Private family garden + phenomenology + deconstructivism : alias landscape design cooking a la Czech

Kovář, Martin 11 1900 (has links)
Private family garden + phenomenology + deconstructivism; alias landscape design cooking a la Czech is a thesis project the main purpose of which was to answer authors questions concerning the practical use of the two design approaches applied to project for a real site through a development of designs driven by the principles of the respective styles/movements. Emphasis were paid to the influence the movements have on architectural and garden design. Second aim was to investigate the appropriateness and usefulness of designing through a model creation in a miniaturised simulation of the real situation in three dimensions. Following, and the last step, was to investigate the effectiveness of the model to communicate and truthfully represent/simulate the impact of the proposed design interventions. Throughout the work on the project, stages and consecutive steps taken were recorded to document the process. Development of the project was divided into several phases. First, suitable site was chosen and data related to the property gathered. Second, phenomenology and deconstructivism had been studied - mainly through looking at precedent design work and development of visual annotated analysis. Third step, happening simultaneously with second, was creation of a model simulating the current state and conditions on the site. Fourth, preliminary design proposals were developed. As a reflection on step four, design guidelines were developed (step five) to provide more steady ground/base for development of a coherent and better focused final design, which was the product of step six. In the seventh step, a rough model of the final design was developed and had been gradually refined into a stage of a final model with minor changes to the design elements occurring throughout the process. The changes were executed as they became desirable after the three dimensional simulation of the proposed design was developed and a higher level of understanding of the spatial relations was achieved. In conclusion, a high effectiveness of the model "to tell the story" was observed and emphasized even further by digital photo-documentation targeted to "draw the viewer into the model space." Lessons about time demands for the model creation were learned and better level of understanding the way deconstructivism and phenomenology reflect in design work was achieved. / Applied Science, Faculty of / Architecture and Landscape Architecture (SALA), School of / Graduate

Hur kan man förbättra interaktionen mellan personer med demens och deras anhöriga? : För att som anhörig få stöd att utveckla den befintliga relationen i takt med sjukdomens förlopp och skapa en bättre upplevelse av denna period.

Rönntoft, Hanna January 2018 (has links)
The purpose of this thesis is to try to improve the interaction between people suffering from dementia and their close relatives, to give more support to the close relative to develop the relationship as the disease  progresses and hopefully create a better experience of this often difficult time. The method i chose to work accordingly to is the “double diamond” method with discover, define, develop and deliver as the main parts. Through out all of these stages user testing and user feedback has been the main navigator in what decisions to take.  The result of this thesis ended up as a tray that you have on the table in between the close relative and the relative with dementia. You interact with the tray by lifting and touching the pieces that has different tactility, pictures and text on them to have something to start up a conversation or break a loop that people with dementia often falls into with repeating the same question over and over again. This tray will work as a conversation supporter since one of the biggest problems that occurred during the discover phase was that close relatives didn’t know what to talk about when they met their sick parents/grandparents. This led them to feel hesitant to pay a visit though feeling guilty that they should. The conclusion is that this product will for many close relatives make the interaction easier with their parents/grandparents and that leading to them have a better experience of their encounter.

PRODUKTUTVECKLING FRÅN SKISS TILL PROTOTYP : En fallstudie i en möbels utveckling från skiss Tll första prototyp i samarbete med Swedese / Product development from sketch to prototype : A case study in a furniture´s development from sketch to first prototype in collabora<on with Swedese

Erixon, Karl January 2021 (has links)

The curious Bagatelle of Care and Authority

Andersson, John January 2022 (has links)
How do care and authority relate to each other, and why is the relation between them important to understand for architects and designers? By experimental modelling and experimental thinking this project tries to understand how the caring for different matters in the design process affect the results and consequences of care. The text draws parallells to early aviation pioneers and how a shifted focus from sheer power to manoeuvrability served them their success.  Through the development of a curious wood treatment technique, and through it’s imagined applications to homes, mainly in large scale housing projects, this project searches eagerly for answers on matters related to care, authority, responsibility, a reasonable degree of rationality, standardisation, the role of the architect and the role of the designer.

The Unexplored Earth : Inspiring the future of mineral exploration

De Bastiani, Alexandre January 2020 (has links)
Very much like the great navigations in the 14th century or the space programs, exploring remote parts of our planet is a dangerous, challenging, and unknown endeavor that drives human beings. We not only do it to find resources but also for the sake of science, looking for shreds of evidence of a past that we only speculate. Our civilization has been driven by courageous and visionary explorers and now the challenges are different, and they need to be investigated. The Unexplored Earth is a design project that aims to provide a vision of the future of mineral exploration in such an unknown planet, the Earth. Hopefully, the result presented in this paper will serve its purpose of inspiring both the mining industry and geological survey organizations throughout the world in developing new technologies and methods of exploration increasing the rate of discoveries with reduced expenditure in comparison with current scenarios. Pilgrim is an underground drone capable of exploring where humans are not able to go, performing geological, geophysical, and geochemical surveys within the Underground.

DEVA : Treating Chroinic Leg Ulcers

Sahin, Birnur January 2020 (has links)
An ulcer is an open wound that remains unhealed even after weeks of treatment. These types of wounds require a long process of treatment due to other underlying health problems. Having an unhealing, painful and often infected wound decreases patients’ life quality significantly. The treatment includes using wound dressing applied by nurses, to protect the wound from infections, collect exudate and provide a closed and sterile environment. During a treatment, which could last for months, patients experience a lot of emotional and physical challenges. Deva is a design concept proposing the use of smart sensors in wound care treatment in a way that it will improve the communication between patients and nurses, by providing information and guidance. The ecosystem consists of a smart wound patch that will turn any wound dressing today into a “smart” one, an electrostimulation therapy sock and digital platforms where the information will be available. This way information on the wound status will be available for the patient, their family members or caregivers and the nurses. This project has been developed by interviewing nurses and wound care professionals from Turkey, Sweden and Denmark. The insights reflect the situation and the healthcare system in these countries and a wound care treatment journey might differ in other settings.
