Diagnóstico da mecanização em uma região produtora de grãos / Farm machinery utilization in a row-crop producer region

O emprego da mecanização no Brasil iniciou-se praticamente a partir dos anos 60 com a instalação da indústria nacional de tratores acompanhada pela de máquinas e implementos. Com isso houve uma expansão acelerada no uso da mecanização agrícola sendo ela praticamente indispensável nos dias atuais. Embora com benefícios inquestionáveis, a mecanização foi influenciada pela tecnologia exógena no projeto de fabricação e na utilização de técnicas inadequadas como o preparo convencional do solo, técnica essa associada a problemas de erosão. Dado o caráter recente da mecanização, existe uma carência de informações básicas sobre os seus indicadores permitindo a análise da adequação dos equipamentos nas propriedades. Considerando-se o contexto da mecanização, as técnicas adotadas e a ausência de índices, este trabalho teve como objetivo a realização de um diagnóstico quanto à posse e uso de sistemas mecanizados em unidades agrícolas de uma região produtora de grãos em sistema de plantio direto no sul do Brasil. Para tanto foi desenvolvido um questionário com um roteiro básico englobando as características da propriedade, do sistema de produção e administração, e dos recursos utilizados, mecanização e mão de obra. Realizou-se uma amostragem estratificada por área das unidades para as entrevistas e coleta de dados. Dentre os resultados obtidos destaca-se que as produtividades médias das culturas estiveram acima da média nacional e houve pouca variação nos estratos para a produtividade e principais espécies de culturas utilizadas. A mão de obra nas propriedades é utilizada na operação das máquinas agrícolas, mas recebe pouco treinamento. Foram coletadas informações referentes a 645 tratores e a idade média foi de 10,4 anos e o uso de 726 h.ano-1. Dentre as semeadoras foram identificados três tipos distintos e o mecanismo dosador de sementes predominante para as culturas de verão foi o disco horizontal presente em 81,3% das vezes seguido do mecanismo pneumático com 16,3% de participação; a potência média por linha de semeadura variou em função da cultura. Os pulverizadores foram os equipamentos com idade média mais baixa, 7,3 anos predominando equipamentos de arrasto, com tanque de 2000 L e comprimento de barra de 18 m. Apenas 24% dos equipamentos de pulverização possuíam cabines. Para as colhedoras o uso médio foi de 381 h.ano-1 e a idade média foi maior no estrato de menor área. Houve relação positiva entre a eficiência no emprego de máquinas agrícolas e o tamanho da unidade produtiva e a compra e o uso de máquinas depende totalmente do produtor, diferente de outros fatores de produção onde há a participação de um assistente técnico. Os entrevistados atribuíram boas notas à administração das unidades de produção e entre as estratégias de expansão de área ou aumento da rentabilidade, enxergam a segunda opção como a mais importante. / The intensive farm machinery use in Brazil started in the 1960?s with the establishment of national tractor industry and followed by farm machinery industries. These industries promoted a quick expansion in agricultural mechanization, which today is essential. Although with undeniable benefits, agricultural mechanization was influenced by external technology in machinery projects and the use of inadequate techniques such as soil tillage, which brought erosion problems. Regarding the recent characteristics of agricultural mechanization, there is little information related to farm machinery indexes, so, it is not possible a comparison among equipments and to optimize their use in farms. This study aimed the conduction of an exploratory survey in order to obtain information about ownership and the use of machinery systems in rowcrop farms that use no tillage and are located in southern region of Brazil. A questionnaire was organized in order to collect data related to the farm, production system, management, labor resources and farm machinery. Stratified sampling was used considering the farm sizes and interviews were conduced using the questionnaire for obtaining the data. The results show that average yields where higher than national values and a small variation was observed between yield and crop species among farm. A large amount of the labor used in farms often operates farm machinery but receives little training to operate the equipments. Data related to 645 tractors were collected and its average age was 10.4 years with an annual use of 726 hours. Three kinds of machinery used for the crop implantation were found, planters for summer crops, grain drills for winter crops and multiples planters which are used to both crops seasons. The most common dosing mechanism for seed for summer crops was the horizontal disk plate with a participation of 81.3% followed by the pneumatic devices with 16.3%. Average power by row varied according to the crop. Sprayers were the equipment with the smaller average age, 7.3 years. Boom sprayers, trailed models, with 2000 L tanks and 18 m boom width dominate. Only 24% of the spraying equipment had cabins. For the combines the average annual use was 381 hours and older equipment was found in the smaller area. There were positive relations among the efficacy in the machinery use and farm size. The farmers are in charge of the purchase and machinery use but a technician is required for the assistance of the other resources such as herbicides and fertilizers. The interviewed farmers attributed good scores to the management of their productive units and judged the strategy of increasing profitability as more valuable way instead of increasing the farm area.

