Bovine temperament is a trait generally defined by a set of behaviors of the animals in relation to man. This trait has demonstrated influence on productive potential of herds, due to its correlation with performance and quality of carcass traits, as well as a day by day relation with aspects of handling, welfare and security of animals and employees, besides significant reduction on investments or rationalization of these in other production system areas. Temperament has heritability ranging from moderate to low and it is affected by handling practices and environmental conditions, so, it is important to know such factors for selection issues. The relationship between performance traits, as weight gain after weaning (GPD) and biotype for visual scores, as conformation (C), precocity (P) and musculature (M), has been used by several breeding programs aiming better identification of animals showing good productive conformation through the association of performance with morphological traits. Data of score of temperament, GPD, C, P and M recorded on 33,967 Nelore animal pertaining to PAINT®, the Lagoa da Serra Ltda. breeding program were used. The data were analyzed using an animal model, by the Restricted Maximum Likelihood method to estimate genetic, phenotypic and environmental parameters for T, GPD, C, P and M. Uni and bi-trait analyses were carried out for T and GPD, C, P and M to estimate genetic correlation and heritabilites of these traits. The estimates of heritability were 0.18 l 0.02; 0.26 l 0.03; 0.28 l 0.03; 0.33 l 0.03 and 0.35 l 0.03 for T, GPG, C, P and M, respectively. The values of genetic correlation between temperament and the other traits were low, but favorable. The results demonstrated that the traits could respond to selection and, that selection for T could show indirect response on productive traits.

Grafické partitury jako cesta ke skutečnosti. Ukázka "komplexního realismu" v tvorbě československých umělců 60. a 70. let 20. století v kontextu mezinárodního hnutí experimentální tvorby. / Graphic Scores as a Way towards Reality. Example of "Complex Realism" in the Works of Czechoslovak Artists of the 1960s and 1970s within the Context of International Experimental Creation Movement.

Hlaváčková, Jitka January 2015 (has links)
The present work deals, from a general point of view, with the research of methods of depiction. In particular, it focuses on the phenomenon of graphical or visual scores in the former Czechoslovakia within the context of experimental creation movement of the early 1960s. It tries to discover the historical and also immediate social and artistic sources of their existence. It finds them in the need to express the primary (empiric) sensual experience, free from any formal assumptions stemming out of the traditional ways of depiction. The text points out mainly to the multidisciplinary qualities of the studied phenomenon defining "intermediality" as a "realistic tendency" and trying to substantiate both the origins and importance of intermediality within the artistic context of second half of 20th century by means of reflexion of older sources from the fields of history of art, music, philosophy (T. W. Adorno), sociology (M. McLuhan), semiotics (N. Goodman), as well as through original analysis of material. The work further investigates into the parallels within the evolution of visual art and music, mainly of the early avant-garde period (Dadaism, birth of conceptual art and complex work of the Bauhaus circle). It reflexes on the contemporary, and mostly foreign, context of the existence of the...

The aims of this study were to study the effect of age at calving (IVP), age of yearling (IS) and yearling weight (PS) on the scores of conformation (C), precocity (P), muscle (M) and temperament (T) of yearling Nellore, to estimate heritability (h ²) of these traits, using different statistical models and to estimate the covariance and correlation between T and the reproductive traits scrotal circumference (SC), age at first calf (IPP) and age at second calf (ISP). The database used belongs to the breeding program PAINT ® of CRV Lagoa LTDA. Regression analysis were performed after the absorption of the effect of contemporary group (CG). Estimates of h² were obtained by restricted maximum likelihood method under an animal model, considering the genetic effect of animal as random, with different fixed effects. IVP showed a quadratic effect on P and M, segmented quadratic-quadratic and linear on C on T, respectively. C showed similar patter as PS while P and M were similar to weight gain in this period. IS and PS showed a quadratic effect on C, P and M and cubic and linear effects, respectively, on T. The estimates of h ² ranged from 0.13 to 0.38 (C, P and M) according to the model used, whereas for PE, IPP and ISP, the estimates were equal to 0.52, 0.13 and 0, 03. Genetic correlations between T and PE, T and IPP and T and ISP were 0.16, -0.04 and -0.32. The estimated correlations between T and the reproductive traits were small. Selection applied on visual scores could bring moderate genetic gains to the carcass traits
