Few countries can boast of having the culture of volunteering seen in the United States. In explaining this phenomenon, many empirical studies have found religiosity significant in predicting volunteering behaviors among young adults, adults, and the elderly. However, teens (13 – 17 years) have not attracted much attention from researchers, though they possess the time and resources most needed to volunteer. Using data from the National Study on Youth and Religion (NSYR) Wave 1, this study examines the relationship between volunteering and teens’ private (religious salience and religious experience) and collective religiosity (religious tradition, church attendance, and youth group participation). Parental variables and teen demographics are also tested using a three-stage ordinal logistic regression. Regarding individual religiosity, the results suggested a significant relationship between teens’ religious experiences and volunteering. In addition, parents can induce volunteering by encouraging their teens to volunteer and participate in religious youth groups.

In my thesis, I focused on the effects of volunteering on professional employment chances of graduates. The theoretical part is devoted to volunteering, its kinds, and its importance to the personal development of volunteers. The other half of the theoretical part of this thesis is devoted to jobs and their comparison with volunteering. My objective was to find out whether employers prefer, when selecting their employees, graduates who have experience and skills from volunteering, and how this experience is viewed by employers in the non-profit sector as compared with employers outside the sector. I used the method of questioning, the technique of questionnaires, and controlled interviews. The results were elaborated in graphical form with absolute figures and tables using the chi square statistical test. The results of this thesis have confirmed my initial hypotheses, namely that employers prefer graduates with experience from volunteering and that the experience from volunteering of graduates is evaluated as an important element in recruitment, especially by non-profit sector employers. A following step to improve understanding of volunteering by employers would be, I my opinion, to suggest changes to legislation that would help organizations make better use of volunteer assistance. I would like to suggest to volunteers themselves to record better their volunteering activities so that they can use such materials as an attachment to their CV{\crq}s when applying for a job.

This master thesis focuses on corporate volunteering as a specific area of corporate social responsibility. It compares examples of corporate volunteering projects implemented in the Czech environment and explores possibilities for further development. In addition to greater depths it is dedicated to corporate volunteering at ABB Czech Republic. The master thesis comes from my own experience during a working in ABB Czech Republic for last three years. The aim of this study is to monitor corporate volunteering programs and their comparison with other companies on the Czech market, employee motivation for these activities, finding the right communication channels for voluntary activities and based on the information find new possibilities of corporate volunteering.

This diploma thesis describes term volunteering work in czech legal framework and also characterizes motivation for this volunteer work. Widespread organization in Czech Republic is association of volunteer firefighter departments. This thesis describes irreablaceable leading role of these departments in local culture and their benefit for society. Predefined theoretical findings are shown on a case of female members of voluntary firefighter deparments involved in civic association called Podlipanská liga.

Current research shows positive benefits of volunteering for the society but also for volunteers themselves. In this context, a new phenomenon, called inclusive volunteering, is emerging, which emphasizes that volunteering is open to all people in the society. At present, however, this phenomenon is not fully elucidated and researches that examine volunteering from the point of view of volunteers themselves, when considering inklusive volunteering, are very rare. The presented work aims to fill in the missing knowledge and thus contribute to the recognition of the phenomenon of volunteering through research of the previously very little known group of volunteers with a disability. The diploma thesis deals with short-term volunteering called volunteer tourism (VT) or also known as "voluntourism". This type of volunteering has gained its popularity but has also been criticized by experts on volunteering. The aim of this work is to introduce the issue of VT to examine critical views from the side of experts to analyze the perception of VT by Czech volunteers who have completed the VT project and compare these reflections with expert criticism. The theoretical part is focused on the introduction of VT and analysis of scientific texts, dealing with criticism of VT. The empirical part is focused on the statements of volunteers themselves and their subsequent comparison with professional criticism. In conclusion of the diploma thesis there is a summary of research results and discussion of the differences in the reflection of two levels of participants. This thesis is concerned with the barriers to volunteering in nonprofit organizations working in Prague 5 in the field of social services. It is a qualitative research that specifically focuses on NGOs and also the state non-profit organization, which are compared in terms of their attitudes to volunteering in general and also in terms of perceived barriers to volunteering. In the analysis of barriers to volunteering is among others searched for the "locally-specific" factors, i.e. factors associated with Prague 5 or capital city Prague, which may affect the attitudes of non-profit organizations towards volunteering. In conclusion, there are shown some ways to overcome existing barriers to volunteering and to support the development of volunteering in nonprofit organizations.

This thesis seeks to collectively map the issue capture and volunteering in the Internet environment. It specifies the sources and monitors the possibilities to participate in volunteer activities on the Internet.

Yes / Community-based peer volunteer interventions are increasingly used with people who are asylum seekers and refugees accessing health services. There is a dearth of evidence evaluating the benefits of volunteering for asylum seeking or refugee volunteers. Volunteers may have poor mental health and feel socially isolated due to their experiences as refugees and asylum seekers and may struggle or be unable to obtain paid employment. Volunteering in other contexts has been found to be beneficial to the health and well-being of the volunteer. This paper reports on an aspect of a wider study evaluating the community-based Health Access for Refugees Project, with the aim of exploring the impact of volunteering on the health and well-being of the peer (asylum seeker or refugee) volunteer. In 2020, we conducted qualitative semistructured interviews by phone with 15 volunteers who were asylum seekers or refugees. The interviews were audio recorded, data were transcribed verbatim and the data set was thematically analysed. We found that the positive relationships which developed and the training received through volunteering boosted volunteers' mental well-being. They felt motivated and confident in helping others, felt a sense of belonging and this reduced their social isolation. They also believed they benefited personally, helping their access to health services, and preparing them for future education, training or a career. In light of the beneficial nature of volunteering identified in this study, establishing more volunteering opportunities for this population and other marginalised groups with poor mental health is recommended. However, more research is needed to assess both the long-term impact of the role in terms of the peer volunteer's health and well-being, and the societal benefit of people moving on, integrating and contributing to society. / Refugee Council
