A qualitative research of motivation factors of Russian Christian men for regular voluntary church ministry

Libuda, Klaus 11 1900 (has links)
The religious freedom introduced to Russia in 1989, due to perestroika, gave new opportunities for Christianity to expand. People accepted Christ and new churches were founded. Nevertheless after 16 years of transformation the evangelical churches in Russia are diminishing in growth. There are probably several reasons for this. One major reason which is suggested here, is that only a minority of Russian Christian men are willing to take up regular voluntary church ministry: like being a home group leader, taking care of the church building, having a part in Sunday school teaching, helping with the youth group or any other kind of service. As a result, not only are pastors often overloaded with administration work and can not find time for people but also ministry opportunities are not started, developed or expanded. Therefore this research aims to find out which factors are important to Russian Christian men in order for them to engage a regular voluntary church ministry. / Christian Spirituality, Church History and Missiology / M. The social, political, economic and religious contexts were analysed in order to present an overall idea of how the Congregational Evangelical Church was established in Angola. The presence of the first North American missionaries in the interior of the country as well as other episodes that occurred during the establishment of the Baliundo Church, which was considered the center of King Ekuikui II s kingdom in the early days of the Church, are presented. The development of the church, pastoral models, the cooperation of native peoples in the dissemination of the Gospel, the institutions of the Church, and the name change of the Church are given special attention. Relationships of genre, cultural formation, the pastoral formation of women, and the main courses given in missionary centers and in Dondi are discussed. The courses given included domestic economy, instruction in reading and writing, Christian and women s formation and delivery training instruction for midwives. The contribution of women to the development of the church and to the society was diversified, and continues until the present day. However, the work of lay women, the deaconess, minister s wives and their implementation of the Christian program merit special attention. The research also refers to the difficulties faced by women in the process of their formation, and the current situation of women s pastoral formation in Huambo and Angola as a whole. The present work proposes the pastoral formation of women as being capable of narrowing the gap between the old and the new generations / Esta dissertação tem por objetivo analisar a mulher congregacional, sua formação pastoral no período de 1965-1975, considerado de grande desenvolvimento da Igreja.

The understanding of theologians whose approach focuses on Eco(Teo)logy is that spirituality can be a tool for environmental awareness and thus contribute to the formation of a new ecological awareness and engagement on the part of the Evangelical Church. The contribution of discursive tradition in building a biblical theological discourse environment has been updated with the readings of the traditions of creation, destruction and restoration, respectively found in the books of Genesis and Revelation in the Judeo-Christian Scriptures. The expectation that revolved around this research was to determine whether the theological discourse may or may not contribute to environmental awareness and, therefore, were surveyed institutional and ecclesiastical practices of environmental evangelical theological discourse, observing, recording and analyzing the participation of some Evangelical Christian ONGs, Brazilian Baptist Convention, the Baptist Church in Brazil and especially in Cabedelo, PB, in relation to their performance in relation to environmental issues in order to improve the quality of life in the local community. The methodology for the research included the development of literature and documentary observation, the photographic record and analyze speech, experienced from the social perspective of Foucault. The purpose of this work is to understand the relationships between ecological and theological discourses and its practice at Baptist Church, in the city of Cabedelo, PB.

The Struggle of the Lesotho Evangelical Church in Southern Africa (LECSA)/Paris Evangelical Missionary Society (PEMS) in Meadowlands, Soweto, in becoming a missional ecclesia in a local context

Kganyapa, Leonard Tsidiso January 2016 (has links)
The existence of the Lesotho Evangelical Church in Southern Africa (LECSA) or Paris Evangelical Missionary Society (PEMS) in the Western Areas of Johannesburg, South Western Township (Soweto) and more poignantly, Meadowlands and their forced removals experience is succinctly captured. The struggle of the LECSA/PEMS Meadowlands Parish in becoming a missional ecclesia in a sea of missional challenges in her context are vividly spelt out. They, inter alia, include constitutional matters, language policy, finances, ministerial preparation, lay-ministry development, institutionalisation of ministry, unity issues, prophetic ministry, mission and evangelism. The researcher, then, proposes an intervention – of course not a perfect one – that perhaps will galvanise the LECSA/PEMS Meadowlands Parish members to improve on what they have been doing and become a missional ecclesia in her context, Meadowlands. / Dissertation (MA)--University of Pretoria, 2016. / tm2016 / Science of Religion and Missiology / MA / Unrestricted

A Phenomenographic Study Critique of Evangelistic Equipping Among Pastors Aligned with the Evangelical Church

Budd, Mervyn J 11 1900 (has links)
Evangelical churches hold evangelism as a hallmark of their movement, but evangelism and conversion rates are in decline. Might this decline be the result of absent or inadequate evangelistic equipping on the part of the church? This project presents a phenomenographic analysis and critique on how congregations are being equipped for evangelism. It employs both surveys of congregational members as well as pastoral leaders. Follow-up interviews with pastoral leaders have also been used to clarify findings from the initial surveys. These interviews have been analyzed to discover the qualitatively different understandings that are evident in the data regarding the phenomenon of evangelistic equipping. These understandings are categorized, and a description of each category type is provided. The results of these findings provide a more expansive understanding of the equipping task and offer specific ways in which the task of evangelistic equipping can be expanded to serve the Evangelical church better.
