Water in Yeoville : considering fantasy and fragment in responsive urban placemaking

Roux, Marzanne January 2016 (has links)
Johannesburg's urban fabric is characterised by fragmentation. The natural landscape beyond and its remnants in the city are absorbed in a diffuse urban landscape. In the development of the public park in Yeoville, it is evident that an escalation in the population exacerbates urban expansion characterised by fragmentation and dissolution of the urban form. The scheme proposes the use water for leisure as a means to establish a relationship between the city's users and the natural environment. In the pursuit of responsive urban place making control is taken over the effect of fragmentation on urban development in the park and the fantastical nature as well as the use of water is considered in public urban spaces where it has largely been absent. An existing pool is the catalyst for the programme of swimming and recreation where unbounded fantasy transcends the user from the physical boundaries of the pools of water to become one with the natural environment. The proliferation of existing types of fragments fi nds expression in a series of courtyards that are spatial types of enclosure that offer retreat and seclusion from the context to meet the demands of the overburdened public space. The use and inherent nature of water informed the form and concept of water collection, storage, treatment and use for swimming and cleansing and is central to the narrative of navigation of the courts and pools. The value of the architecture as a contextual response lies in the exploration of the manifold relationships between the city user, urban fabric and the natural environment and urban as well as human scale at which the haptic experience unfolds. / Mini Dissertation (MArch (Prof))--University of Pretoria, 2016. / Architecture / MArch (Prof) / Unrestricted

Testování maximální SF v plaveckém trenažéru a plaveckém bazénu - porovnání metod / Testing of maximum SF in a swimming flum, and swimming pool - a comparison of methods

Hubička, Tomáš January 2015 (has links)
Title: Testing of Maximum HR in the Swimming Flum and Swimming Pool Objectives: The aim is to compare the detection method of max HR in a swimming Flum with the method of detection max HR in the classic swimming pool. By meeting other goals we want to determine which method is more precise, what the positives and negatives of individual measurements show and what the difference are practically max values observed in HR pool and the Flume compared with the results of theoretical calculation max HR. Methods: According to a pilot study with methodology of the thesis, HRmax was tested in a swimming Flum and the methodology according to Formanek and Horčic HRmax testing was carried out in the swimming pool. A sample of probands were selected from students UK FTVS. For the recording was used sporttester and data evaluation program execution Polar Precision Performance. To determine the submaximal swimming speed we used CSS test. This rate was also used to warm up before swimming test to the individual HRmax of probands in a swimming Flum. The measured data of both measurements were compared with each other and the results described and evaluated. Results: CSS gained speed in m/s, was used in the Flume in escalations test to HRmax. We measured values HRmax tests in a Flume and in a swimming pool. The Test...

Body Fluid Analogues and Personal Care Products as Potential DBP Precursors

Wang, Zhen 25 August 2011 (has links)
Disinfection byproducts (DBPs), such as organic chloramines, THMs, HAAs, and nitrosamines, are formed during mandatory disinfection processes in drinking water treatment. Many of these DBPs have been shown to be potentially carcinogenic. Extensive research has been conducted on the occurrence and formation of these DBPs. However, there has been limited research on their relationships with each other, which may be important for the understanding of their formation mechanisms, and the nature of their precursors is still relatively unknown. Ultimately, this information will be key for the development of possible improvements in treatment technologies. Results of this study improve the understanding of DBP formation in swimming pool water. Some BFAs and PCP additives were identified as potential DBP precursors. Influence of BFAs and PCP additives on DBP formation in swimming pool water was also illustrated. Results provided feasible strategies to minimize DBP formation while maintaining the efficiency of disinfection.

Duban, Ivan January 2017 (has links)
The main goal of this thesis is to analyze appropriate methods and approaches that lead to valuation of a sports complex, specifically the public swimming pool complex in Senica before and after reconstruction. The aim is to estimate the expenses that are related to running the place and to analyze its possible revenue. The object´s price is based on the up-to-date valuation acts. To perform the valuation, it was necessary to acquire the corresponding technical and economic documentation. Based on these documents, there is a visible technical upgrade, which is due to a reconstruction. The object is owned and managed by the town of Senica.

Zlaté Moravce - sportovně komerční areál / Zlaté Moravce - the Sport and Commercial Complex

Pekár, Radovan January 2013 (has links)
Object pools its design reminds scallop. Swimming is apparently conceived as a single mass, which conceals all the necessary facilities for the overall operation of swimming pools. Capacity is designed for 200 people with one swimming pool of 25m, one child and one recreational pool. Additional function creates a bar with a terrace for snacks as for bathers, as well as for visitors. The entrance hall provides an opportunity for kids games in the form of a children's area with views through the glass walls to the pool hall. Interestingly as interior design-designed air management, which in a way adds a certain elegance construction. By installing solar panels on the south side of the roof structure becomes an object environmentally friendly and uses renewable energy as the future trend.
