Este trabalho é uma pesquisa sobre a variação da vibrante e suas variantes na fala de regiões do Sul do Brasil, com destaque para o cancelamento do r em coda final de não-verbos. Utiliza-se um corpus, extraído do banco de dados do projeto VARSUL, para a análise de cinco variantes, sob os métodos quantitativos do modelo de análise variacionista nas linhas de Labov (1969). Além de descrever o comportamento variável da vibrante e suas variantes, bem como sua distribuição pelos fatores linguísticos e sociais nas regiões analisadas, nossa pesquisa inclui uma análise do apagamento do r final sob a ótica da palavra, isto é, de acordo com nossos resultados, o cancelamento do r não estaria sendo condicionado por regra fonológica, mas se daria em determinadas palavras, como sustenta a Teoria da Difusão Lexical, nas linhas de Wang (1969, 1977). / This paper is a study of the variation in the vibrant and its variants in the speech of southern regions in Brazil, especially the deletion of the r in the final coda of non-verbs. We use a corpus, extracted from the project VARSUL database, for the analysis of five variants in the model of quantitative methods of variational analysis, according to Labov (1969). In addition to describing the behavior of the variable vibrant and its variants, as well as their distribution among the linguistic and social factors in the regions surveyed, our research includes an analysis of the erasing of final r from the perspective of the word, that is, according to our results, the cancellation of r is not being conditioned by phonological rule, but would occur on certain words, as the theory of Lexical Diffusion, according to Wang (1969, 1977).
