Salvador

An I/O Controller Design for a Mainframe Computer in a Military Training Device

Cara, Robert E. 01 January 1985 (has links) (PDF)
The design of an I/O Controller capable of processing data in real time in a tactical training simulator is presented. The controller consists of two microprocessor systems that communicate with peripherals by means of programmed I/O, and with the host computer by Direct Memory Access (DMA) and a serial RS232 link. This thesis addresses both the hardware and software aspects of the controller design.

Simulation Model to Evaluate Performance of Operational Systems and their Impact on Repair Shop Activity at a Navy Field Site

Newell, James T. 01 October 1979 (has links) (PDF)
This paper presents the background and procedures leading to development of a simulation model to analyze the impact of certain decision variables on operational system performance and workloads as the repair facility of a typical Navy field site. The research examines the impact of maintenance support concepts, as implemented by changes in the decision variables, associated with the broader application of Automatic Test Equipment. The initial effort consisted of data collection and field site surveys which culminated in defining a work flow model illustrating typical repair facility operations. The work flow model is translated into a computer simulation model. The baseline model contains all the values for failure rates, delay times, and probability decision parameters derived from the available data. The simulation model is then exercised and the output data recorded for comparison with historical data to validate the model and provide a baseline for comparison as the decision parameters are varied. Of the variables exercised, it appears that the Built-in-Test (BIT), or Self-test capability, is one of the more important design considerations in the original operating systems.

Applications of Artificial Intelligence in Military Training Simulation

Golovcsenko, Igor V. 01 January 1987 (has links) (PDF)
This report is a survey of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology contributions to military training. It provides an overview of military training simulation and a review of instructional problems and challenges which can be addressed by AI. The survey includes current as well as potential applications of AI, with particular emphasis on design and system integration issues. Applications include knowledge and skills training in strategic planning and decision making, tactical warfare operations, electronics maintenance and repair, as well as computer-aided design of training systems. The report describes research contributions in the application of AI technology to the training world, and it concludes with an assessment of future research directions in this area.

Vliv vybraných pohybových trendů aktivujících hluboký stabilizační systém u dialyzovaných pacientů - literární rešerše. / The effect of selected exercise trends activating core stability system in dialysed patients - overview of the literature.

Burianová, Katarína January 2015 (has links)
Title: The effect of selected exercise trends activating core stability system in dialysed patients - overview of the literature. Objective: Objective of this diploma thesis was to obtain and compare available studies dealing with exercise trends such as yoga, pilates, tai chi and balance training devices and to evaluate their effect on core stability system of dialysed patients. Methods: This diploma thesis has descriptively-analytical character and is structured in a form of literary review. Results: Issue of dialysis in connection with core stability system has not been sufficiently explored yet in literary sources. In conclusion, there were no studies found dealing with effects of particular exercise trends on core stability system of dialysed patients. In order to comprehend this issue an overview was written to define the effect of such trends on dialysed patients. Also, complications arising from renal failure and dialysis were mentioned such as hypertension, diabetes melitus and obesity. The effect of these trends on core stability system of healthy population as well as patients suffering from chronic back pain was described too. Conclusion: Some extent of coherence was found between strengthening core stability system and its effect on dialysed patients however further in- depth research...

A Monte Carlo Approach to Ridge Discriminant Analysis

Wooldridge, Lee 01 January 1980 (has links) (PDF)
A combined analytical and empirical method to define human performance measures is required for effective automated training. In theory, performance measures can be weighted and combined in a single first order equation upon which an automated training system can track a student's comparative skill level. A form of multivariate discriminant analysis was the statistical technique incorporated into the measurement selection and weighting scheme. (Vreuls and Wooldridge 1977). As with regression analysis, this discriminant technique was subject to debilitating problems such as overfit and undesirable inaccuracies in the coefficients. The author developed and implemented an adjustment to the discriminant function analogous to the ridge regression analysis suggested by Hoerl and Kemmard (1970a). To further demonstrate the effectiveness of ridge discriminant analysis and to determine useful performance criteria the author developed a Monte Carlo Simulation which provided a relative comparison of various performance measurement models. Two sets of human performance data were used to demonstrate this new statistical tool.
