Developing a model of sustainable learning appropriate to SMEs in the automotive supply sector

Bevis, Keith January 2009 (has links)
Evidence from national surveys conducted in 1995, 2002 and 2006 shows that, despite a variety of specific Government training initiatives, the UK automotive supply sector lags behind international competition and suffers from severe skills shortages. Long term recovery from this position will require improvements in education, careers guidance, recruitment and work related training. The aim of this research has been to design a model of work related training for the sector to help ensure that the learning involved delivers sustained changes in behaviour and skills. A series of case studies have been reviewed to provide a context of work related training in the sector. Separate surveys were used · to benchmark training performance in a World Class manufacturer to understand realistic norms of training output, to sample the sustainability of learning amongst SMEs engaged on similar training programmes and to determine the range of training needs across the automotive supply sector. In total data was obtained from 833 individuals in 389 companies. The initial conclusions that defined the requirements for the model were that The outcomes of training across SMEs in the automotive supply sector were mostly unknown, unmeasured and often unpredictable. For reference, even in large organisations it is estimated that 60% of training budgets lack quantifiable targets. Learners themselves are unpredictable, Training initiatives, deriving from recommendations of the Leitch report and which are „employer led‟ focus on “World Class Manufacturing” which, coming largely from the perspective of Automotive OEMs, means Lean Manufacturing. For smaller SMEs a constrained training offer can be an impediment to growth. Their needs are the more diverse. The model was synthesised from the survey results and its concept tested and refined by a further survey of sixteen predominately automotive companies. Tamkin‟s IES model from Human Resources was also used as a reference comparator. On the input side the new model stresses company readiness and relevance of training. On the output side it adds organisational impact to the accepted but often overlooked measurable outputs. Beneath each of the ten elements of the model there are quantifiable indicators for use with diagnostic tools in either a company‟s HR plan, a training provider‟s delivery planning or a funding agency‟s grant criteria. The companies most likely to meet these quantifiable criteria will be the competitive and innovative companies that operate as learning organisations. It is argued that training targeted on these companies will be cost effective to implement, provide measurable performance benefits and deliver sustainable learning.

Lietuvos vandentvarkos ūio veiklos efektyvumo vertinimas ir jo didinimo galimybės / The estimation of efficiency of work of Lithuanian water supply sector and efficiency rising facilities

Guščikienė, Jurgita 01 June 2005 (has links)
The master’s final paper analyze the efficiency of Lithuanian water supply sector work sustaining set model of monopoly market, which was made using organic knowledge of Lithuanian and foreign authors. Before analyzing the main environment factors, that stop successful sector development all the year round, are identified and properly explored. With reference and theoretical intelligence, such alternatives of efficiency amendment, as reorganization and privatization, are weighted up by basing likely benefit and evaluating economic and social results using forecasts and mathematical – econometric methods. The first hypothesis, that the efficiency or economic work is different in varied groups of companys and the less company is, the less its work efficiency is, - so the want of sector reform by grossing it come was confirmed. The second hypothesis, that water supply sector reorganization and privatization must be universal valuable, is confirmed parcel, for sustaining pessimistic forecasts, when companies win, customers lose.

Vandens ūkio paslaugų kainų nustatymo ypatumai ir ekonominis pagrindimas (UAB "Šiaulių vandenys") / The singularity of water services rate pricing and economical substantiation. (JSC “Šiaulių vandenys”)

Virbukas, Agnius 06 June 2005 (has links)
This master final paper formulates pricing of water sector services, analyzes sustainable price for water services, evaluates tax rates, paid for water, from every water user. The purpose of this paper is to find out reasons, which are damaging for JSC “Šiaulių vandenys” future efficiency and viability. It analyzes and systemizes theoretical and practical research from scientific, methodological and publicist literature, along with special research water methods. The hypothesis of this master paper was substantiated only partly, because an efficiently water pricing depends not only from water service company, but from political, legal and environmental frames as well, which come directly from the State government and EU directives.

Global Antibiotics Supply Sector, Structure and Main Strategies

Elajez, Ahmed January 2019 (has links)
The discovery of antibiotics in the early 1900s saved millions of lives; nevertheless, in recent years there has been an antibiotics shortage in the European market. In the effort to solve this problem, and as part of the PLATINEA project, this research focuses on understanding the global antibiotics market structure and the main strategies used by companies within the market.  Through archival studies, including online reports, company websites, and companies' annual reports, an exploratory study has been conducted.  The antibiotics supply chain progresses through several stages including delivering raw materials, manufacturing APIs, manufacturing the product and ultimately distributing the drug through market authorization holders.  This research identifies the main company strategies, including cost leadership, differentiation, internationalization, product range breadth, and acquisition. Four main strategic groups are identified, in which companies tend to apply the same strategies in the antibiotics supply market.

It is essential part of the quality of the construction, representing the integrated control and the global knowledge of the several existent flows in the production process. It is necessary to recognize that the supply sector constitutes substantial contribution for the company s operation. Among its several activities, the purchase of materials deserves an emphasis. It is verified that the necessary information and authorizations to manage this process flows thru several administrative sectors of the construction company. As strategy, companies use information and production planning and control systems integrated through computer software. Another used strategy is the practices of partnerships with the suppliers. However, it is verified that not always these strategies are implemented with success. In this context, it is the objective of this assignment to characterize the cycle of material purchase and its administration form in the construction of buildings. Through the method of case study two medium size construction companies were researched. The analyses allow to present guidelines that aid in the administration of the material purchase cycle.
