The Study of Proxy Variable of Insider Trading

Lin, Yung-Chih 21 July 2005 (has links)
Abstract The study attempts to filter the public trading data, based on TESC and TEJ to get the proxy variable of insiders¡¦ trading. We estimate the proxy variable of insider trading according to the Security and Exchange Act. The correlation between the daily return and time-series proxy variables are significant and the proxy variable is a factor for the return. The paces of information releasing are different by capital levels. When the capital is under 40 billion, the information will be released within 4 days. The portfolio of the proxy variable in 4 factors Fama and French model is only effective in small capital levels. In the aspect of the price levels, the time series proxy variables are significant but the effects are different among the levels of price. The portfolio of the proxy variable in 4 factors Fama and French model is only effective in the lower price levels

Huang, Shin-wei 27 August 2008 (has links)
This study proposes a program trading system and applied to Taiwan Stock Market , the trading rules refer to Curtis(2007) -¡yWay of the turtle¡z. In this research , we follow the trend following rule to invest in Taiwan Stock Market and not predict the future price of the market. To see if this system is good enough , we use average earn/loss ratio and average return to measure. Finally , we take trend following strategy compare with four different strategies. This research choose 16 stocks of Taiwan Stock Market , research period is from 1998/1/3 to 2007/12/31. The result show that trend following strategy gain positive return in different states and periods , its performance better than other strategies. We find the¡§Loss Stop¡¨is the key of trend following strategy in this research.

Optimal Pairs Trading: Static and Dynamic Models

Zhengqin, Zeng 07 July 2014 (has links)
Pairs trading has been a popular statistical arbitrage strategy among hedge funds. One important research field in pairs trading is to maximize the return under differential constraints and assumptions. In this thesis, we develop two models to optimize the performance of pairs trading. In the static model, we find the analytic solution of optimal thresholds for pairs trading to maximize the long run profit per unit time. Comparison is made between the optimal rules we developed and the common practice. To overcome limitations of the static model, we extend our research to dynamic pairs trading, where a continuous time Markov chain is used to model the change of parameters. Our objective is to maximize the expected return in the finite horizon under the Constant Relative Risk Aversion (CRRA) utility. Numerical examples are presented to illustrate the impact of price limits, risk aversion rate and regime switching on consumers' investment decision.

BBC producer choice and the management of organisational change

Wegg-Prosser, Victoria January 1998 (has links)
Producer Choice was the title given to the trading system, designed around an internal market, which was introduced at the BBC in the years between 1991 and 1994. The initiative represented the biggest organisational change in the BBC's history. The political background to Producer Choice was conditioned by the perceived need of the BBC to ensure renewal of its ten-year Charter in 1996. Producer Choice helped to secure Charter Renewal because it provided the means whereby new accountability and cost measurements were set in place. The 'command economy' of the old BBC was to be replaced with an internal market, and the organisation given an enhanced managerial focus. Using a combination of participant observation, semi-structured interviews, an analysis of all relevant documentation, and the application of theory concerning processual models of change, the nature of bureaucracy, changes in public sector management and the shift from hierarchy to marketisation, the thesis answers three questions: What is Producer Choice? How has it been implemented? What have been its outcomes? The thesis concludes by drawing out some analytical generalisations about the management of change regarding the 'process of sanctification', the effects of divisionalisation on organisational cohesion, and the characteristics of internal markets.

Investigating the relationships between distinctive capabilities, business strategy and performance of Malaysian exporting SMEs /

Ahmad, Sa'ari bin Unknown Date (has links)
Despite the importance of SMEs and increased knowledge in the area of strategic management, empirical research on small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in this area of management has not only been limited but also neglected. In an attempt to investigate the strategic factors that can influence the performance of SMEs, this study focuses on Malaysian exporting SMEs. This study adopts the conceptual framework in the context of strategic management. The conceptual framework is developed based on the strategic management variables; business strategy, distinctive capabilities and performance. The purpose of the study was to examine the relationship between the business strategy, distinctive capabilities and performance of Malyasian exporting SMEs. The study was based on a sample survey consisting of 150 Malaysian exporting SMEs, which is based on the listing provided by MATRADE. Using structured questionnaires, the data were collected through mailed questionnaires to the managers and owners of exporting SMEs throughout Malaysia. There were statistically significant differences in the performance of Malaysian exporting SMEs that adopted different business strategies, and there is a relationship between distinctive capabilities and performance of Malaysian exporting SMEs. / In general, all of the strategic variables used in this study significantly influence the performance of the exporting SMEs in Malaysia. Although there are different impacts of strategic factors on the various performance measures, in general the strategic factors used in this study seem to significantly influence the business performance of the Malaysian exporting SMEs studied. / Thesis (DoctorateofBusinessAdministration)--University of South Australia, 2005.
