Funkční změny Vltavských břehů v Praze / Functional changes of Vltava riverbanks in Prague

Brabec, Jiří January 2017 (has links)
This diploma thesis deals with the functional changes of the banks of the Vltava river in the territory of today's Capital City of Prague. There have been significant changes in the functional use of this area due to large interventions in the bank line and the redevelopment of the embankment. During last 150 years changes are closely monitored. Changes were also made conditional on connecting nearby rural communities to Prague. Theoretical bases are the concepts of shore-side changes in urbanized areas, complemented by examples from the world that serve as a comparative study. Furthermore, the thesis is based on the theory of photography and the iconographic approach, which are essential for this work. The methodology of the thesis is based on the analysis of historical and contemporary photographs and information, on field research and vectorization of historical maps, where the course of the flow is monitored in four time periods (the mid-19th century until present). The work captures functional changes of banks in text form, as images and fundamental changes in tables. Part of the work is also a web application, where the changes in cartographic, picture and text form are again accessible to the public. Key words Vltava river, Prague, riverbank, waterfront

Diplomní projekt - Nábřeží Vltavy v historickém centru Prahy z pohledu krajinářského architekta

Kopřivová, Iveta January 2014 (has links)
The main goal of the diploma thesis was review of Prague riverfront situation, its adjustment possibilities and the priorities that should be respected in case of the adaptation of this area by the landsape architect. These general proposition have been verified on a specific project. Author has chosen a model area at the left bank of river Vltava, which is currently in many aspects dysfunctional or visually problematic, although it belongs to the legacy of national importance. The center of area is defined by the square Klárov which is inappropriately isolated from the Prague unique phenomenon, Vltava river. Its significance was described many times and requires interdisciplinar acces with respect for characteriistics of wider area. Chapter, which deals with analyzes a design has been processed into the well-arranged blocks of diagrams, drafts, cross sections and visualizations. Architectural design aspires to the contemporary expression of historical facts in the form of artistic elements and threds (see stylisation of the stream Brusnice or application of the terraced Italian gardens principles) as well as to the user orientated access in the particular areas and the district of the Lesser Town.

Analýza vhodnosti vybraných stanovišť v povodí horní Vltavy pro juvenilní stadia perlorodky říční / Analysis of selected localities suitability for freshwater pearl mussel young stages in upper stretch of Vltava River

Myslivečková, Lenka January 2016 (has links)
In the river basins of Teplá Vltava and Blanice in Šumava, samples of floating and deposited detritus were taken for the purpose of their physical and chemical analysis with the goal to identify suitable stations for the growth and development of juvenile specimen of freshwater pearl mussels. 6 locations in total were examined (5 in the river basin of Teplá Vltava, 1 in the river basin of Blanice) where bio-indicator tests were also conducted. In all these locations, samples were taken 3 times during the month of July and, in 1 location, once a month in the period from June to November. In the samples, the amount of Ca, P, K, Mg, Na, the proportion of organic component and the ratio C/N were determined. This analysis showed that short-term oscillations of the composition of detritus correlate, regarding their span, with seasonal changes. The dependence of such seasonal changes of detritus on the extent of the river flow rate was not proved. Differences in the amount of organic component, K, Mg, and the ratio C/N between floating and deposited detritus were found. In terms of qualitative composition, both types of detritus varied in the amounts of plant and inorganic particles. In comparison with available results from springs in the area of Blanice, the detritus from rivers differed significantly from the detritus originating in springs in the presence of faecal pellets, amorphous matter and plant particles. The growth of freshwater pearl mussels was dependent on the water temperature in the river, a dependence on the tested parameters of detritus was not proved, varying trends, however, were discovered (e.g. higher content of P, better growth). Water temperature showed to be dependent on the horizontal profile: water temperature rises with the direction of the water flow and the content of organic component in the detritus decreases with the direction of the water flow. Other trends in the horizontal profile were discovered as well but they were not proved statistically. Based on biological indicators, the locality of Ovesná (the lowest point down the river Teplá Vltava) was assessed to be the most suitable station.

Problematika kvality vod koupacích oblastí povodí Vltavy a jejich vliv na rekreaci / The issue of water quality of bathing areas in Vltava basin and their impact on recreation

BRŮŽKOVÁ, Radka January 2017 (has links)
The diploma thesis deals with the issue of water quality in bathing areas on the Vltava River. I concretely concentrated on the quality of water on dams Lipno, Orlík and Slapy. There were two aims. The first of them was observing of selected physical-chemical and microbiological indicators and algae in bathing waters of dams Lipno, Orlík, Slapy situated on the Vltava River between years 2006 and 2016. The second aim was observing of changes in water quality in the Vltava River and dams Lipno, Orlík, Slapy in the direction as river flows in the period of ten years. The thesis is divided into the theoretical and the practical part. The issue of water quality for bathing, indicators for its evaluation and the description of chosen dams on the Vltava River are written in the theoretical part. The practical part was realized by the method of the secondary analysis of data. The analysed data were gained from The National Health Institute with the permission of The Ministry of Health. The next data were given by The State Enterprise, Povodí Vltavy. The time period for the analysis was from years 2006 to 2016. Data gained were described in charts and graphs by the usage of computer programme Microsoft Excel. The part of this thesis was also the outdoor research. The gained results could be used as the source of information not only for general public but also for towns, villages or keepers of recreation facilities situated in this area. On the bases of discovered facts, data, documents, materials, outdoor research and their evaluation there will be given the complete view on the water quality in the dams intended for recreation with prediction about the future progress.

