Les dislocations de l'espace pictural / The dislocations of pictorial space

Bourcier, Charline 04 December 2015 (has links)
Gerhard Richter painted Tisch in 1962. In this painting, a table, which is represented in perspective, has been erased with a violent gestural brushstroke. The pictorial space stands between the illusion of depth and the emphasized materiality of the canvas and the painting. The dislocations of the pictorial space, fostered by Richter’s personal practice and supplemented with the work of current young artists, heirs to his productive alterations, such as Adrian Ghenie, Duncan Wylie or Stephen Bush, these dislocations show the dynamic relationships which animate a figuration in tension with the picture and the painting. Stains, patterns, and streaks destabilize established iconic values while creating ambiguous worlds. The pictorial space oscillates between dexterity and letting go. The incompleteness and the reserves display the wavering of its constitutive layers.

Tension And Cooperation In Transatlantic Relations With Regard To Iraq

Onat, Erdal 01 June 2005 (has links) (PDF)
This thesis analyzes the wavering characteristic of the relations between the United States and the European powers by taking the Iraqi war of 2003 as a case in point. The tension in transatlantic relations that emerged with the US&rsquo / Iraqi invasion in March 2003 is analyzed within the framework of the structural analysis. The broader context of the causes of tension in transatlantic relations is further explored. The US&rsquo / Iraqi invasion has demonstrated us that she wants to reproduce her Middle Eastern policy by having a direct possession over the power structures. This fact led to the opposition of two main European powers, namely France and Germany. Those countries, which might be regarded as constituting the Franco-German axis, have been trying to involve into the US&rsquo / policy of reproducing the power structures. Whether the US is willing to give the Franco-German axis this role is also a key point, which is explored. Furthermore, in the thesis, attempts of the US and the Franco-German axis towards mending the fences in transatlantic relations that have been deteriorated with the Iraqi crisis are analyzed. The thesis seeks to show that the prospects for cooperation in transatlantic relations are an open-ended process due to the fact that there are both existing problems and opportunities for cooperation in transatlantic relations.

Feeling pulled in different directions: a humanbecoming inquiry

Tschanz, Coby L. 29 April 2019 (has links)
This dissertation presents a Parsesciencing study of the universal humanuniverse living experience of feeling pulled in different directions. Concept inventing reveals feeling pulled in different directions as pondering inspirations surfaces with desire amid tenuous integrity in a whirling inertia of possibility. Personal foreknowings illuminate feeling pulled in different directions as aw(e)ful delight surfaces with the struggles of taking a bearing along an unfolding, diverging way. Stories of ten historians, as presented and heuristically interpreted through several levels of abstraction, reveal feeling pulled in different directions as constrained vigor surfaces with wavering amid cherished potentials which is transmogrified as restricted endeavoring surfaces with capricious yearning. Core ideas of constrained vigor and wavering with cherished potentials are discussed in relation to extant literature. To inspire future inquiry, new knowings of this Parsesciencing are discussed in relation to nursing education, research, and care. / Graduate / 2022-12-31