A rota de assimilação do nitrato em plantas superiores envolve dois estágios seqüenciais, conversão do nitrato a nitrito pela redutase do nitrato (NR) e nitrito a amônio, mediada pela enzima redutase do nitrito (NiR). O presente trabalho teve o objetivo de verificar a atividade da enzima NR em arroz cv. IAC 202 conduzido sob solo proveniente de áreas de sistema de plantio direto e plantio em solo escarificado, aliado a doses crescentes de nitrogênio (0, 25, 50, 75, 100 e 125 kg.ha -1 ) em dois regimes hídricos. As plantas foram cultivadas em vasos a céu aberto e as análises foram realizadas de acordo com método clássico in vivo. O delineamento experimental foi blocos casualizados, com quatro repetições. Foram feitas três análises com intervalo de sete dias entre uma e outra e estas se iniciaram sete dias após a aplicação do N em cobertura. Com base nos resultados obtidos pode-se concluir que a maior atividade da enzima está relacionada com a disponibilidade de água e ao tipo de manejo do solo (plantio direto). / Abstract: The assimilation of the nitrogen is a vital process that it controls the growth and the development of the plants and it has outstanding effects on the biomass and the final productivity of the crops. The pathway of assimilation of the nitrate in plants involves two sequential stage, one is reduction the nitrate to nitrite mediated by the nitrate reductase (NR) and reduction the nitrite to ammonium mediated by the enzyme nitrite reductase (NiR). In the present work objetivated to verify the enzyme NR activity in rice cv. IAC 202 plants cultivated in two conditions of handling of the soil, no-tillage and minimum tillage, and doses of Nitrogen (0, 25, 50, 75, 100 and 125 kg.ha -1 ) on irrigation and without irrigation. The plants were cultivated in vases to open sky and the analyses were accomplished in agreement with method classic alive in. The experimental design was randomized blocks, with four repetitions. It was made three evaluations in the interval of seven days; the analysis began seven days after the N application on covering. The largest activity of the enzyme is related with readiness of water and to the soil cultivation with the better performance was observed in no-tillage system. / Mestre

Permeabilidade ao ar em Latossolo Vermelho sob plantio direto e preparo convencional / Soil air permeability in a Rhodic Hapludox under no-tillage and conventional tillage

