"Vi kollar mest på TikTok och det kan inte alltid vara rätt" : En intervjustudie gällande elevers förståelse och lärarens mål med nyhetsbevakning i ämnet samhällskunskap

Gustafsson, Charlie January 2022 (has links)
This thesis has been intended to account for a teacher's and her students' perceptions regarding the element of news coverage (NC) in the subject of social studies. The respondents consisted of one teacher and 22 students and the survey was based on a semi-structured interview with the teacher and four group interviews with the mentioned student group. The interviews are based on questions that are directed at the main goals that the teacher believes the news coverage is characterized by and the students' perceptions of the goals with NC. The analysis for the study has been based on Sandahl's (2011) second-order knowledge, which has been reformulated into social science goals to facilitate categorization. Based on the students' and the teacher's statements, a categorization could indicate whether the students had a good perception of NC and whether the teacher expressed social science or more general goals for NC. The results showed that the students had a good knowledge of why NC was a significant element in the society lessons, but a predominant part of the students then expressed more general goals. The same applied to the teacher, who believed that it was possible to achieve a large number of goals with NC, but a majority of the teacher's answers were of a general nature and not subject-related social science objectives. This can show that the learning content for NC may be deficient if the goal is for more social science processes to be activated also during NC and not only when regular teaching is in progress.
