Marketing doplňkových produktů muzeí a galerií / Marketing of extended and augmented products of museums and galleries

Čermák, Jiří January 2012 (has links)
The products of the cultural institutions have seen a major development in the past few decades and the supply is becoming more complex. Products and services are designed and produced with the aim of higher customers satisfaction. This thesis deals with the range of products which complement or extend the basic product of museums and galleries, that is exhibitions. The introduction is devoted to theoretical anchoring of ancillary products, its form and characteristics. The second part focuses on specific examples of ancillary products and services (museum shop, cafe and restaurant, lecturing services and educative programs). The paper also points out the deficiencies of the services provided by Czech museums and galleries and also suggests amendments necessary for further development of quality services in the cultural institutions. The final section deals with the legislative and economic aspects of ancillary services in the Czech Republic.

Abandoned spaces, abandoned design

Du Toit, Philip 02 February 2010 (has links)
This dissertation investigates the significant problem of abandoned buildings in the Pretoria Central Business District and, to a lesser extent, the lack of public exposure to art, architecture and design. For the purpose of this study, empty spaces in the City Centre and Die Meent buildings are examined. A new system for their reuse is developed and a gallery for the exhibition of multiple art forms is incorporated therein, as an example of how the aforementioned system can be appropriated. These problems, especially the first, is not restricted to the local urban context. The investigation is thus divided into two phases: the first provides a solution to the challenge of reusing abandoned spaces in buildings; the second phase, as a proposed future exploration of this system, provides a solution to the need for a multi-purpose exhibition area. City Property is the proposed client for the first phase, while MINI Space is the proposed client for the second phase. Empty buildings are a growing concern worldwide, due to concerns for sustainable development and decreasing greenfield sites. This dissertation proposes that the term ‘site’ should be redefined, using the x-y-z axes as a base. By applying the theory of Deconstruction, it is argued that ‘ground zero’ be shifted to a higher level, to include not only the x- and y-axis, but also the z-axis, leading to the creation of truly three-dimensional cities. This project aims to advance a new way of looking at the city and promoting different forms of art. Culturally rich spaces within vibrant cities with multiple levels of living, working and playing, aid the creation of new communities and unique spaces for each individual. Levantamento florístico dos estratos arbustivo e arbóreo de uma mata de galeria em meio a campos rupestres no Parque Estadual do Rio Preto, São Gonçalo do Rio Preto, MG / Floristic survey of shrubs and trees of a gallery forest in \"Campo rupestre\", Parque Estadual do Rio Preto, São Gonçalo do Rio Preto, MG

Eduardo Brandolise Foresto 15 April 2008 (has links)
In the last years several researches have been done in gallery forests in Brazil. The mainly reason for that, is the growing deforestation ocurred in this environment, associated to the perception of the importance of them. Although, we can say that there are still few researches in the biome \"cerrado\". The present work consists on the floristic survey of shrubs and trees of the Capão Azul gallery forest, Parque Estadual do Rio Preto, São Gonçalo do Rio Preto, MG, central region of the Espinhaço mountain range. The species were collected from August 2005 to March 2007 in differents seasons. This work provides an identification species key, comments on geographic distribution and habitat. Ninety one species have been identified, belonging to 71 genera and distributed in 38 families, one of them pteridophyta, one gimnosperm and 89 angiosperms. The families with the greatest number of species are Melastomataceae (11), Myrtaceae (10), Rubiaceae (9) and Fabaceae (7). Comparisons with others forests showed that most of the species are generalists for habitats and have geographic distribution over there South-east region. Besides, a great deal of them belongs to the deciduous and semideciduous forests.

Feasibility for Use of a Seabed Gallery Intake for the Shuqaiq-II SWRO Facility, Saudi Arabia

Mantilla Calderon, David 04 1900 (has links)
Shuqaiq-II IWP is a combined RO water desalination and power plant facility. It operates with an open intake that feeds the plant with 100,000 m3/h of raw water. The facility is located 140 km north of Jizan, in a small bay where the run-off discharges of two wadis converge. The run-off coming from the wadis are rich in alluvial sediments that dramatically decrease the raw water quality at the intake point, causing periodic shutdowns of the plant and increasing the operational cost due to membrane replacement. Subsurface water intakes are an alternative for improving raw water quality, as they provide natural filtering of the feed water as it flows through the systems. In this type of system water flow through the sediment matrix is induced and during the percolation, several physical, chemical and biological processes take place, cleaning the water from particulate matter, resulting in high quality feed water that can be directly sent to the RO process without any additional pretreatment. A full hydrogeological profile of the seabed needs to be performed in order to determine the applicability of one of these systems in each particular location. In this study, 1 km of beach area at Shuqaiq-II IWP was surveyed. Ninety-one (91) samples from the shore and offshore sediments were collected and analyzed for hydraulic conductivity, porosity and grain size distribution. The laboratory analysis showed that the construction of the seabed galleries was technically feasible, and the proposed intake system was design to meet the feed water requirements for the RO facility (530.000 m3/d). The preliminary design consists of 17 cells in total, 16 of which will be in constant operation, and 1 alternate for whenever maintenance is needed in one of the other cells. The seabed gallery design includes 5 layers of sands with a total depth of 5 m. A detailed underdrain design methodology is presented. The system would be operated at an infiltration rate of 10 m/d and an average hydraulic retention time of 7h. Each cell will have an area of 3.500 m2 that will supply 35.000 m3/d of feed water to each RO train.

