Critical requirements of trolley-bus operator's job

Stoyva, Johann Martin January 1956 (has links)
The major aim of the study was to determine the critical requirements of the trolley-bus operator's job by employment of the critical incident technique, with the ultimate objective of providing an empirical criterion of performance in that job. It was also desired to examine certain methodological features of the critical requirement approach. The technique developed by Flanagan Involves interviewing qualified observers to obtain "critical incidents." These are first-hand reports of actual behaviour which the observer has judged to constitute highly effective or highly ineffective performance of the job under study. Critical incidents with reference to the behaviour of trolley-bus operators were collected from three groups by face-to-face interviews of 134 trolley-bus operators and 33 supervisors, and from 108 members of the travelling public by telephone interview. Interviews with the three groups yielded a total of 786 critical incidents which were formulated into 33 critical requirements. By grouping similar critical requirements five major areas were delineated. In order of frequency of critical incidents which they represent these are: 1. Dealing with public 2. Safe driving 3. Skillful and courteous operation 4. Maintaining service 5- Relations with supervisors The data were analyzed to show the distribution of the critical incidents amongst the 33 critical requirements and the five major areas. Various breakdowns of the data were tabulated in detail. Suggestions were given for the construction of check list and rating scale type performance ratings based upon the critical requirements. The problem of weighting critical requirements in relation to functional importance was discussed. Two methodological problems were studied. The effect of lapse of time between the critical incident and its recall was examined. A significant difference was found in the pattern of distribution of critical incidents collected within one month of occurrence and those recalled over a longer period. Collection of incidents by telephone interview was employed for one group of respondents, the public, and found to be a satisfactory technique. . / Arts, Faculty of / Philosophy, Department of / Graduate

Trolley Innovation Project - Serveringsvagn för flygindustrin

Ericson, Peter, Steineck, Nils January 2009 (has links)

Bachelor thesis, Trolley Innovation Project, has been unique in the sense that it has been carried out over the borders of Sweden. Iacobucci S.p.A, located outside of Rome in Italy is one of the largest manufacturers of interior equipment for aircraft in the world. With approximately 30% of the market Iacobucci S.p.A is one of the world's largest manufacturers of catering trolleys.

The aim has been to produce a new competitive catering trolley for the airline industry. With customers and users in focus, the project team found that weight, ease of use, ergonomics and design were important aspects. Having a low weight of all the interior is particularly important when there is lots of money for the airlines to save in reduced fuel costs. The weight is really important, because of the currently major liquidity problems in the industry.

There are a lot of requirements how to build a catering trolley. For example, size, material, weight, safety, etc. This makes it extra hard to be innovative. Trolley Innovation Project has nevertheless, managed to build a catering trolley, that is up to three kilograms lighter than the existing variants from Iacobucci S.p.A. Among other things, a new brake system is developed, which is nearly 80% lighter than previously and also more ergonomic and user friendly. A new multi-functional side panel have been developed, whose structure is up to three times stiffer against a flat surface, and at the same time fulfills the purpose of shelves on the inside.

What will Trolley Innovation Project lead to? Thanks to the project new business links with Swedish and international companies have been created. The project team hopes that these contacts will remain valuable in the future. The innovations that have been developed during Trolley Innovation Project will inspire the product development work in a conservative industry and in particular lead to a more customer-and user-adapted catering trolley. The catering trolley will as a whole, or parts of it, lead to Iacobucci S.p.A's market share increases.

Trolebus, espaço e sociedade / Trolley-bus, space and society

Ferreira, Enéas Rente 12 June 1995 (has links)
This work reports a trial to demonstrate that the study of a set of information from discussions about the last decade Geography\'s way can allow the identification of concepts and useful processes to explain the relationships between urban transportation equipments and the State, the space and the innovation difusion process in our Society. For this some meditation results on the space\'s role, urban space, relationships between space and State or urban transportation and space, innovation diffusion, and the story of trolleybus in Brazil was related. The data analysis on operation of trolleys in five cities, where today (1994) passengers are conducted by eletric buses in Brazil and the results of the trolley story on the concepts results from the reflexion exposed and the general conclusion that cooperate with this thesis are detailed here.
