Ce mémoire porte sur les jeunes issus de l’immigration haïtienne qui témoignent un certain attachement à l’église de leurs parents. Cette recherche vise à examiner ce sentiment d’appartenance en premier lieu, selon certaines approches scientifiques notamment des études sociologiques et psychologiques, puis selon la propre perception des jeunes. Dans une perspective de la pastorale des migrants, la recherche traite du rôle de l’église et des parents dans cet attachement. La réflexion théologique sur le sujet aborde le soutien moral et pastoral que l’apôtre Paul a dû apporter à Timothée qui, lui-même, faisait face à des critiques de la part des aînés de sa communauté ecclésiale à cause de son jeune âge. Une tentative de corrélation est établie entre l’expérience de Timothée et celle des jeunes de notre étude. Ce synchronisme, institué entre ces jeunes et Timothée aurait démontré une certaine récurrence à associer jeunesse et disqualification comme leader. Cette même réflexion analyse la génération d’Esdras, qui semble lutter pour une certaine conservation religieuse de la nation d’Israël, parallèlement à certains leaders et parents haïtiens. Ainsi, les jeunes s’attachent aux églises des parents pour des motifs socioculturels avant tout, mais aussi à cause de leur foi en Dieu. Toutefois, la mentalité de l’ancienne génération tend à fragiliser cet attachement. / This research studies youth from Haitian background who are somewhat attached to the church of their parents. It seeks to examine the extent of this attachment, firstly, according to pertinent scientific approaches, particularly sociological and psychological and secondly, through the youths’ own perception. From the perspective of pastoral care of migrants, the research also looks at the role of the congregation and the family in this attachment. Theological reflection examines the moral and pastoral support of the apostle Paul towards his young disciple Timothy, who was being criticized by elders in his church community. The situation of Timothy and of the youth in our study will be shown to be correlated. In both, youth is seen to imply immaturity. Likewise, the generation of biblical Ezra is analyzed; there the conservation of religious purity in the nation of Israel is compared to certain immigrant Haitian leaders and youth. This research shows that Haitian youth are attached to their parents’ congregation primarily for sociocultural reasons but also because of their personal faith in God. The mentality of the older generation is found to be crucial and can make this attachment more fragile.
