A Human Factors Analysis of Optical Distortion in Automotive Glazing

Lindahl, Daniel, Stodell, Henric January 2007 (has links)
<p>The glazing is today a part of the car design. The customer is more or less taking for granted that his or her view from inside the car is a direct mirror of the outside world. With more complex shapes, lower installation angles and thinner glass it is a great challenge to produce even better quality at a lower price. While the windscreen is regulated by law, the lack of well specified requirements for the optics in the backlight (rear window), together with the absence of direct customer complaints, is causing the optical quality of the backlight to decrease. The requirements and measuring methods used today are described in technical terms and do not correspond to the human perception of optical distortion.</p><p>This report is a first step towards new technical requirements, for the optics of backlights, based on the driver’s perception of optical distortion. The knowledge of how optical transmission distortion occurs, how it should be measured and how it affects the driver, is essential in order to control it.</p><p>Several databases were searched and contacts with experts were established, in order to gain knowledge. The connection between the technical requirements and the human perception of optical distortion in backlights was investigated by using psychophysical methods. A within factorial design was employed with two independent variables; viewing distance from backlight to tailing object and fixation time (viewing time). The result showed a significant difference in perception of optical distortion between 25 and 75 metres. Moreover, optical distortion is, according to the test, more disturbing during free fixation time than for fixation times of about one second.</p><p>The requirements often used for backlights today (12 ± 5 millimetres) allow distortions that 68 percent of the test subjects perceived as disturbing. In order to please the test driver from Volvo the requirements need to be as high as 12 ± 2 millimetres, which correspond to the 96th percentile. Furthermore, the result confirms that dynamic measurements are needed to find a connection to human perception of optical distortion. The principles of a new measuring method that measures the deformation and the dynamic distortion were developed to show the possibilities of measuring what the driver perceives.</p><p>Even if a good measuring method can help controlling the produced glazing it is not enough to optimize the quality of the production. More important is the choice of thickness and curvature of the glass, the installation angle and the manufacturing method. It is important to set about the origin of the problem and develop a good routine of how to work with optical distortions. Optical distortions in backlights, similar to the tested backlight, have a low probability to disturb the driver in such extent that it has an effect on the driving. Nevertheless, it is a source of irritation and discomfort, which do not belong in a premium car.</p> / The video files are also clickable from the pdf file pages 29 and 56.

Tekniska krav från GDPR : <em data-stringify-type="italic">Vad som krävs av en applikation som hanterar och samlar in samtycken för att tekniskt uppfylla kraven från GDPR / Technical requirements from GDPR

Amberman, Madelene, Johansson, Andreas January 2020 (has links)
Privacy Policies within EU is regulated by General Protection Data Regulation, GDPR, it exists to protect a person's integrity while maintaining the free flow of data between its members. Companies and organizations today put a lot of resources on manual handling of personal data, that could be used for more value-adding activities if this process had a more automated flow. Hence we are going to do a case study at Meriworks, they have a system, Imagevault, that handles images and consents in a manual process. By interviewing some of the organizations that uses this system and a literature study of GDPR, we compiled the requirements for an application that handles consents and personal data, from both a technical and user perspective. Using these requirements, we created a technical solution proposal, that is meant to replace the current manual process in our case study. Our list of technical requirements from GDPR is generic and can be used as guidelines for cases beyond this paper.

Ochrana spotřebitele v oblasti bezpečnosti výrobků se zaměřením na hračky / Consumer protection in the area of product safety with a focus on toys

Rovenská, Michaela January 2011 (has links)
This diploma thesis aims to describe the nature and specifics of product safety, as well as analyze the legal background of toys safety and discuss practical aspects related to the toy market. Based on these findings it aims to vindicate the following hypothesis: "Current toy market trends clearly linked with European integration, globalization and technological progress lead to a need to introduce increasingly stringent legislation that would regulate the negative consequences of these trends." The diploma thesis is divided into three parts. The first part describes the theoretical basis of consumer protection in the Czech Republic and the European Union. Sources of legal regulation of consumer law, basic terminology as well as consumer organizations and institutions active in this area are described. The second part deals with the regulation of product safety, while an analysis of three major legislations affecting the product safety is carried out. The third part of this diploma thesis is crucial, while it characterizes the term "toy", analyzes legislation governing toys safety and contains comparison of the current and already invalid Government Regulation on technical requirements for toys. Specific aspects of the toy industry and its current trends are discussed as well as systematic intervention of responsible bodies in case when a dangerous toy is launched.

Analýza, návrh a optimalizace automobilového startéru / Analysis, design and optimization of automotive starter

Benetka, Martin January 2014 (has links)
This thesis aims at automotive starters, their construction, characteristics and problems with starting at low temperatures. There are kinds of starters, function principle, construction, advantages and disadvantages in the first part of thesis. Issues with combustion engine starting and basic technical requirements are also mentioned here; characteristics and importance of starters and combustion engines are also described. Last chapters of this part are dedicated to finite element method and its implication. There are analytical calculations of starter in the second part of thesis. Results are compared with experimental obtained (measured) values and results from RMxprt. Finite element method results are compared, too. Magnetic induction improvement in stator is also suggested.
