Hoffman, Stefanus 30 July 2010 (has links)
ENGLISH: The new biotechnological context wherein in vitro fertilization, the human genome project and stem cell research have become realities, confronts society and also theology with unique challenges. These realities compel us to revisit ethical questions considering human life. The main aim of this study is to make a contribution in the transversal debate among Christian ethics, natural sciences and biotechnological development, from a post-foundationalistic perspective. The research results do not aim to set ethical rules as absolute truths, but rather to reflect on different viewpoints, values, characteristics, virtues, moral narratives and perspectives on these complex ethical dilemmas. The hermeneutical process of critical-realistic reflection is being presented systematically. Starting from the factual aspects in relation to bio-technological development we move towards constructing an idea of the complexity of the ethical dilemma this development brings to social, religious and political spheres as well as the ethical debate. Perspectives on different reflection possibilities are then given form a Christian-ethical viewpoint with evaluation of different viewpoints on this complex ethical question. I then focus on an eco-theological perspective and the values it presents. Lastly, a critical reflection on the implementing of these values is presented, from an eco-theological viewpoint, revaluing theological-anthropological perspectives and providing basic guidelines for ethical decision-making from an eco-theological perspective. The broadening of moral narratives and revaluing of relational Christian-anthropological perspectives are being presented as an alternative against the strict monolithically orientated ideas of truth, objectivity and reason. / Thesis (DD)--University of Pretoria, 2010. / Dogmatics and Christian Ethics / unrestricted

Sociální těla v queer podniku / Social bodies within queer enterprise

Sagačová, Markéta January 2017 (has links)
The thesis strives for the anthropological interpretation of the body within queer enterprise. It tries to capture, interpret and understand the processes that form human bodies in this enterprise, in this thesis called Osvěžovna. Osvěžovna can be considered a certain social field within the queer habit is manifested; and as it truned out some sort of "friendly" habit too. With regard to the research landscape and research questions, the main research method is qualitative - participant observation. The main theoretical concept is the division of the cultural dimension of the human body into three structural levels according to Soukup and Balcer. This structure affects the division of thesis itself, which gradually deals with the techniques of the use of the human body and the ways in which the human body in Osvěžovna is modified; the way the human body is disciplined there; and what cultural significance can be found in Osvěžovna. This division is supplemented by the level of consumption. In conclusion are these findings summarized and there is also confirmation that these structural levels of the human body are very often intertwined. That points the integrity of the body culture system in Osvěžovna. Key words body; queer; anthropology; discipline; habitus

Východ proti Západu? Reprezentace války v egodokumentech britských a ruských účastníků Krymské války 1853-1856. / East against the West? Representations of war in ego documents of British and Russian participants of Crimean War 1853-1856.

East against the West? Representations of war in egodocuments of British and Russian participants of Crimean War 1853-1856. Doctoral thesis Mgr. et Mgr. Petr Wohlmuth ABSTRACT This doctoral thesis adheres to genre of historical anthropology of war and military. It draws on two theoretical sources. The first consists of paradigms of cultural and social anthropol- ogy, more specifically symbolic historical anthropology in the tradition of Geertz, Darnton, Sahlins and others. The second represents the cultural history of war in the tradition of Kee- gan, Hanson, Lynn or Isabel Hull. The research question is focused on the culture of war during the Crimean War, especially during the Crimean campaign and siege and defense of Sevastopol in 1854/55, as its variables were represented in egodocuments of its Russian and British participants. Crimean War has been the subject of many historiographic texts, but most of them were essentially conservative, relying on national, ideological and civilizational labeling instead of deeper analysis. This doctoral thesis analyses in detail first the formal or- der of the above-mentioned culture of war, but more importantly, it analyses using the method of thick description its logico-meaningful relations, the hierarchy of levels of mean- ing in the sense how the culture of war...

Srovnání vybraných antropologických škol z hlediska jejich pragmatické hodnoty / A comparison of selected anthropological theories in view of their pragmatic value

Hájek, Daniel January 2016 (has links)
The study deals with the problem of applicability of two anthropological theories, structural functionalism and interpretive anthropology of Clifford Geertz. By applicability is meant what concrete difference using of one or the other theory brings about in ethnography. Each of the theories is at first thoroughly examined with emphasis on its possible aims, assumptions, and consequences for an ethnographer. Then each theory is put to test in examination of one particular ethnography associated with the theory. Evans-Pritchard's The Nuer serves as an instance of structural functionalism. Clifford Geertz's Negara as an example of interpretative analysis. Structural functionalism is shown to provide an ethnographer with a much more definite guidance which contributes to better possibilities of verification and comparability of the results than interpretive anthropology. Apart from the main subject, the study is concerned with more general questions, especially related to non-existence of a paradigm in anthropology and some of its causes.

Myslet z psychedelické zkušenosti - transdisciplinární interpretace / To thin from psychedelic experiences - a transdisciplinary interpretation

Pokorný, Vít January 2016 (has links)
Pokorný, V., To think from psychedelic experiences. Transdisciplinary interpretation. Diseration Thesis, Departement of General Anthropology, Faculty of Humanities, Charles University Prague, 2016 Abstract: The goal of this text is to think from and according to psychedelic experiences. To think from psychededic experiences means to introduce a transdisciplinary model of psychedelic domain. This model is based on autoethnographic, cognitive, phenomenological and psychopharmacological types of analysis. These analyses allow to demonstrate: 1) place of psychedelics in contemporary globalised czech society; 2) possible heuristic (theoretical and experiemental) value of psychedelic experience for understanding human situation. This text interprets psychedelic experience as a process of deteritorialization and reteritorialization that occurs on different, intertwinned levels of our experience, and, thus, it is a contribution to explication of a philosophical concept of intertwinning. Keywords: psychedelic experience, transdisciplinarity, autoethnography, cognitive anthropology, anthropology of experience, enactivism, phenomenology, embodiment, analogy, intertwinning

"Hmyzí královna v říši neobvyklých pochoutek": Zážitkový turismus, jídelní festivaly a soukromé ochutnávky v perspektivě sociokulturní antropologie / "Insect Queen in unusual delicacies realm": Culinary tourism, food festivals and private tasting events in the context of sociocultural anthropology

Matušínská, Radka January 2018 (has links)
The goal of this thesis is to discuss how unusual delicacies are conceptualized in the perspective of sociocultural anthropology - specifically, in the context of anthropology of food. Unusual delicacies are to be understood as non-traditional, unique, but at the same time, shocking or perceived as "bizarre" meals. The complex description of the individual's experience during the consumption of unusual delicacies will help to analyze what is the overall perception of the experience, its pervasion into self-presentation, as well as what are the main motivations for it. Further, it is discussed what role the unusual delicacies play in the context of exploring foreign countries and whether they possess any cultural and symbolic meaning.
