The present paper analyzes the features of the object in traditional and semantic syntax. A special attention is payed to the processes and the ways of expressing the object in each of them, namely, in material, mental, verbal, relational, existential and happening processes. The examples were taken from the novel "The Great Gatsby" by F. Scott Fitzgerald. / Darbe analizuojamas papildinys bei kaip jis yra išreiškiamas tradicinėjė ir semantinėjė sintaksėje. Pavyzdžiai naudoti šiame darbe buvo renkami iš F. Scott Fitzgerald novelės "Didysis Getsbis".
