Tripanosomiases are among the most serious parasitic diseases in man and other animais in Africa, Asia and South America. Trypanosoma evansi has a wide range of hosts and is pathogenic to most domestic animais causing surra disease. The goal of this study was to observe the clinical evulation, the changes hematiological, biochemical, parasitological and anatomopathology in 90ats experimentally infected with T evansi. Six goats were inoculated with 2,38 x 106 trypanosomes and four were kept as non-infected control. Clinical exams were made twice a day for 60 consecutive days, later even two days until the 73th DAI (days postinoculation) and every other week until the end of the observation period. Hematological and biochemical analysis were performed daily until 14th DAI and weekly until 98th DAI and every other week until the end of the observation period. Detection of the T evansi in goats peripherical blood was made by direct blood, by reparing blood smears satined with May-Gruenwald and Giemsa's stain, by Strout concentration method and througth biological test (rat inoculation). The presence of the parasites was detected between 21th and 95th DAI by direct blood. The biological test showed thet ali inoculated goats were infected until the end of the study period. Rectal temperature, rumenal movements and cardiac and respiratory frequencies did not present significant differences, three inoculated animais present increasing of the external Iymph nodes volumes. Changes hematological and biochemical were observed. Antibodies were detected, through the IFAT by the 14th DAI, reaching maximal titers of 1 :1280 between 28th and 168th DAI. Changes histopathological include hyperplasia of Iymph nodes and fatty degeneration of hepatocytes. This result indicates thet the goats can be reservoir hosts with the Trypanosoma evansi satin used in this work.
