Frequency-based ocean synthesis is a class of methods for generating ocean waves in deep water using physically based ocean spectra provided by oceanographic research. The output of these methods is a heightfield which is periodic and can be used to tile a larger area. However, when using a larger number of tiles, a repetition pattern becomes apparent. Wang tiling is a method of tiling the plane non- periodically by using only a small set of input tiles with given constraints. The aim of this thesis is to create a set of Wang Tiles, each of which represents an ocean heightfield synthesised by a frequency- based method, so one can create large ocean scenes without apparent periodicity in the tiling pattern. The first chapter, introduction, explained the research motive of this article, research scope, research methods and the writer¡¦s biography. Second chapter explained the originality and relations of mind and nature, raising ether; heaven; principle and way. Third chapter discussed themes about sensibility; heart and mind uniting; body and feelings uniting and subjects of so forth. Fourth chapter regarded nature; discussing feelings and talents; originality of ill-intentions. Fifth chapter discussed about an individual¡¦s self-cultivation with the two items of morality ethics: propriety and education. Sixth chapter concluded. From beginning to the end of this literacy, manly it is using the means of analysis; comparison; deduction; induction; in addition, the author classifies some complex concepts together, using diagrams method as presentation, which is also part of his significant research.

Although modern Taiwanese literature is emphasized in recent years, there are few dissertations about classic Taiwanese literature. In this dissertation, the author tries to explore into the national consciousness presented in Wang Song¡¦s poetry. Wang Song is a classic poet in Taiwan when the Japanese were ruling Taiwan. Therefore, he has to present his national consciousness implicitly in his poetry. The author tries to explain his national consciousness through the three stages of Wang Song¡¦s life. This is because his poetry is deeply related with his life experience. The readers can observe Wang Song¡¦s paradoxical emotion in his poetry. This paradoxical emotion results from his national consciousness. Wang Song grew up in a traditional chinese family and he believes he is a Chinese. This is why he can¡¦t accept the Japanese government. Through the discussion of Wang Song¡¦s national consciousness, we can understand his motive of creation and the real meaning of his poetry. The second chapter introduces Wang Song¡¦s life and his work. The third chapter brings in the creative style of the classic Taiwanese society which Wang Song lived in. The forth chapter talks about Wang Song¡¦s creative style and his theory of creation. The fifth and sixth chapter are the analysis of the national consciousness in Wang Song¡¦s poetry. Although Wang Song¡¦s poetry are not as good as the other poets in the classic Chinese literature, his work shows the national consciousness when he survives in a colonialized society. Through the reading of his poetry, the author offers a way to understand the Taiwanese literary work during the Japanese colonializaiton.

The Kari-Culik tilings are formed from a set of 13 Wang tiles that tile the plane only aperiodically. They are the smallest known set of Wang tiles to do so and are not as well understood as other examples of aperiodic Wang tiles. We show that a certain subset of the Kari-Culik tilings, namely those whose rows can be interpreted as Sturmian sequences (rotation sequences), is minimal with respect to the Z^2 action of translation. We give a characterization of this space as a skew product as well as explicit bounds on the waiting time between occurrences of m × n configurations. / Graduate / 0405
