Participaram da pesquisa 141 alunos, de ambos os sexos, na faixa etária entre 8 e 11 anos, alunos da 2a a 4a série do ensino fundamental, da rede pública de um município no interior de São Paulo. Para a obtenção dos dados foram utilizados o Teste de Desempenho Escolar (TDE), Escala de Autoeficácia e Escala de Motivação para alunos do ensino fundamental. A aplicação dos instrumentos foi realizada em pequenos grupos, com dez alunos cada, em três encontros para cada grupo Os dois primeiro encontro tiveram duração aproximada de 60 minutos cada, o terceiro teve duração aproximada de 10 minutos para cada participante Os resultados revelam uma correlação significativa e negativa entre o desempenho em leitura, escrita, aritmética e no TDE geral e a motivação extrínseca e a motivação total. Também foi encontrada uma correlação significativa e negativa entre o desempenho em escrita, aritmética e no TDE geral e a motivação intrínseca. Não houve correlação significativa entre autoeficácia e desempenho em leitura, escrita e aritmética. Quanto à relação entre a motivação intrínseca e a autoeficácia para o desempenho para o estudo e a autoeficácia geral os dados evidenciam que houve correlação significativa e positiva entre as variáveis. Os resultados demonstram uma relação significativa e negativa entre a motivação extrínseca e a autoeficácia para o estudo. Com relação à associação entre a motivação total, autoeficácia para o estudo, autoeficácia para o desempenho e autoeficácia geral, os resultados evidenciam que não houve correlações significativas. Os resultados mostraram que, quanto ao desempenho em leitura, aritmética e no TDE geral, os grupos se diferenciaram em relação à motivação extrínseca e à motivação total. Com relação ao desempenho em escrita, os grupos se diferenciaram em relação à motivação intrínseca, motivação extrínseca e à motivação total. / Abstract: The aim of this study is to investigate existent relationships between schoolchildren performance and the psychological variables self-efficacy and motivation. The research included 141 schoolchildren ranging from 8 to 11 years old in second, third, and fourth grade primary school in a town in the state of São Paulo. Data for this study were obtained from the School Performance Test (Teste de Desempenho Escolar, TDE), the Self-Efficacy Scale, and the Motivation Scale for students at primary school. The application of instruments was performed in small groups of 10 students each, during three meetings for each group. The two first meetings lasted for approximately 60 minutes, and the third took approximately 10 minutes for each participant. The results show a significant negative correlation between performances in reading, writing, arithmetic and general TDE, and extrinsic motivation and total motivation.The results also show a significant negative correlation between performances in writing, arithmetic and general TDE, and intrinsic motivation. There was no significant correlation between self-efficacy and performances in reading, writing, and arithmetic. As for the relationship between intrinsic motivation and self-efficacy in learning performance and general self-efficacy, data reveal a significant positive correlation between the variables. Results show a significant negative relation between extrinsic motivation and self-efficacy in studying. In regards to linking total motivation, self-efficacy in studying, self-efficacy in performance and general self-efficacy, results show that there were no significant correlations. Results show that, considering performances in reading, arithmetic and general TDE, the groups differed in regards to extrinsic motivation and total motivation.