A permeabilidade ao ar (Ka) pode ser utilizada para avaliar alterações que ocorrem na estrutura do solo em virtude de diferentes sistemas de manejo. Este estudo testou a hipótese de que o menor revolvimento do solo sob sistema plantio direto resulta na formação de poros contínuos e melhor condição de aeração no solo. O objetivo do estudo foi avaliar, por meio da Ka, porosidade de aeração (a) e índices de continuidade de poros (K1 e N), a aeração em um Latossolo Vermelho submetido ao preparo do solo convencional (PC) e plantio direto (PD). Amostras de solo indeformadas foram coletadas em cada sistema nas profundidades de 0-0,10 e 0,10-0,20 m em área experimental do Instituto Agronômico do Paraná IAPAR, no município de Ponta Grossa, Paraná. A Ka foi medida pelo método da carga decrescente em seis potenciais mátricos, -2, -6, -10, -30, -70 e -100 kPa. A macroporosidade e a Ka foi maior no PC nas duas camadas avaliadas. A continuidade de poros avaliada pela razão entre Ka e a (K1) foi similar entre os sistemas na camada superficial e foi maior para o PC em subsuperfície. O índice de continuidade N, referente ao coeficiente angular da relação log-log entre Ka e a foi diferente quando determinado para cada amostra individualmente (n=6) e quando obtido com todas as observações (n=120). Os dois métodos revelaram poros mais contínuos no PC em superfície. Na camada de 0,10-0,20 m o primeiro (n=6) não indicou diferença de continuidade de poros entre os sistemas, enquanto o segundo (n=120) resultou em uma maior continuidade de poros nesta profundidade no PD. / Air permeability (Ka) can be used for assessing soil structure changes due tillage systems. This study tested the hypothesis that the less soil disturbance under no-tillage result in continuous pores and better soil aeration conditions. The objective of this study was to evaluate a Rhodic Hapludox aeration dynamics, by measuring Ka, air-filled porosity (ea) and pore continuity indices (K1 and N), under conventional tillage (CT) and no-tillage (NT). Undisturbed soil cores were collected in each systems at depths of 0-0,10 and 0,10-0,20 m in Parana Agronomic Institute research farm - IAPAR, in Ponta Grossa, Paraná. Ka was determined using falling pressure method in six soil water potentials, -2, -6, -10, -30, -70 e -100 kPa. The soil macroporosity and Ka was higher in CT in both depths. The pore continuity assessment by ratio between Ka and ea (K1) was similar between the systems in the top layer and was higher at CT at depth of 0,10-0,20 m. The continuity index N, relative to the slope from the log-log relationship between Ka and ea was different when calculated for each core individually (n=6) or obtained including all data for each tillage (n=120). The two methods revealed a more continuous pores in CT in the top layer. At depth of 0,10-0,20 m the first (n=6) did not indicate pore continuity difference between the systems, while the second resulted in better pore continuity in NT at this depth.

Impacts of long term tillage and residue practices on selected soil properties

A two year study was initiated in 2001 on a 2.4 ha site of mostly St. Amable loamy sand and shallow loamy sand at the Macdonald Campus Research Farm. This study sought to assess the effects of long term tillage and residue practices on soil physical properties and to relate these properties to their influence on total carbon, total nitrogen and soil microbial biomass-carbon. The site was set up as a factorial experiment with three tillage practices (no till---NT; reduced till---RT; and conventional till---CT) and two residue practices (with residue (grain corn), +R; without residue (silage corn), -R). Soil physical properties measured were bulk density, macroporosity at -6 kPa, saturated hydraulic conductivity (Ksat ), dry aggregate distribution, soil moisture and soil temperature. Wheel versus non-wheel track bulk density was also determined in the NT plots. Total porosity, soil water characteristic curves and pore volume distribution were derived from field samples. Crop yield was also assessed. Tillage alone had an effect on total porosity, bulk density, pore diameter and macroporosity. No individual physical property was significantly affected by the residue treatments; however, the tillage and residue interaction was significant for Ksat, soil moisture and soil temperature. Dry aggregate distribution was not affected by either tillage, residue or the combination of the two. Tillage affected total carbon and total nitrogen in the 0--0.10 m depth. Soil microbial biomass-carbon was affected by residue inputs. Total carbon and nitrogen were influenced by the bulk density, but none of the other soil physical properties. Soil microbial biomass-carbon was not influenced by any of the physical properties. Tillage and residue practices had no significant effect on crop yield for either year.

Tillage, rotation, and N fertilizer rate effects on surface soil physical properties

In 1991, a project was initiated at Quinn and Ormstown, two sites with soils representative of Quebec's present-day agriculture. Three field management techniques were studied related to their possible impact on the soils: tillage, rotation, and N fertilization. The three treatments were randomly assigned in two blocks of a split-split-plot design. The main treatment, tillage, had two levels, conventional tillage (CT) and no-till (NT). The sub-treatment was represented by five 4-year rotations, starting from 1991 as follows: CCCC (continuous corn), CSAC (corn-soybean-alfalfa-corn), CSCS (corn-soybean-corn-soybean), SCSC (soybean-corn-soybean-corn) and SSSS (soybean monocrop). The third factor was N fertilization, at three different rates: 0, 90, and 180 kg/ha, excepting the continuous soybeans which received lower rates of, respectively, 0, 20 and 40 kg N/ha. Soil sampling was performed in 1994, during the last year of the 4-year rotations, at two different moments over the growing season, June and August, for all analysed soil properties, except aggregate stability and organic matter for which samples were taken only in September. Crop residue decomposition and nitrogen dynamics in corn under three tillage systems

