Marine geomorphology study of post-glacial landscapes and the sea level implications: using multibeam bathymetry from Goletas Channel - Hardy Bay - Shusharti Bay, northeast Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada

Molloy, Byron James 29 September 2010 (has links)
The submarine geomorphology of Goletas Channel - Hardy Bay - Shusharti Bay is a record of environmental change, defined by sediment deposition since the late Pleistocene draped over glacially sculpted physiography. Sea level change, contiguous with waning ice extent at the termination of the Fraser Glaciation, triggered an oceanographic transition within Goletas Channel from a low energy closed embayment to a higher energy open channel environment. Morphologic evidence of lower sea level position is observed from sequence stratigraphy in Hardy Bay and suggests regression to 74 m below present. Stratigraphy also shows a correlation between sea level transgression and turbidity current flows in northwest Goletas Channel, and although triggering mechanisms remain elusive, they are likely related to reworking of glacial sediments concomitant to initial open channel conditions. Holocene sediment accumulation has been highest in southeast Goletas Channel, represented by mud with interstitial gas, and has been reworked by tidal currents into contourite structures. A combination of high-resolution multibeam bathymetry, seismic and core samples are used to study the geomorphology of the region.

Évolution tectonique du Tianshan oriental du Néogène à l'actuel / Tectonic evolution of eastern Tianshan from Neogene to present

Saint-Carlier, Dimitri 09 October 2015 (has links)
The Tianshan range is a 2000-km-long tectonically active mountain range. The Tianshan plays a major role in the India-Asia collision since it presently accommodates up to 40% of the total convergence between those two continents. Despite this intense deformation, the topography of the range shows series of high elevated range separated by flat intermountain basins. This range is therefore a remarkable case of example to study orogenesis processes and remains a key area to better understand how the deformation related to the India collision has been distributed through the Asian continent. Enhanced aridity since Pleistocene has moreover remarkably preserved alluvial terraces and fans which may have recorded the deformation enabling the quantification of the tectonic rates during the Quaternary period. Therefore, using Terrestrial Cosmogenic Nuclide we have dated several alluvial surfaces and analyzed their deformation using D.E.M. or high resolution DGPS measurements. Hence, in the eastern Tianshan we quantify the quaternary shortening rates across several structures located in the Northern and Southern foreland piedmonts but also within the range in the intermountain Bayanbuluk basin. Moreover, when possible we have also derived the Neogene shortening rates from geometric modeling of syntectonic strata. Our results highlight the recent acceleration of the eastern Tianshan since ~150-200 ka. We also show that a significant proportion (>15%) of the whole deformation is accommodated within the range while the remaining part is distributed between the different thin skin tectonic structure in the piedmonts. This result supports the hypothesis that the range is out of equilibrium and an in-building stage of deformation

Autoservis / Car service

Diatel, Bohumil January 2019 (has links)
The subject of this diploma thesis is a layout of car service object in Brno – Horní Heršpice, Železná street. The building is designed as four-floor with flat - cascaded roof, which will be partially used also like a terrace. The object is intended for repairs and servicing of the trucks and buses. Inside the building are situated also offices, training room and temporary accommodation for the drivers. Supporting structure of the building is composed by ferroconcrete prefabricated shell, which horizontal supporting structure is composed by ferroconcrete pre-stressed panels spiroll. The curtain enclosure wall is designed from Sendwix system line-sand bricks with the outer thermal insulation. A building plot is flat. A part of the layout is also thermal and technical, acoustic and fire safety assessment. This diploma thesis contain also five specializations – layout of ferronconrete pre-stressed girder, layout of steel shelter, layout of construction basing, scheme of the overall heat output of the building and sewerage layout.

Nová synagoga Trutnov / New synagogue in Trutnov

Král, Ondřej January 2021 (has links)
The diploma project is an elaborate design of a synagogue including associated facilities for the Jewish population in Trutnov. The proposition is designed in the phase of architectural study. The location of the proposal is placed near the historic centre of Trutnov. The intention of the proposal was to respect the conditions of the surroundings and relations with the environment and at the same time provide the Jewish population with representative and sufficiently sized spaces for their activities. The main building also provides an opportunity for chance encounters between the Jewish population and the public, thus indirectly contributing to the growth of the Jewish community and awareness of Judaism as such. The main building is a three-storey building placed in the terrain so that it forms natural "stairs" in the slope of the hill. The roofs of the building also serve as walking terraces, which ensure the accessibility and walkability of the plot. In the basement there are garages, the 1st floor contains a kosher restaurant and space for co-working. On the last floor, a mikveh, a space for the administration of the Jewish community and an archive of Jewish literature are designed. The second designed building is a newly designed synagogue, which stands on the site of the old synagogue. The original synagogue was burned out during Crystal night. The design pays respect to the original synagogue by including the floor plan of it in the paving pattern.
