criteria models of the medical quality. The first layer is the key factor for medical quality to buccal cancer patients at E-Da Hospital. The second evaluation criterion is divided into three aspects: namely, ¡§the hospital image of medical service¡¨, ¡§the available administrative resources¡¨, and ¡§ the convenience for patients¡¦ taking medical treatment¡¨. The third layer is the twelve evaluation characteristics. From this point of view, we can easily understand why patients choose E-Da Hospital as their priority. The interviewed participants are composed of the surgeons, the nursing staff, the administration personnel at E-Da Hospital, and the buccal cancer patients and their family members. Fifteen effective questionnaires are collected. Based on the Analytic Hierarchy Process, each subject is interviewed throughout and the result is verified by ANOVA. Based on the present study, we have found that the key factors of the management system for medical quality to buccal cancer patients at E-Da hospital are listed below in sequence---¡§the hospital image of medical service¡¨, ¡§the convenience for patients¡¦ taking medical treatment¡¨, and then ¡§the available administrative resources¡¨. Among the twelve evaluation characteristics, the critical top five ones are ¡§medical team work¡¨, ¡§medical effects¡¨, ¡§equipment novelty¡¨, ¡§home visit after operation¡¨ and ¡§ the convenience of transportation¡¨ in order. Several recommendations have been made to hopefully improve the management system and medical quality at E-Da hospital by strengthening the in-job training to the physicians and nurses and renovating medical equipment continuously. Besides, it is expected to set up buccal cancer patient club in the near future in order to achieve ¡§the Five Whole Attendance of Cares¡¨ - the whole person, the whole family, the whole team, the whole journey, and the whole community. Meanwhile, some proposals have also been made to the related health departments of the government so as to promote education on cancer prevention, to create and develop economic & effective cancer sieve checks in order to reduce the possible waste on the consumption of the medical resources and make them benecifical to the health for all. In so doing, we hope that our government can stress its long-term planning and investment on improving its medical service and enhance its medical quality thereby.

Study on the key success factors for developing attire of healthful material

Wang, Kai-sen 03 June 2009 (has links)
Human beings¡¦ attire evolves, starting from having the functions of providing comfort and keeping warm in the primary stage, and then it is for looking good and fashion; then, attire becomes the symbol of demonstrating personal taste, fashion and social identity; finally, it evolves into the tendency to demonstrate personal value¡X the value performance of health tendency, environmental protection appeal, and green consumption. As the era evolves, consumers¡¦ demand and preferences have different tendencies. Under the planning of market segmentation, aiming at the attire materials based on health appeal, we hope to understand further: in such an era with fast changes in upgraded techniques, consumers¡¦ preferences and prices, what factors make consumers choose and buy? Hence, when companies are making product and marketing plans further, they can make them exquisite and conform to trendy fashion. Therefore, this study has explored the key success factors aimed at developing attire of healthful materials. Through questionnaire surveys for experts and scholars on the study of the key success factors aimed at developing attire of healthful materials, this study had made two times of analyses of AHP verification and statistics, in order to verify and extend the gained results by AHP. The study results in the second time have been adopted, and the following viewpoints have been proposed at the same time: 1. As for the study on the key success factors for developing attire of healthful materials, through two times of AHP data analyses, this study is of the opinion that the key factors are the six items: ¡§physiological comfort¡¨, ¡§functionality capability¡¨, ¡§manufacturing quality and craft techniques¡¨, ¡§style and design, ergonomics¡¨, ¡§user experience¡¨ and ¡§price¡¨. 2. In the evaluation indicators chosen for the third-layer reference plan in the structure of this study, when the direction is based on developing attire of healthful materials, obviously silk material is superior to organic cotton, while organic cotton is superior to bamboo-carbon fiber. 3. Under different considerations, silk material possesses considerably large advantage in the four key factors: ¡§physiological comfort¡¨, ¡§manufacturing quality and craft techniques¡¨, ¡§user experience¡¨ , and ¡§declaring personality and personal value¡¨. Organic cotton also possesses considerable advantage in the factors of ¡§style and design, ergonomics¡¨, and ¡§brand¡¨. Bamboo-carbon material has advantage of product development in the three items: ¡§price¡¨, ¡§trendy fashion¡¨, and ¡§functionality capability¡¨.