Decomposition and N dynamics of grain-corn residues were investigated in a field study in southwestern Quebec, with particular reference to the roles of different plant parts (stems, leaves etc.) in determining overall residue mass loss and N content. A litterbag study was conducted, with surface and buried placements in plots under three tillage systems (no-till, reduced tillage, and conventional tillage, established five years before litterbag placement). Residue mass loss and N content were monitored over a two-year period. Separate data were obtained for leaves, stems, husks, and cobs. Net values for all residues combined were calculated taking into account initial proportions of each plant part at harvest. Overall estimates were made based on residue depth-distribution typical of each tillage system. A spreadsheet-based model of surface residue mass loss was developed, incorporating litterbag mass and other surface-residue data, in order to determine how well litterbag results predicted surface residue mass loss in the field, and to test alternative assumptions regarding residue decomposition and/or burial. Buried residues lost mass more quickly than surface residues, as expected. Thus residue breakdown would be fastest in a conventional system, slowest under no-till, and intermediate with reduced tillage. Substantial decreases in mass and residue N content occurred between fall placement and first sampling in spring, despite low temperatures for much of this period. Mass loss in the first period was substantial for stems as we as husks and leaves. Cobs decomposed most slowly throughout. Nitrogen dynamics, including effects of depth on residue N content, differed greatly by residue type. All the lower-N residues (cobs, husks, stems) immobilized N at some point. However, during the two-year study, N immobilization by one or more residue types was always counterbalanced or exceeded by N release by other residue, at least for the sampling intervals included. Impact of no-tillage versus conventional tillage, soybean-corn rotations, and fertilizer N rates on soil N levels and grain yields in two Eastern Canadian soils

Corn (Zea mays L.) production under monoculture and conventional-tillage management may cause soil degradation and nitrate (NO$ sb3 sp-)$ pollution. This study was conducted from 1991 to 1993 to evaluate the impact of conventional-tillage (CT) and no-tillage (NT) practices under corn-soybean (Glycine max L. Merill) rotations (C-S-C and S-C-S), continuous corn (C-C-C) and continuous soybean (S-S-S) systems on optimum N fertilization rates, yield and soil residual N levels. Field experiments were carried out on a Ste. Rosalie clay (Humic Gleysol) and an Ormstown silty clay loam (Humic Gleysol). Overall, tillage had little effect on soil and crop N levels or grain yields. Residual soil NO$ sb3$-N in the fall was related to fertilizer N rates in C-C-C, but not with S-S-S or soybean in rotation. Residual NO$ sb3$-N values after soybean were high and at zero added N were equivalent to 90 kg N with C-C-C. Consequently, soybean contributed the equivalent of 90 kg N ha$ sp{-1}$ to subsequent corn. Corn yields following soybean were higher than following corn, and less fertilizer N was required following soybean than following corn.

