Självkänsla är den grund som människan bygger sin uppfattning om sig själv och hur hon ser sig själv genom andra. Teorier finns att högre självkänsla kan resultera i riskfyllt beteende och övermod. Andra teorier talar om att en högre självkänsla ger större tillfredställelse med livet och är en grund till lycka. Syftet med undersökningen är att se om och hur individen själv kan påverka och stärka sin egen självkänsla. Undersökningen utfördes genom kvalitativa intervjuer av sju stycken utbildade terapeuter, psykologer och psykoterapeuter. Resultatet visar att självkänslan går att påverka och reparera men att det är en krävande process i form av emotionellt arbete och självacceptans. Självkänsla visade sig definieras olika vilket har gett ett brett men åtskilt resultat.

This study evaluated the relative association of socioeconomic, minority group and housing characteristics of census tracts with the racial composition of residential areas within one southwestern city between 1950 and 1980. The unit of analysis was the census tract; the data were taken from the U.S. Census of Population and Housing 1950-1980 for the Fort Worth, Texas SMSAs. The Index of Dissimilarity compared racial segregation in the Fort Worth urbanized area for blacks with all others (1950-1980) and for Spanish and non-black minorities with all others (1960-1980). The data show little change in the extent of residential segregation over 30 years. The multiple regression showed that the degree of segregation in census tracts became increasingly predictable based on past minority concentration in the same neighborhood. Lagged social status and minority group variables significantly predicted the percent of the population that was black or Spanish in census tracts ten years later. Beta weights for percent black or percent Spanish were always the strongest in each tract regression and largely determined the level of segregation that existed in tracts ten years later. This paper asserts that social status characteristics must approach more equal levels between minority and majority groups before integrated neighborhoods can reasonably be expected. Yet many of these variables are still highly associated with black and Spanish areas. Rising income and improved housing in black census tracts give some basis for believing that in time these variables will narrow sufficiently to give more choice in residential housing. Although Spanish tracts are only about 65% as segregated as black census tracts and although the association of the variables with Spanish residential areas are never as strong as with black census tracts, still, with increased Spanish immigration in recent years and the downward trend found in social status factors within areas of Spanish concentration, Spanish residential areas may face increasing risks of greater segregation. It is recommended that emphasis on educational attainment and occupational training be continued, possibly augmented with civic programs designed to facilitate movement away from dynamic clustering.

It is the purpose of this thesis to acquaint the reader with the various systems, materials, and people who produce the art , in order to evaluate it and to pass on the results of its research to others who may find it useful in acquainting themselves with the advertising field.

The purpose of this study was to discuss and validate the benefits of surf camps. Additionally, the results of this study will aid the further research of adolescents achieving higher self-esteem levels, increased positive self-worth, and behavior change through non-traditional sports. The primary research question asked for this study is "How do non-traditional sports, such as surfing, affect self worth, self-esteem, and positive behavior change?" A survey was used to collect data among surf camp subjects. The participants, ranging from ages 8 to 18, consisted of two focus groups totaling 33 participants, with 17 subjects used for the final data collection. Participants were enrolled in the week long surf camp with Titus International Surf School in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Results suggested that obstacles, such as funding and legislation continue to challenge educational leaders, so the physical education systems that have been put into place must be reevaluated. Non-traditional sports can increase self-esteem, self-worth levels, and behavior change. This exploratory study begins with the development of alternative health and physical education programs, which will help the advancement of health regimens already in place. Some progress has been made in schools since the late 1990's, but advancement in new programs and research are slow and minimal. The results of this study also indicated the need for more positive role models in education, physical education classes, and sports. There is a need for increased parental involvement at home as well as the implementation of year-round health, exercise, and new non-traditional sport programs. / Ph. D.

The presence of musically deficient children in the music classes of elementary public schools is a well-known and a widespread situation. The problem of this study was to determine which of two methods of giving special attention to such pupils would be the more successful in assisting them to improve musically.

This study undertakes to measure by means of a questionnaire the spirit of democracy in the William James Junior High School of Fort Worth, Texas. The problem was the outgrowth of a personal interest in the boys and girls in the public schools of our nation and a feeling that strict application of the principles of democracy to school practices would result in happier school relationships.

The purpose of this study is to show what foods were made available to the children in the year 1943-1944; what foods the children chose from the available foods; what nutritive value the chosen foods possessed; and what the chosen lunches cost the children.

The purpose here is to evaluate an assigned vocational guidance project in the Diamond Hill Senior High School, Fort Worth, Texas, which was executed in certain English and speech classes.
