Viagens de Gulliver: recepção (história) e interpretação (crítica) / Gullivers Travels: reception (history) and interpretation (criticism)

Leonardo José César de Mattos Guerra 21 March 2012 (has links)
Since Gullivers Travels by Jonathan Swift, was printed in London, in 1726, it has been largely read and, consequently, reprinted. However, the evident editorial success of the book does not let to conclude that it had gained incontestable public approval, neither lead to think that interpretations about it were always consensual. A proof for this lays on disagreements from the post-publication period which had spread and enlarged until the Victorian age, in the 19th century; since then the most important book of Jonathan Swift has acquired new readings, especially in the Anglo-North-American world, and after all it got into the pantheon of the great texts of the English modern literature. Presenting some important readings and interpretations from the Victorian age, considering the nuances of the criticism and historiography that dealt with Gullivers Travels, as well as introducing arguments of some authors whom, from the end of the 19th century to the begin of the 20th century, revisited both the book and some commentaries concerning to it, are the prime objectives of this work.

Transformation of a single-user system into a multi-user system with Swift / Transformation av ett system för en användare till flera användare med hjälp av Swift

Janrik, Karl, Ekenlöw, Oscar January 2022 (has links)
Headlong Developments' application HeadmasterDev is currently adapted for a single user. To turn their application into a multi-user system the programming language Swift will be used. Furthermore, this thesis will evaluate whether Swift is an appropriate programming language for developing a server application, how to handle concurrency of shared resources and if it is possible to deploy the application on a operative system other than macOS. The result is that the concurrency model is dependent on the system's needs and that one should not commit to using Swift as the programming language for a server application, with some regard to the size of the application and it's uses.

Utveckling av en mobilapplikation för rehabilitering av böjsenskador / Development of a Mobile Application for Rehabilitation of Flexor Tendon Injury

Ander, Simon, Valo, Wille January 2023 (has links)
Flexor tendons are tendons in the fingers that are connected to the muscles in the forearm. They heal slowly after an injury and can rupture again after the repair if the patient exercises too much or lifts too heavy. Insufficient exercise can cause the tendon to adhere to surrounding tissue, resulting in finger stiffness. Rehabilitation following a flexor tendon injury typically lasts for at least three months after surgery. Therefore, patients may find it challenging to maintain motivation and follow all instructions correctly throughout this period. The purpose of this project was to develop a mobile application that supports patients in their rehabilitation of a flexor tendon injury along with the implementation of a digital angle measuring tool. The application was developed for both iOS and Android devices using their official integrated development environments, Android Studio and Xcode. Some features that the application consists of are a calendar providing an overview of the training plan, the ability to evaluate sessions, the ability to create custom training programs and export training data. Additionally, the application contains information about the training content, contact details, and general advice for the patient. Before the application can be published, it needs to be tested on patients to gather feedback on user-friendliness and functionality. The desired features from the client and the goals for the project were achieved, apart from the meeting scheduling feature, which was deprioritized. The digital angle measuring tool was implemented for Android but not for iOS.

Nanopatterning by Swift Heavy Ions

Skupinski, Marek January 2006 (has links)
<p>Today, the dominating way of patterning nanosystems is by irradiation-based lithography (e-beam, DUV, EUV, and ions). Compared to the other irradiations, ion tracks created by swift heavy ions in matter give the highest contrast, and its inelastic scattering facilitate minute widening and high aspect ratios (up to several thousands). Combining this with high resolution masks it may have potential as lithography technology for nanotechnology. Even if this ‘ion track lithography’ would not give a higher resolution than the others, it still can pattern otherwise irradiation insensitive materials, and enabling direct lithographic patterning of relevant material properties without further processing. In this thesis ion tracks in thin films of polyimide, amorphous SiO2 and crystalline TiO2 were made.
