XML to facilitate management of multi-vendor networks

Halse, G A, Wells, George, Terzoli, A January 2001 (has links)
Many standards aimed at managing networks currently exist, and yet networks remain notoriously difficult to maintain. Template-based management systems go a long way towards solving this problem. By developing an XML based language to describe network elements, as well as the topology of a network, we can create tools that are free from vendor specific idiosyncrasies, and are capable of managing both today’s networks and those of the future.

FOCUSED AUTOMATED DISCOVERY OF TELEMETRY DEVICE CONSTRAINTS

Whittington, Austin J., Youngs, Alexander G., Harwell, John R., Moodie, Myron L. 11 1900 (has links)
Configuring typical devices in the telemetry community requires the creation of complex, device-specific configuration files. While the grammar of the configuration files is vendor neutral, the device specific details are vendor specific. Thus, a naïve approach to building these files is to construct a file, test it against a device, and then iterate. The specification sheets (and other documents) for the device can serve as a guide, but the details of flight test configuration possibilities are immense and, in this community, typically not fully documented. This paper describes a process of creating a set of general rules describing characteristics of a configuration file and using those rules to discover the configuration constraints of telemetry devices automatically. The discovered constraints posed by a particular vendor’s device can then be quickly formed into a correct-by-construction constraint-based grammar for use in other systems.

Extending the use of RuleML to store metadata and database semantics

Albhbah, Atia M., Mgheder, Mohamed A., Ridley, Mick J. 07 1900 (has links)
No / Shifting legacy data held in stand-alone systems to be used in Web application systems can be expensive and time consuming. RuleML can be used to represent RDBMS data by storing database metadata in an external format for some design tools. Just as XML Schema, which uses elements and attributes to express the semantics of XML data, but XML Schema does not have active elements in principle; RuleML is used as a representation for RDBMS metadata too. This paper proposes the use of RuleML format to implement more semantics for Web forms and demonstrate how this RuleML based approach can provide support for greater semantics using the example of advanced domain support even when this is not a feature supported by a specific RDBMS.

Podpora pro práci s XML u databázového serveru Microsoft SQL Server 2008 / Support for XML in Microsoft SQL Server 2008

Bábíčková, Radka Unknown Date (has links)
This thesis is focused on XML and related technologies. The XML language is directly linked to the databases and its support in databases. The overview of the XML support provided by various database products and systems are presented in this work. Support in the MS SQL Server 2008 is discussed in more detail starting with the mapping of relational data to XML and vice versa to support of the XML data type and work with it through XQuery. Also some indexing techniques are briefly presented. Finally, the support in MS SQL Server 2008 is demonstrated by means of a sample application, which verifes the theoretical knowledge in practice.

Perzistence XML v relační databázi / XML Persistence in Relational Databases

Boháč, Martin January 2010 (has links)
The aim of this thesis is to create a client xDB database, which supports visualization and management of XML documents and schemas. The first part deals with the introduction of XML, XML schemas (DTD, XML Schema, RelaxNG, etc.) and contextual technologies. After that the thesis deals with the problem of the XML persistence and it focuses on mapping techniques necessary for an efficient storage in a relational database. The main part is devoted to the design and implementation of client application XML Admin, which is programmed in Java. The application uses the XML:DB interface to communicate with the xDB database. It supports storing XML documents to a collection and the XPath language for querying them. The final section is devoted to application performance testing and comparison with existing native database eXist.
