Křesťanské úsilí o mír. Křesťanská mírová konference v letech 1958-1968 / Christian Peace Efforts. Christian Peace Conference between 1958 and 1968

Beneš, Ladislav January 2021 (has links)
This diploma thesis focuses on the roots and activities of Christian Peace Conference (CPC) in the years 1958-1968 when it was presided by Josef L. Hromádka. The author of this thesis examines the roots of the organization in Czechoslovak and German context starting in the interwar period. The thesis analyses how the beginnings of CPC were impacted by the Second World War experience of the generation of founders of the organization and also how they were impacted by the events preceding and following the war. Specifically, the focus of the research is the relationship between Christians and Marxists and furthermore the Christians' perception and experience of socialism as a social order as it was presented in CPC. Simultaneously, the thesis focuses on the possibilities of an existence of international organization during the Cold War and the role it played for the actors at that time.

The aim of this diploma thesis is to analyze ideas how to deal with the german question after the Second World War which were brought up by one of the largest postwar ecumenical organizations - Christian Peace Conference. Using this example, the author of this thesis wants to describe nature of the organization whose establishment was initiated by the cooperation between theologians and active Christians from the Eastern bloc and their Western counterparts, particularly the ones from the Federal Republic of Germany. Therefore, the thesis presents ideas of Christian Peace Conference and then compares them with the development of international relations during the Cold War and shows potential political implications of these ideas. This issue also illustrates the evolution of negotiations among European actors in the international arena after 1968. A qualitative research of motivation factors of Russian Christian men for regular voluntary church ministry

Libuda, Klaus 11 1900 (has links)
The religious freedom introduced to Russia in 1989, due to perestroika, gave new opportunities for Christianity to expand. People accepted Christ and new churches were founded. Nevertheless after 16 years of transformation the evangelical churches in Russia are diminishing in growth. There are probably several reasons for this. One major reason which is suggested here, is that only a minority of Russian Christian men are willing to take up regular voluntary church ministry: like being a home group leader, taking care of the church building, having a part in Sunday school teaching, helping with the youth group or any other kind of service. As a result, not only are pastors often overloaded with administration work and can not find time for people but also ministry opportunities are not started, developed or expanded. Therefore this research aims to find out which factors are important to Russian Christian men in order for them to engage a regular voluntary church ministry. / Christian Spirituality, Church History and Missiology / M. Posmrtný život v evangelických představách / Protestant Images of Life after Death

Zálešáková, Debora January 2015 (has links)
This thesis deals with the topic of afterlife in the evangelical imagination. It aims to find out the space for consolation (after the death of a youth) in the evangelical afterlife imaginations. The theoretical part deals with issues of death and afterlife in anthropological and biblical context. The thesis also defines the concepts of funeral and consolation. In the analytical part the thesis introduces four evangelical pastors who were interviewed regarding the funeral of a youth and specific topic of funeral at which the pastor is emotionally interested. Furthermore, the analytical part deals with the topics of personal attitudes towards death, the manner of dealing with it, images of afterlife and the ways of consolation. Using qualitative research methodology the thesis analyzes the research question of how particular evangelical pastors cope with the death of a youth in the context of the doctrine. Theological education in the Lesotho Evangelical Church : a descriptive analysis.

Moore, Jeff. January 2010 (has links)
This dissertation presents a descriptive analysis of theological education in the Lesotho Evangelical Church, focussed largely on the work of Morija Theological Seminary. The dissertation provides an historical overview of the Lesotho Evangelical Church‘s work of theological education, and describes analytically various elements of and the roles of participants in preparation for the ordained ministry in the Lesotho Evangelical Church. This project proceeded as an organisational case study, and employed enthographic tools such as participant observation, documentary research, focus group interviews, and semi-structured individual interviews over the course of approximately two years between 2005 and 2007. Specific areas of investigative concentration included Campus Life and General Course of Study; Contextual Applicability of Pastoral Skills and Knowledge; Field Education; Christianity in Culture; Poverty; and HIV and AIDS. This dissertation presents data and discussion related primarily to findings in the first of these areas, and investigates data related to worship life, governance, and interpersonal relationships at Morija Theological Seminary as they relate to the educational task of the institution and its role within and connectedness to the history, life, and organisational structure of the wider Lesotho Evangelical Church. Findings are presented in conversation with Michel Foucault‘s presentation of the development of ―delinquency‖ in Discipline and Punish: The Birth of the Prison, and within the context of assertions about normative relationships within Christianity and theological education, including Craig Dykstra‘s suggestion that theological seminaries should be "communities of faith and learning." The descriptive analysis and accompanying research data are presented as the first step of what Don Browning has called "fundamental practical theology." / Thesis (Ph.D.)-University of KwaZulu-Natal, Pietermaritzburg, 2010.

Women be silent : the ministry of women in the Evangelical Church of South Africa (ECSA)

Naidoo, Devan. January 2001 (has links)
There has been much discussion on the roles of men and women in the church today. One of the crucial questions being asked is whether women should be ordained as ministers. Many debates have been centered on the question, "Should women teach?" "Should women exercise authority with men?" "Are men and women equal?" These questions have been approached from different angles. In recent years many denominations have increased opportunities for women in ministry. This thesis sets out to look at opportunities for women in ministry in the Evangelical Church of South Africa (ECSA). It is important to discover what Scripture says about the role of women in the church. The desire to be totally involved in ministry in the church has prompted women's struggle for emancipation. By looking at the culture and background of Indian women in South Africa we are able to ascertain some of the problems facing Indian women in ministry. In order to do this, Old Testament teachings, teachings of Jesus in the gospels and doctrinal teachings in the New Testament have been considered. Various views of those who have written on women in ministry have also been considered. This thesis is not an attempt to undermine the leadership of the ECSA, but rather it wishes to bring clarity on the issue of the ministry of women in the ECSA. / Thesis (M.A.)-University of Natal, Pietermaritzburg, 2001.
