Tomato fruit borer caterpillars cause economic damage, with Helicoverpa armigera being the most recent discovery. The objective was to select tomato accessions resistant to H. armigera, to identify and quantify their chemicals compounds. The experiment in a completely randomized design consisted of 9 treatments (8 accessions BGH - UFV and ‘Santa Clara’), with four replications. At 70 days after transplanting, the fruits were harvested and submitted to three evaluations: antibiosis, nutritional contents and secondary metabolites. The antibiosis was evaluated: sexual ratio, number and percentage of deformations, duration by stage, weight gain daily and total, survival and mortality. The nutritional analysis was done for calcium, sulfur, potassium and nitrogen (N), and with the N results the protein was converted. The secondary metabolites were identified and quantified by gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry (GC/MS). In antibiosis, there was a variation in resistance levels of BGH 985, 2029, 2030, 2100 and 2121 to H. armigera that had adverse effects under insect biology. It was observed that the pest resistant accesses showed an imbalance of the analyzed nutrients. The presence of 2-undecanone was identified in seven accessions and ‘Santa Clara’, in which BGH 2100 presented the highest concentration. There was 2-undecanone toxicity to the caterpillars, and the dose of 12,3 μL 10 mL-1 caused the mortality of 50% of the population. Therefore, the resistance characteristics of the accesses tested show that they can be used in breeding programs.