Nucená uzavření pražských muzeí a galerií v roce 2020. Důsledky nucených uzavření v roce 2020 pro pražská muzea, galerie a jejich adaptace v online světě / The forced closures of Prague's museums and galleries in 2020. The consequences of forced closures in 2020 for Prague's museums, galleries and their adaptation in the online world

Peřina, Milan January 2021 (has links)
In March of 2020, the Czech Republic was hit by the covidu-19 pandemic. This was followed by three waves of forced closures, which limited the activities of museums and galleries and prevented the public from visiting them. The museum presentation has therefore moved to the online sphere, where institutions sought to engage their online visitors with virtual tours, videos, social media communications and other projects. The aim of this diploma thesis was to find out what consequences the forced closures in 2020 had on Prague's museums and galleries and how these institutions managed to adapt in the online world. For this purpose, I chose the methods of a questionnaire survey and an interview. I contacted a total of 64 Prague's museums and galleries, from which I received 32 responses. The results point to far-reaching problems that forced closures have meant for these institutions. Even after reopening, visitor numbers did not return to the state before the covid-19 pandemic broke out. Nevertheless, none of the respondents is in immediate danger of extinction in the near future. The adaptation of Prague's museums and galleries in the online world turned out to be more optimistic. Institutions were able to create a whole range of interesting online projects that caught the attention of their...

Areál VUT Kraví hora / BUT Area Kraví hora

Kříčková, Zuzana January 2018 (has links)
The content of the thesis is an architectural study, which proposes a new use of the grounds of the VUT area on Kraví hora. The aim was to combine the interests of VUT and the City of Brno in this extraordinary territory for the benefit of both subjects. The study addresses not only the VUT land, but also the whole area of Kraví hora, which is one of the unique green spaces in the center of Brno. The High School of Technology at Kraví Hora is one of the most valuable areas of the city of Brno. Just like the rest of Kravi hora. But we are talking about a territory that is scattered over several sub-sections. The biggest problem of the whole mountain is impenetrability and lack of solidarity. Kraví hora is a place that has served history, relaxation, afternoon activities and family trips. Today, it is mainly used as a gardening colony - the private sector. From another part there are spaces that are leased to different companies and private owners. However, the use of these spaces, in most cases, does not correspond to the character that has long since existed. Another problem is poor transport accessibility, low capacity of parking spaces and large distances from the area to public transport stops. In the interest of the City of Brno, cultivation of the Kraví hora as urban green space and the creation of a whole green park, which will serve primarily the public.

Nová synagoga Frýdek-Místek / The new synagogue in Frýdek-Místek

Borisová, Alexandra January 2021 (has links)
The diploma project handles the design of the synagogue and other buildings of the Jewish community in Frýdek - Místek. The project is formed as an architectural study. The complex of the Jewish community includes, in addition to the synagogue itself, a kosher restaurant, which is characterized by a specific cooking convention, as well as a Jewish gallery, a library and the administration of the Jewish community. The whole complex is complemented by an underground car park. The area is located close to the border of the historic city center. The land is not monotonous, in some parts it is relatively flat, in others it is sloping. It is bounded on the north by a blind road and on the south by road II. class on Revoluční street. At present, the territory of the former synagogue is unused and neglected. The idea of the design is based on simple principles of basic geometric shapes - circle and square. The circle is a symbol of heaven and eternity and the square is a symbol of earthliness and transience. The symbolism of numbers is also applied in the proposal, especially "1" - a sign of unity, indivisibility, as well as God; "2" - number of opposites - heaven and earth; "3" completeness and stability. From the compositional point of view, it is a line of 3 blocks of the same base and height, while one of them is fitted with a cylinder, which is the tallest of all objects. This results from the Jewish tradition. All objects are designed on a platform that symbolizes the ascent to the Temple Mount. The above mentioned functions are divided into separate objects. A uniform architectural language is chosen for all buildings. The principles of construction and layout of individual buildings differ according to their operation.
