Previous issue date: 2010 / Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico / O gerente de projetos é visto pelo PMI como aquele que possui maior autoridade e
responsabilidade pelo alcance dos objetivos do projeto. A proeminência do cargo,
por sua vez, torna mais crítica a tarefa de alocar pessoas que realmente tenham as
conhecimentos, competências e comportamentos para serem bem sucedidas. O
perfil técnico, comum entre os profissionais que atuam na área de gerenciamento de
projetos, tem criado "líderes" com um excelente conhecimento técnico, porém sem
diversas outras qualidades necessárias à eficácia profissional. Além de
competências técnicas, as competências pessoais têm se tornado cada vez mais
imprescindíveis. Dentre estas competências, segundo dados do Estudo de
Bechmarking do PMI (2009), a Liderança está entre as habilidades mais valorizadas
pelas Organizações no gerenciamento de projetos, com 50% das avaliações. Vários
modelos têm sido criados e desenvolvidos tanto para definir que competências são
essenciais à função de gerente de projetos, quanto para entender melhor como o
gerente de projetos interage e se comporta com sua equipe de forma a ser mais
eficaz no desempenho do seu papel. A própria literatura da Ciência Social oferece
muitos modelos relacionados à forma como as pessoas se comportam, mudam seu
comportamento, se mudam, e que valores subjacentes acompanham esses
comportamentos (COWEN, 1998). Entretanto, apesar da proliferação de teorias e
modelos, segundo Rokeach & Ball-Rokeach (1989:775), há pouco consenso quanto
à forma de conceituar e medir valores, e especialmente como fazer isto de uma
maneira que seja conceitualmente significante. Além disso, as preocupações dos
cientistas comportamentais informam o estudo da relação entre comportamentos e
valores, mas poucos pesquisadores abordam a aplicação de instrumentos
psicométricos para o entendimento de valores para o contexto da liderança na ideia
de propor recomendações de melhoria. O presente trabalho tem como objetivo
estudar a percepção dos valores de liderança predominante entre os gerentes de
projetos de empresas do Porto Digital para, a partir deste estudo, propor
recomendações de melhoria da liderança apoiados no uso do método Symlog. Para
tanto, foi realizada uma pesquisa de campo (survey), de natureza quantitativa,
envolvendo 39 profissionais, distribuídos por 19 empresas situadas no Porto Digital,
entre os meses de fevereiro e março de 2010. Os dados coletados foram
processados pelo Symlog Consulting Group, nos Estados Unidos. A partir disso, foi
possível avaliar a predominância de ocorrência de determinados tipos de valores de
liderança em detrimento de outros e, a comparação destes com os e com as normas
internacionais do Symlog para os valores de liderança eficaz, demonstrando que
estes valores se aproximam. Os resultados deste trabalho proporcionam ainda um
conjunto de recomendações de melhoria da liderança aos gerentes de projetos das
empresas do Porto Digital e abre espaço nos estudos acadêmicos para a aplicação
da psicometria ao gerenciamento de projetos na intenção de recomendar ações de
melhoria de suas competências essenciais

Analysis of problemsolving groups with feedback intervention using a systematic multiple level observation of groupsSchantz, Donna Buchanan 01 January 1986 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of a feedback cycle on problemsolving groups. A formal method, Systematic Multiple Level Observation of Groups (SYMLOG), was employed for the analysis of behavior in such groups. The system, which codes on multiple levels of communication, served both as a theoretical and an explanatory approach. Problemsolving groups which included a feedback session on group process were compared with problemsolving groups which were not given feedback. The study used primary data from SYMLOG field diagrams to determine whether group movement, leader movement, self-perceptions, and group satisfaction would be affected by feedback intervention. Quantitative techniques were employed to answer the research questions. Case study techniques involving SYMLOG field diagrams were used to discuss the results in a descriptive manner. The groups were analyzed on multiple levels of space using the bipolar three-dimensional model of SYMLOG: task-orientation vs. emotionally expressive, dominant vs. passive, and positive vs. negative. Findings indicated that the feedback cycle played a central role in both group satisfaction and leadership behavior but had little effect upon group movement over time and did not appear to change self-perceptions in any substantial manner.

The Impact of Member¡¦s Behavior on Virtual Team¡¦s Collaborative PerformanceYang, Yu-Chi 31 July 2001 (has links)
Facing the unceasing challenges of new technology, the use of virtual teams as the future organization structure has become more and more common. The objectives of this thesis are to investigate members¡¦ behavior in each stage of group development adopted from Tuckman¡¦s five-stages model, and to find out the impact of critical behaviors on virtual team¡¦s collaborative performance. This thesis selects nine learning-task oriented virtual teams composed by part-time graduate students in cyber university of NSYSU and probes into the theme of each groups¡¦ discussions by content analysis approach. SYMLOG is applied to observe group member¡¦s behavior and construct the categories of content analysis. According to the research results, the critical behaviors of initial stage are active (U) and friendly (P) behaviors. During the middle stage, the existence of encouragers and followers should improve group development towards high performance. In the final stage, group members shall be able to shift the communication focus from emotionally expressive (B) to instrumentally controlled (F) in order to reach superior effectiveness. Therefore, the findings of this thesis will provide some suggestions about member¡¦s behavior, facilitate group development, and improve virtual team¡¦s collaborative performance.

Nonverbal behaviour in the process of the therapeutic interview : an ecosystemic perspectiveScott, Sybil 11 1900 (has links)
Communication can be divied into two broad areas namely, the verbal and nonverbal levels.
While attention has been paid to nonverbal communication in the literature, few studies address
the nonverbal communication that takes place in the natural setting of a therapeutic session. The
present study provides such a naturalistic study, where the verbal content of actual
therapy sessions are integrated with the nonverbal content to yield a holistic view of
the session. An ecosystemic epistemology is adopted in this study, and represents a move away
from more traditional approaches to nonverbal behaviour which are largely confined to a
positivistic framework of thought and design.
Symlog Interaction Scoring is employed as a practical method of assisting observers in
distinguishing nonverbal behaviours, which are usually perceived unconsciously, and lifting them
into consciousness, allowing this infonnation to be integrated with the meanings and hypotheses
generated during therapy. By deliberately including descriptions of nonverbal behaviour,
the descriptions of therapy were broadened, thereby providing a more holistic approach to
