The Master’s Thesis focuses on examination and assessment of information system in the Plojhar s.r.o. company and on proposal of changes for its improvement. The theoretical part contains definitions of the basic concepts relevant to the subject of information systems and approaches to their assessment, management and administration. In the next, analytical part, the information system is examined from several points of view and a complex analysis is performed. Possible solutions of changes of the information system are presented on the basis of the analysis.

The diploma thesis focuses on design of the information system for the department of medical transport service, which is part of the hospital. This thesis describes the theoretical knowledge necessary for analysis and custom design, is also concerned with the analysis of the current state of processes and information system. Last but not least, based on the analysis and the requirements lays down suggestions for improvement of the information system and design of optimal information system, that effectively supports the processes and enables its users to work more efficiently.

This thesis focuses on an assessment of the current information system in a small company followed by a plan proposal for its replacement. Main goal is to compare multiple different approaches to the process of implementing a new information system in a company and the use of methodical approach for their comparison. In a traditional relational database management system, queries can only be defined over attributes defined in the schema, but are guaranteed to give single, definitive answer structured exactly as specified in the query. In contrast, an information retrieval system allows the user to pose queries without knowledge of a schema, but the result will be a top-k list of possible answers, with no guarantees about the structure or content of the retrieved documents. In this paper, we present DrillBeyond, a novel IR/RDBMS hybrid system, in which the user seamlessly queries a relational database together with a large corpus of tables extracted from a web crawl. The system allows full SQL queries over the relational database, but additionally allows the user to use arbitrary additional attributes in the query that need not to be defined in the schema. The system then processes this semi-specified query by computing a top-k list of possible query evaluations, each based on different candidate web data sources, thus mixing properties of RDBMS and IR systems. We design a novel plan operator that encapsulates a web data retrieval and matching system and allows direct integration of such systems into relational query processing. We then present methods for efficiently processing multiple variants of a query, by producing plans that are optimized for large invariant intermediate results that can be reused between multiple query evaluations. We demonstrate the viability of the operator and our optimization strategies by implementing them in PostgreSQL and evaluating on a standard benchmark by adding arbitrary attributes to its queries.

The master’s thesis deals with the design of a management information system, which is represented by a set of dashboards and reports. The main purpose of the system is to provide technological and information support to the management of company in terms of managing strategic goals and business performance. The information obtained by analyzing the company and its surroundings are subsequently used for draft creation. The thesis draft contains a project plan for the design and implementation of the system, the design of the system itself - its content and technical aspects, furthermore, we also deal with the implementation of the system and the management of this change.

This diploma thesis is dealing with the assessment of the information system of the selected business unit in company AUTOCONT, a.s. and suggests changes for improvement of its current situation. The practical part of this thesis presents an analysis of the current situation of company and an analysis of the information system providing communication and collaboration, based on theoretical knowledge. With the result of the analysis a suggested solution is presented to eliminate found deficiencies and support improvement of work efficiency and to achieve strategic goals of the company.

Solution suggestions consist of optimal enterprise information system project description and description of created expert system knowledge base for pre-selection of enterprise information system.

The thesis aims to describe the selection of a new information system, which should lead to process streamlining and a boost in the number of customers at Rumburak s.r.o. The first chapter lays out the theoretical knowledge needed to tackle the task at hand. The following section analyzes the internal and external environment of the company and the implications thereof. The proposal portion contains a comparison of the available information systems and selects the best among them. It develops a schedule for the implementation of the new IS, along with identifying the benefits and economic evaluation of the entire proposal.
