Vodojemy - Brno, Žlutý kopec / Reservoirs - Brno, Zluty kopec (Yellow hill)

Menšíková, Kateřina Unknown Date (has links)
Master’s thesis focuses on area of historic water reservoirs on Yellow Hill, situated between streets of Tomešova and Tvrdého. They continued to supply Brno with non-potable water until 1997 and TIC is currently looking for a new way to make water reservoirs accesable and more interesting to the general public. Due to the existence of underground reservoirs the site has remained undeveloped and is covered with dense greenery. Thanks to that, the character of the place is in the context of the surrounding build-up area very unique. The proposal not only respects that, but seeks to support it. The whole area is undergoing through new landscape design and is completed by three single-storey pavilions, which with their various functions ensure the operation of the site. The historic buildings that were used to manage the underground reservoirs are renovated and integrated into the operation of the site. An important part of the design is also the solution of barrier-free access to reservoirs, their interconnection and installation of optical device - the Camery Obscury in the oldest of the reservoirs. The whole place becomes more accesible and attractive for visitors.

Experimental study on innovative connections for large span structural timber trusses

Werner Åström, Petter January 2019 (has links)
Large span timber trusses are usually built with glulam. One problem with large span glulam trusses is that the connections needed to transfer the load between truss members are often complex and expensive. Another issue is transportation. Building large span trusses out of structural timber instead, could be a way of simplifying the connections and at the same time increase the degree of on-site construction and thereby solving the transportation problem. In this study, a total of 18 laboratory tests were performed with the purpose of investigating the tensile strength and the load slip behavior of different connection designs for large span structural timber trusses. Six different test groups corresponding to six different connection designs were tested. The materials used include members made of C24 timber and gusset plates made of birch plywood, aluminum, and steel. Screws were used as fasteners for five test groups and adhesive was used for one group. The influence of different reinforcement techniques including reinforcement screws and added aluminum sheets was studied. The results showed a ductile failure behavior for all test groups except for the group where adhesive was used. However, a decrease of ductility was observed for groups were aluminum sheets were used on the outsides of the mid placed plywood gusset plate. A 12-17 % increase in capacity was observed due to the presence of aluminum sheets. The reinforcement screws had no significant effect on the capacity. However, the presence of reinforcement screws did lead to a reduction in scatter both regarding capacity and stiffness.

Proposta de um método de ensaio para o controle de qualidade na produção de elementos estruturais de MLC e LVL / Proposal of a test method for quality control in the MLC and LVL structural elements production

Nogueira, Rodrigo de Souza 11 April 2017 (has links)
Nowadays, the Brazilian industries follow the foreign countries standard regulation to the quality control of characterization of structural elements produced from Glued Laminated Timber (glulam) and Laminated Veneer Lumber (LVL) due to the absence of national specifications. This work has the purpose of verifying the suggested methods of regulation projects, such as ABNT NBR PN 02:126.10-001-3 and ABNT NBR PN 02:126.10-001-5, to determine the properties of glued timber structural elements to quality control of producer industry. Therefore, glulam beams and fingerjoints groups, produced from several combinations of woods and adhesives, were obtained from industries. In addition, it was used flatwise LVL beams groups and edgewise LVL beams groups. It was made the static bending tests to determine strength and stiffness for each beam. Furthermore, from the beams it was extracted samples in order to test shear in the glue line, delamination and parallel grain compression whereas the fingerjoints were analysed by the parallel grain tensile test. The procedures taken on the experimental program can be considered suitable for industrial usage at quality control of production of structural elements from glulam and LVL. The delamination test for adhesive exposed to external environment, proposal in the new standard, can be analysed as practical and effective. In relation to the shear test, the number of analysis by sample can be reduced, whether prioritized the test in the central region of transversal section due to higher shear stress concentration. As expected, the fingerjoints formed fragile points, reducing strength for some beams and by presenting rupture when tensile stressed. In the LVL, the edgewise groups presented better bending and shear resistance than flatwise groups. The new test method is presented in annex in this dissertation.

Mateřská škola / Kindergarten

Svobodová, Simona January 2017 (has links)
The topic of my diploma project considers a new building for a kindergarten in the city quarter Brno-Bystrc. The building lot where is the kindergarten located is rectangular in shape and is genty sloping. The building consists of a groundfloor only, without a basement and is solved as barrier-free. The kindergarten has 2 classrooms with the overal capacity of 50 children. On the west side of the plot is considered a parking lot for 13 cars, from here there is a sidewalk reaching the main gate and further the main entrance of the building. The structural wooden system use wooden wall panels NOVATOP. The foundation slab from reinforced concrete is layed on a glass foam granulate. The roof is designed as a green flat roof. The building has an atypical layout. The central part is raised and has a hexagonal contour, in its center is located a glazed atrium. On two sides of the hexagon are symmetrically located two more wings, which has a nearly rectangular shape. In front of the building is located a playground, faced to the south.
