Solution to the Shortage and High Costs of Homes in Saudi Arabia

Alyabis, Majed 01 October 2015 (has links)
Saudi Arabia faces a critical housing shortage in which many citizens are unable to find or afford housing. In this paper, the causes of the housing shortage are identified and a new system is proposed to address this shortage. The relevant stakeholders are identified and necessary solution elements are proposed. The proposed system focuses on increasing the housing supply by opening new lands for development through tax incentives and government cooperation. The solution is compared to a relevant case study. Risks and ethical issues are identified and discussed. Finally, these risks and issues are verified and validated. The proposed solution should be effective at addressing the underlying shortage in housing supply and restoring a balance to the housing market.

One Admission System for All Government Universities in Saudi Arabia

Alyoubi, Ayman 01 April 2015 (has links)
The education system in Saudi Arabia has been booming in the last decade with the King's support along with several large corporations backing the interest of pouring exorbitant amounts of funds into the system. With this momentum many more students who graduate high school now are encouraged to attend a university for opportunities in finding better earning jobs. Currently universities handle these applicants individually hiring and operating their own admissions committees, which is not only a time consuming process but extremely costly. Applicants too are spending a significant amount of time filling out each application to these universities despite being asked almost exactly the same information, and even more time having to decide between universities they are admitted to. The Centralized Admissions System (CAS) aims to eliminate this wasted time and effort both from the position of an applicant and university administrator.

Saudi Arabia Emergency and Disaster Response

Alyousef, Almuhannad 01 October 2013 (has links)
Although the kingdom of Saudi Arabia has most recently drawn media and global attention for the escalation terrorism and Hajj incidents, very little attention is paid to the increasing frequency of natural disaster affecting the country. Unfortunately, despite the increase in the number of these natural disasters, the government remains slow to react. This project provides a comprehensive and conclusive discussion on the negative impacts of poor response to these calamities. While the government is concerned with climate change and its role in increasing the frequency of natural disasters, it is important to pay attention to other disasters including human-inclined dangers and technological risks. Each of these calamities has had an adverse effect on the lives of all the people living or visiting the kingdom. There has been a proposition for establishing a government agency in order to improve disaster response. It has further been noted that this agency could coordinate between different government departments to implement crisis and rapid management as well as disaster readiness training programs for each and every sector of the nation. The agency would also work to offer support in case of emergency. Though the success of a program cannot be founded on the use of systems engineering, the project recognizes its significance towards attaining success. In a nut- shell, the project compels the Saudi government to think widely so as to prepare for and respond to the occurrence of disasters.

Riyadh Blood Banks Distribution System

Binobaid, Abdulmajeed 01 April 2014 (has links)
In each hospital, the priority to ensure a patient's live is high. Therefore, a health department strives to build best medical facilities and hire superior staff to meet patient's needs. The Saudi Ministry of Health has the highest budget's portion among other ministries, yet, there are many projects that need to be implemented as soon as possible in order to save the most lives. Blood availability is considered to be one of the top needs at each hospital; however, blood banks in Saudi Arabia collect only 40% of the blood while 60% is collected by patients' families. To increase the blood availability, this paper presents a holistic project to support the trend toward 100% voluntary blood donations. By applying System Engineering discipline, the project aims to ensure communication and distribution between blood banks in the city of Riyadh and also connects thirty-four hospitals of different sectors, them being public, private, and military. Since blood availability is a national duty, the Ministry of Health will be responsible for launching and operating the project. So, blood banks will work together under the umbrella of the General Department of Laboratories and Blood Banks to achieve the system's objective.

Systems Engineering Approach to Developing a Successful Business

De Anda, Frank 01 July 2011 (has links)
Starting a business is never an easy task. Every entrepreneur wants a successful business at the end of a project, with "success" measured by how wen the business satisfies the requirements of the people who use it. So a goal-oriented entrepreneur wants to use any tools or techniques that help achieve success. Systems engineering provides those tools and techniques. The purpose of this paper will be to use fundamentals used in systems engineering to develop a business and marketing plan that will help Antoniette's Income Tax Services succeed and establish itself as a profitable and successful tax business. We will start off by using systems engineering to develop a business model for Antoniette' s Income Tax Services. The business model will act as a framework to identify customers, competition, markets analysis, and requirements. Next we will describe products and services offered. A detailed description of our marketing plan will lay the foundation for which Antoniette' s Income Tax Services will attract and retain customers. We will use System Architecture to help visualize, understand, and take in the scope and complexity of the business. Risk and ethical issues will also be considered. Value Stream Mapping will be used to identify and eliminate waste found in our business. Start up expenses and sources of capital will be discussed. Finally a financial plan will be created based on a 12 months estimated growth. Applying systems engineering techniques on a project doesn't guarantee success; not following a systems approach, however, is a strong recipe for failure. By the end of the document the goal is to show that systems engineering can be just as effective for nontechnical fields as it is for complex engineering projects.