O método de plantio manual de mudas de árvores é predominante no Brasil. Para a redução dos custos com mão-de-obra, aumento de produtividade e qualidade operacional, o plantio manual deve ser substituído total ou parcialmente por operações mecanizadas. Com esse enfoque foram avaliadas as atividades de plantios manual e mecanizado de eucaliptos, bem como de preparo mecanizado do solo, em área pertencente a uma empresa florestal. O plantio manual foi feito por onze trabalhadores rurais, com o uso da transplantadora de acionamento manual. O plantio mecanizado foi realizado por uma máquina de transplantio de mudas, operada por um trabalhador rural e tracionada por um trator. Na área do estudo foram locadas duas parcelas amostrais, formando uma malha de setenta e cinco pontos amostrais para cada sistema de plantio. Os itens do preparo do solo avaliados foram a profundidade do sulco, o diâmetro dos torrões e o volume cilíndrico dos galhos de madeira sobre a faixa de sulcamento. O itens dos sistemas de plantio avaliados foram a presença de defeitos da operação, a distância entre plantas, a altura da parte aérea das mudas e a sobrevivência das plantas após um mês de idade. As ferramentas da qualidade total utilizadas foram os histogramas, o diagrama de causa e efeito, os gráficos de Pareto e de controle. As análises estatísticas dos resultados foram feitas pelo teste t e pelo teste de qui-quadrado Para avaliar o desempenho operacional do sistema manual estimou-se somente a capacidade de campo operacional. No sistema mecanizado foram estimadas as capacidades de campo efetiva e operacional. Nos dois sistemas de plantio foram estimados também os custos horários e operacionais das máquinas e da mão-de-obra. Entre os sistemas de plantio, a distância entre plantas foi diferente estatisticamente, com melhor distribuição das mudas no sistema manual. O número de defeitos por muda plantada foi semelhante estatisticamente entre os sistemas de plantio. Os principais defeitos do sistema manual foram as mudas plantadas com colo encoberto pelo solo e as mudas plantadas fora do centro do sulco, os quais representaram 72,8% do total. No sistema mecanizado, esses defeitos, somados às mudas não plantadas e mudas não firmes, representaram 76,7% do total. A altura da parte aérea foi diferente estatisticamente, tanto no plantio como um mês após. A sobrevivência das mudas efetivamente plantadas, após um mês de idade, foi semelhante estatisticamente. Concluiu-se, assim, que a qualidade em ambos os sistemas de plantio não variaram dentro de padrões aceitáveis pela empresa florestal. O tempo produtivo do sistema de plantio mecanizado foi igual a 48,2%, gerando uma capacidade de campo operacional 60,0% menor do que no sistema manual. Inferiu-se que o número médio de mudas plantadas por trabalhador por hora foi igual a 95 no sistema manual, enquanto que no sistema mecanizado foi igual a 205. O custo operacional estimado do sistema mecanizado foi 44,9% maior do que no sistema manual, fato devido a baixa capacidade de campo operacional observada no sistema mecanizado. / Hand planting of tree seedlings is the predominant method in Brazil. In order to reduce labor costs, increase productivity, and improve operational quality, hand planting should be totally or partially replaced by machine operations. Having this in mind, eucalyptus’ hand and machine planting activities were assessed, as well as those of mechanical tillage, in an area belonging to a forestation company. Hand planting had been carried out by 11 rural workers by using a planting tube. Machine planting had been carried out by using a seedling transplant machine, which was operated by a rural worker and pulled by a tractor. In the study area, two sampling parts were allocated, forming a web with 75 sampling points for each planting system. Tillage items that were assessed included furrow depth, stone diameter, and the cylindrical volume of wood branches on the furrow belt. Planting system items that were assessed included the presence of operation defects, distance between plants, height of the top portion of the seedlings, and plant survival after one month of age. Total quality tools included histograms, cause and effect diagram, control graphs, and Pareto's graphs. Statistical analyses of the results were performed by using test and qui-square test. To evaluate hand planting system’s operational performance, only the operational field capacity was estimated. As for the machine system, effective and operational field capacities were estimated. Labor and machine hourly costs, as well as the operational costs for both planting systems were assessed. When comparing planting systems, the distance between plants was statistically different, with hand planting system showing better seedling distribution. The number of defects per planted seedling was statistically similar for both planting systems. The major defects in the hand planting system were seedlings planted with soil-covered base and those planted out of the furrow center, which represented 72.8% of the total. With the machine system, these defects, in addition to non-planted and loose seedlings, represented 76.7% of the total. The height of the top portion was statistically different, both when planting and after one month. The survival of effectively planted seedlings after one month of age was statistically similar. Thus, we concluded that the quality of both planting systems did not vary within the standards that are acceptable for the forestation company. Machine planting system's productive time was 48.2%, and generated an estimated operational field capacity 60.0% less to that for the hand planting system. The average number of planted seedlings per worker by hour was inferred to be equal to 95 in the hand planting system, whereas it was equal to 205 in the machine system. The operational cost for the machine system was estimated to be 44.9% greater to that for the hand planting system, which is due to the low operational field capacity observed in the machine system.

