<p>Every modern organization relies on information systems and has a need formeasuring the performance of those systems and the IT department. It is furthermorewanted to be able to compare oneself to others. Municipalities struggle with theabsence of an instrument designed for their specific needs and circumstances becausemost instruments are designed for profit organizations, focus heavily on technical andeconomical criteria and do not involve criteria that are easy to compare. In this projectthe success factor analysis, a performance measurement instrument, is selected,modified and finally applied in two Swedish municipalities to investigate thesignificance of this instrument and its ability to identify significant factors of success.With interpreting the data gathered using on-line surveys, similarities and comparablecriteria as well as eight significant factors could be identified that are genericthroughout all surveys done.</p>

A Model-Based Approach to Digital Retrofitting and Success Factor Analysis for Legacy Machinery : A Case Study at an Essity Test Center, GothenburgLidén, Ludvig January 2024 (has links)
Background: Digital retrofitting, also known as smart retrofitting, is driven by Industry 4.0 and has gotten increased attention in today’s research. This thesis centers on digitally upgrading a legacy modular test rig at an Essity AB test center. Objective: Explore the success factors associated with integrated digital retrofitting. Methodology: The framework developed by Tantscher and Mayer (2022) has been applied to a real-world context. Study Question: What factors are critical for organizations to succeed with integrated digital retrofitting? Key Findings: To achieve successful integrated digital retrofitting, the following four main factors emerge: 1. Having a Structured Approach: Assign a person to manage the digital retrofitting process, as multiple disciplines are involved. A well-defined framework and defined requirements are beneficial for guiding the work forward. 2. Access to Resources: Human resources are crucial for handling interdisciplinary complexity, and the availability of technological resources significantly impacts the digital retrofitting outcome. 3. Effective Change Management and User Involvement: Involving individuals affected by the upgraded machinery helps mitigate the risks associated with change. Verifying solutions with operators and engaging them in the process is also essential. 4. Focus on Long-Term Success: Align the organization’s digitalization strategy with the upgrade machinery’s objectives and continuously evaluate whether the machinery meets current needs. Recommendations for Future Studies: Studies to further validate the model by Tantscher & Mayer (2022) and the usability of specific tools for the different steps of the model. More interviews with industry professionals experienced in digital retrofitting are advised to gain deeper practical insights into the benefits, challenges, and success factors associated with integrated digital retrofitting. / Bakgrund: Digital ombyggnad, även känd som ’smart ombyggnad’, har fått betydande uppmärksamhet i dagens forskning, drivet av Industri 4.0. Detta examensarbete centrerar runt en digital uppgradering av en modulär testrigg inom ett test center vid Essity AB. Mål: Utforska kritiska framgångsfaktorer förknippade med integrerad digital ombyggnad. Metodik: Ramverket utvecklat av Tantscher och Mayer (2022) har tillämpats på en verklig kontext. Studiefråga: Vilka faktorer är kritiska för organisationer att lyckas med integrerad digital ombyggnad? Huvudresultat: För att uppnå framgångsrik integrerad digital ombyggnad framträder följande fyra framgångsfaktorer: 1. Strukturerat tillvägagångssätt: Utse en person att leda den digitala ombyggnadsprocessen eftersom flera discipliner är involverade. Ett tydligt ramverk och definierade krav är fördelaktiga för att vägleda arbetet framåt. 2. Tillgång till resurser: Mänskliga resurser är avgörande för att hantera interdisciplinär komplexitet, och tillgängligheten av tekniska resurser påverkar i hög grad resultatet av den digitala ombyggnaden. 3. Effektiv förändringshantering och användarmedverkan: Att involvera individer som påverkas av uppgraderade maskiner hjälper till att minska riskerna med förändring. Det är också viktigt att verifiera lösningar med operatörer och engagera dem i processen. 4. Fokusera på långsiktig framgång: Samordna organisationens digitaliseringsstrategi med uppgraderingsmålet för maskinen och utvärdera kontinuerligt om maskinen uppfyller aktuella behov. Rekommendationer för framtida studier: Studier för att ytterligare validera modellen av Tantscher & Mayer (2022) och användbarheten hos specifika verktyg för de olika stegen i modellen. Det rekommenderas att genomföra fler intervjuer med branschexperter som har erfarenhet av digital ombyggnad för att få djupare praktiska insikter om fördelar, utmaningar och framgångsfaktorer förknippade med digital ombyggnad.
