Este trabalho relata e analisa as principais questões teóricas e práticas envolvidas na formação da moeda única europeia, e examina as implicações relevantes para a proposta de unificação monetária no Mercosul. Entre as conclusões, ressalta-se a importância do desenvolvimento futuro de um conjunto de requisitos para o sucesso da integração monetária, os quais ainda estão ausentes no âmbito do Mercosul. / This dissertation intends to report and analyze the practical and theoretical questions involued in the formation of the European Currency Union, and examines the implications relevant to the proposal of monetary unification in Mercosur. Among the conclusions, the importance of the future development of a group of requirements for the success of the Mercosur Monetary Integration which are still absent in the realm of Mercosur.