Estes sistemas favorecem numerosos processos bioquímicos que ocorrem no solo devido à atividade microbiana, com efeitos sobre as propriedades físicas e químicas do solo e reflexos sobre o desenvolvimento das plantas, a produtividade agrícola e a qualidade do ambiente. Com isso, o objetivo deste trabalho foi quantificar o carbono da biomassa microbiana (CBM), o carbono do CO2 (C-CO2) liberado e a micorrização em função da calagem e do manejo do solo, em uma área de 20 anos de plantio direto, nas culturas de feijão (cultura de inverno) e milho (cultura de verão). O experimento foi conduzido na Fazenda de Ensino e Pesquisa da Faculdade de Engenharia, UNESP, Campus de Ilha Solteira, localizada no município de Selvíria-MS. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi o de blocos ao acaso, com parcelas subdivididas, constituídas de 2 tratamentos (principais), 2 doses de calcário e 4 repetições cada. Os tratamentos foram: T1 - Plantio direto - calcário na superfície, sem incorporação; e T2 - Cultivo Mínimo - incorporação de calcário com o escarificador; e as doses de calcários foram: D1 - Testemunha (sem calcário) e D2 - 2000 kg ha-1 de calcário. O solo foi reclassificado como LATOSSOLO VERMELHO distrófico. Após amostragem (de 0 - 0,10 m de profundidade), o solo foi seco, peneirado (2 mm) e enviado para análise das características químicas. O CBM foi avaliado pelo método de fumigação-extração e a atividade respiratória foi verificada pela quantificação do C-CO2 liberado. These systems benefits several biochemical processes that take place in the soil due to microbial activity, which impact its physical and chemical properties and reflect on the development of plants, agricultural yield and the environment quality. The objective of this research was to quantify the microbial biomas-C, the C-CO2 evaluated and the mycorrhization in relation to limestone application and soil management, in a site under no-tillage for 20 years. The experiment was deployed at the Teaching and Research Farm (Selvíria, Mato Grosso do Sul State, Brazil) of the College of Engineering of Ilha Solteira, UNESP. The experimental design was a split plot, with two managements (main) and two levels of limestone, with four replications each. Treatments were T1 - No-tillage: surface limestone application, with no incorporation and T2 - Minimum-tillage: limestone incorporation with chisel plowing, while limestone levels were D1 - control (no limestone) and D2 - 2,000 kg ha-1 limestone. The soil was reclassified as a red 'latossol' (oxisol). After sampling the soil was dried, sieved (2 mm mesh) and analyzed for its chemical properties. The microbial biomass-C was estimated by the fumigation-extraction method and respiratory activity was estimated by the quantification of the C-CO2 evaluated. Roots were clarified, acidified, stained with 0.05 trypan blue and preserved in lactoglycerol in order to estimate the percentage of root colonization by arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi. Com isso, o objetivo deste trabalho foi quantificar o carbono da biomassa microbiana (CBM), o carbono do CO2 (C-CO2) liberado e a micorrização em função da calagem e do manejo do solo, em uma área de 20 anos de plantio direto, nas culturas de feijão (cultura de inverno) e milho (cultura de verão). O experimento foi conduzido na Fazenda de Ensino e Pesquisa da Faculdade de Engenharia, UNESP, Campus de Ilha Solteira, localizada no município de Selvíria-MS. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi o de blocos ao acaso, com parcelas subdivididas, constituídas de 2 tratamentos (principais), 2 doses de calcário e 4 repetições cada. Os tratamentos foram: T1 - Plantio direto - calcário na superfície, sem incorporação; e T2 - Cultivo Mínimo - incorporação de calcário com o escarificador; e as doses de calcários foram: D1 - Testemunha (sem calcário) e D2 - 2000 kg ha-1 de calcário. O solo foi reclassificado como LATOSSOLO VERMELHO distrófico. Após amostragem (de 0 - 0,10 m de profundidade), o solo foi seco, peneirado (2 mm) e enviado para análise das características químicas. O CBM foi avaliado pelo método de fumigação-extração e a atividade respiratória foi verificada pela quantificação do C-CO2 liberado.
