Grafdatabas: Från data till förståelse / Graph Database: From Data to WisdomThiel, Mattias, Brandt, Pontus January 2015 (has links)
This thesis written in swedsh is done for Imano AB and deals with the subject databases. Huge amounts of data are stored in databases worldwide, but only a fraction of all the data is used. Data can exist in many different forms and various types of databases have emerged as a complement to the traditional relational databases. In social networking, logistics systems, e-commerce and many other contexts, relationships between data items are often as interesting as the actual data content. When this is the case, graph databases provide solutions to problems that other databases cannot handle. In a graph database relationships between individual data records are stored as own objects. Thanks to this, it is easier to ask questions about how data relate to other data. To effectively exploit the graph database’s features there is a need for an accessible and useful tool. The purpose of the project is to create a tool that combines the graph database Neo4j’s ability to manage relationships between individual data items with visual presentation of data in a web application. The study examines whether this tool allows the user to more easily gain new insights from existing data. This study is basically a software development process which follows the principles of the method of Design Science Research. The method consists of a development process in several stages where empirical data is the knowledge obtained during work. The development process also includes qualitative research methods to collect data at the demonstration and evaluation of the artifact. The study shows, according to the developers that the graph database Neo4j has properties that make it suitable for use where relationships between individual data items are important as sources of knowledge. The result of the research is that new understanding can emerge from existing data using a graph database, especially when combined with visualization

Being at one with the tool : applying flow to usabilityAntonsson, Roger, Petterson, Lena January 2005 (has links)
Communication between people has become more and more important in society today and so has the way to communicate. Our work, which this master thesis is based upon, has been to evaluate and redesign an existing web application that works like a communication tool. To carry out this work we have compiled two questions; how to facilitate the interaction for an application that is used as a tool, focusing on interface design, usability and flow; how can the usability be improved in a system, with help of flow theory. To deal with these two questions we have used a number of methods that have had different kinds of influence of our work. The one that has had the greatest impact of the work with the evaluation has been cognitive walkthrough. For the design we have used literature studies along with the result of the evaluation. A problem during our work has been that the user has not been specified the design should work at a generic group of users. The problem has not been to define the target group rather to suit the interface to everybody. This has been the challenge of this semester and we found designing an interface infusing usability with help from flow as interesting.

Webbapplikation för administrering av dokument / Web Application for Document ManagementKasselia, Paul January 2015 (has links)
Därefter utvecklades webbapplikationen inom ramverket ASP.NET MVC. / This report describes the investigation and the development of a web application that will serve as a support application for Combitech when registering their systems in a database. When component needs to be replaced or upgraded, then you should be able to produce all documents that describe the component, and systems that consist of this component. Thus theycan estimate how much impact a replacement of an upgrade of a component will be in the early stages of their work. The web application was developedfollowing an extensive investigation of the tools that would be used during the project, and an investigation of the functions of the application. The web application was then developed in the ASP. NET MVC framework.

Modely řízení přístupu ke zdrojům operačního systému / Operating Systems' Resource Access Control ModelsVopička, Adam January 2010 (has links)
The thesis deals with models used in access control to operating systems' resources. The thesis' goals are the theoretical description of these models and their comparison, the description of their implementations in selected operating systems and the description of their utilization in securing typified servers. In the first chapter, the reader is introduced to basic terms and principles of computer security and access control. In the second, also theoretical part, selected access control models are described from different viewpoints, for example their factual specialization, basic rules, principles and evolution. At the end of the chapter, the models are compared to each other according to specified criteria. The third, more practically oriented chapter, continues from the initial, both general and concrete introduction with operating systems, to description of access control model implementations in selected operating systems. At the end of the chapter, these implementations too are compared according to specified criteria. The fourth, final part, is dedicated to the description of the actual securing of a web and file server using operating system level access control means. The end of the chapter is dedicated to the possibilities of using these means to secure web applications. The contribution of this thesis from the theoretical point of view is a well-arranged and compact access control model comparison, and also the merger of the theoretical base with practical use of the described model implementations. The thesis is recommended to people interested in the computer security issues in general and people interested in access control from both theoretical and practical sides, e.g. system administrators or system designers.

Návrh metodiky pro efektivní testování a vyhodnocování uživatelského prožitku menších webových aplikací / Designing Methodology for Effective Testing and Evaluating User Experience of Small Web ApplicationsNovák, Ondřej January 2011 (has links)
The main objective of this diploma thesis is to design an efficient methodology for testing and evaluating user experience of smaller web applications. The proposed methodology is based on understanding the issues of user experience testing of small projects, exploring the principles of current methodologies and analysis methods for testing and evaluating user experience. Based on the analysis, appropriate methods are selected and the methodology is assembled. Part of this thesis is verifying the methodology on a real project in practice in order to reveal its potential shortcomings. This thesis is composed of two parts. The first, theoretical part includes analysis of user experience issues and its testing, description of the methodology principles and the analysis of methods themselves. The second part includes the designed methodology and its verification in practice. Proposed methodology should be beneficial for small development teams or companies that have a need for testing the user experience, but do not have enough resources to develop their own methodology or purchase the methodology developed by another company. In practice, I was not able to find freely available methodology for testing the user experience, which would also be designed specifically for small projects.