České Budějovice- město a voda / České Budějovice- town and water

NOVÁKOVÁ, Barbora January 2012 (has links)
The thesis deals with the characteristics of the town of České Budějovice focused on the hydrological situation, the coexistence of the town with water and the use of water surface areas. The thesis is divided into two main parts. The theoretical part summarises firstly, the information dealing with geographical physics secondly, socioeconomic information. It is followed by a detailed analysis of the main rivers, the Vltava and the Malše, which flow through the monitored territory. There is also a chapter aimed at the system of ponds in the defined location. From a historical point of view there are mentioned mainly interventions of nature itself in the life of the town in the chapter dealing with floods. The second application part includes the historical analysis of the evolution of the river bed and the water surface areas in the territory of České Budějovice, which was made up on the basis of comparing maps and information from the beginning of the 18th century up to the present. The anthropogenic activity and its influence on the town of České Budějovice itself is presented in the section solving the endangered water surface areas. This part also contains a case study dealing with the possibility of solving these hazards and risks in the countryside. The output of the thesis also includes the creation of promotional materials, which could be used as teaching supplementary materials at primary schools.

Forging a national identity : ideological undercurrents in Smetana's Vltava

Ericson, Kaitlin Lee 01 December 2010 (has links)
Smetana’s Vltava is widely described as a musical depiction of sights and scenes on a journey down the Vltava River that glorifies the river as a defining national landmark. While this understanding of the piece complies with its program and produces a formal and thematic analysis that reveals a general adherence to the conventions of the nineteenth-century symphonic poem, the interpretation only considers the work in isolation and does not account for its most exceptional features. My paper will analyze Vltava in its larger context as a part of the symphonic cycle of Má Vlast to uncover a deeper programmatic significance to the movement’s formal and thematic design, one inextricably bound up with Smetana’s Czech nationalism. The analysis will consider all of the movements of the cycle and their relationships to one another, with particular emphasis on the crucial relationship between Vltava and Z českých luhů a hájů. / text

Možnosti využití nových metod batymetrie vodních nádrží / Possibilities of use of new bathymetry method of water reservoirs

Kundratová, Františka January 2017 (has links)
It is essential to measure water depths of rivers, water reservoirs, ponds and lakes from various reasons like hydrologic modeling, monitoring of biotopes, monitoring of sediments or archeologic researches. Hence, the bathymetry techniques for measurements of shallow waters are still evolving. The goal is to find the best method allowing fast and economic mapping of large-scale areas and providing high-resolution data. Currently, the most common method in Czech Republic is probably depth measurement by an ADCP devices, which is a very accurate method, but still time-consuming. On the other hand, airborne laser scanning with wavelength of 532 nm (green laser pulse) has a great potential for shallow water mapping. This work is focused on the possibilities of use of the airborne laser scanning for bathymetry of rivers and water reservoirs in conditions typical for Czech Republic. The methods of obtaining the bathymetric data are discussed in theoretical part, as well as principles of its operation. In the practical part, two study areas (a part of Vltava river and a Hracholusky dam) were scanned using the laser scanner Riegl VQ-880- G. Digital terrain model (DEM) was created from acquired data of the two study areas. After that the DEMs were compared with DEMs which were created from sonar data. The results of comparison are presented. The aim of this work is to assess the ability of airborne laser bathymetry in conditions typical for Czech Republic and verify the accuracy of this method. This method saves time and economic costs and it has great potential to be usable for future research.

Věk a růst lipana podhorního (Thymallus thymallus L.) původem z různých lokalit - hodnocení na základě analýzy šupin / Age and growth of the European grayling Thymallus thymallus (L.) originally from different localities - assessment based on the scale analysis

CHYTRÝ, Martin January 2016 (has links)
The main aim of this thesis is to evaluate and to compare the age and length growth of European grayling in selected watercourse in the South Bohemia (Blanice vodňanská, Volyňka, Teplá Vltava a Otava) and in Austria (the Traun River and the Salzach River), focusing on the watersources of the Teplá Vltava River and the Traun River. Possible rules adjustment of sport fishing can give reasons eventually to be done on the basis of results in order to protect and to strenghten natural populatin of grayling. 53 individuals (fish) were studied in total which were in observed localities fished from 2011 to 2015 using power generator or fishing rods. The determination of age and growth were based on analysis of scales of the biggest individuals. The method of Rosa Lee (1920) was used for back-calculation of length growth. The oldest fish, 8 years old, was found among graylings in the Teplá Vltava River. The oldest fish from studied group of fish in Austrian Traun River where graylings trophy are occured belonged to the age group 5+. Graylings from the Traun River came up to faster growth distinctly which is related to more optimal living conditions (water temperature, the amount of food) in the pariticular watersource. Furthermore graylings from observed watersources in the South Bohemian region already grow up to minimum fishing length (30 cm) at the age of 3 4 years old. They can participate in natural reproduction only once or twice a life. Increase of miminal fishing length is absolutely eligible and it is the reason for increasing number of natural spawning and strenghtening of indigenous population of grayling.
