Residential caregivers’ perceptions of adolescents’ preparedness, as they transition from residential care

Mlambo, Florida Nyasha D January 2021 (has links)
Magister Artium (Social Work) - MA(SW) / The National Policy on Orphans and Vulnerable defines an orphan as a child, who has lost one, or both parents, and is under the age of 18, while a vulnerable child is one, who is in need of care and protection. The Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVCs) are placed in residential childcare facilities (RCCFs), such as children’s homes, shelters, safe havens, or any other alternative form of care. They are provided with psychosocial support, depending on the facility, in which they are placed.Failure to provide proper and specialised care by the caregivers could prove harmful to the overall wellbeing of the child, resulting in children with developmental difficulties, poor interpersonal relationships, mental health difficulties, behavioural difficulties, and poor academic achievement.

THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN BURNOUT AND ROLE STRESSORS AMONG DIRECT SERVICE PROVIDERS AT CENTERS FOR INDEPENDENT LIVING IN REGION V

Sin, Sukkyung 01 August 2012 (has links) (PDF)
The purpose of this study is to determine the levels of burnout and role stresses among direct service providers at centers for independent living in Region V, and investigate the relationship between burnout and role stressors among the population. Results showed that the respondents have average level of emotional exhaustion, high level of depersonalization, and low level of personal accomplishment in categorization of MBI scores. When comparing with the MBI-HSS normative samples, it indicated that these providers experience higher burnout than overall samples and the sample in social services. The obtained results supported the previous view that CIL management problems including low salaries, high staff turnover, insufficient resources, excessive caseload, unsatisfactory reward, or general lack of control over job tasks and responsibilities that may effect to high burnout.

The Usefulness of Auditory Aid in Reading Assignments for Dyslexic L2 English Learners in Secondary School / Hörselhjälpens användbarhet i läsuppgifter för dyslektiska andraspråksinlärare av engelska i högstadiet

Vesterlund, Erik, Fejsal Odah, Fatma January 2023 (has links)
In a democratic school system, all students should be included regardless of their individual differences. However, dyslexic students run the risk of being left behind in the process of becoming an independent reader. Being an independent reader facilitates further academic endeavors, helps the individual navigate the globalized world and invites the individual to read for pleasure. Due to a deficit in phonological awareness, dyslexic L2 English students face obstacles in reading tasks which they could overcome with the help of auditory aid. This study aims to investigate in what ways auditory aid can aid Swedish dyslexic L2 English students in secondary school, and what obstacles said group face with regard to the classroom environment, teaching methods and didactical considerations that language and special teachers apply. A survey was constructed to collect data regarding language and special teachers didactical choices. The results show that a majority of the participants use some kind of auditory aid in reading tasks when teaching dyslexic L2 students. However, the results also suggest that a number of language and special teachers do not incorporate individualized learner profiles and programs which are specifically designed to aid dyslexic students. This implies that language and special teachers may be unsure of the actual role of such programs. In addition, the effectiveness of auditory aid in individualized programs needs to be investigated further.

'Cool' cinema sells : Examining the role of indie film company A24 in thecontemporary neoliberal US film industry

Kampers, Loren January 2023 (has links)
This research approaches independent film producer-distributor company A24 as a neoliberalentity in the context of the contemporary indie film industry. A24’s deliberate construction ofa public image as the ‘cool’ outsider positions them on the borders of independentcinema—in Indiewood. By means of a critical discourse analysis on A24’s indieness, framedby theories of paratextuality and neoliberalism, this research examines the essence of indieoppositionality as performed by A24. The respective indieness and neoliberal character ofindustry trendsetter A24 assist in reflecting on the general trend of independent cinema sincethe digital media wave of the mid-2010s, and suggest a trend towards a neoliberalmainstream-alternative middle ground.

Spotify som nödvändighet i den nyamusikbranschen : Bland gatekeepers och hierarkier i streamingmiljön

Jonsson, Lars January 2021 (has links)

Separation in Plato's Phaedo

Wilhelmsson, Johannes January 2024 (has links)
An investigation into whether Plato was committed to separate Forms in the Phaedo. Two accounts of separation are distinguished: Gail Fine's modal account where separation is a capacity to exist independendently from sensible particulars, and Daniel D. Devereux' non-modal account where separation is equivalent with non-immanence. I analyse multiple key passages of the Phaedo using these accounts of separation, to see whether any passage commits Plato to separation understood in either modal or non-modal terms. I argue and conclude that there is no evidence of Plato being committed to separation in the Phaedo, understanding separation in either modal or non-modal terms.
