Tradição esta que se preocupa em estudar os meios de comunicação como atores importantes na configuração da sociedade e das relações sociais. Discutimos então as principais pesquisas de seus representantes como Marshall McLuhan, Harold Innis, Joshua Meyrowitz entre outros pesquisadores a fim de problematizar o potencial desta tradição em analisar a Internet enquanto meio de comunicação. _________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT / The research proposes to understand the Internet from the tradition known as Medium Theory. This tradition is concerned in study the media as key players in shaping society and social relations. We discuss the main research of its representatives as Marshall McLuhan, Harold Innis, Joshua Meyrowitz and other researchers, to question the potential of this tradition to consider the Internet as a medium of communication.
