LA PRIMA DELEGAZIONE APOSTOLICA IN MESSICO. SVILUPPI E PROBLEMATICHE DEL RAPPORTO TRA STATO E CHIESA (1851-1861)

BURELLI, MADDALENA 08 April 2019 (has links)
The present research aims to reconstruct and explain the reasons that led to the first papal representation in Mexico, the difficulties encountered, the contributions of the apostolic delegation and its outcome, but not only. The study carried out on the Clementi delegation also represents the occasion, through the Mexican case, to reflect and contribute to clearly explain the relations between State and Church and to identify the reasons why the balance between the throne and the altar lessened, thus paving the way for the advent of the secularized societies in which we live today. The apostolic delegation represents the meeting point, the pivot that allows observing and shedding light on the dynamics, positions and points of view of those who were the three main actors: the Holy See, the Mexican government and the Mexican clergy. Through the study conducted on Clementi's mission it is possible to better understand how these three subjects relate to each other and what were the problems of their interactions. Following the development and above all the problems encountered by the apostolic delegation, we will focus on the objectives of the Holy See, on the needs and interests that moved the policy of the Mexican governments and on how, with respect to the will of the first and second, the Mexican clergy.

Welheidsbediening deur AGS-pastore in 'n stedelike konteks : 'n Prakties-teologiese studie / Louise Lovell

Lovell, Louise January 2009 (has links)
A total change of culture is happening in the world and the church should take cognizance of it because people's religious experience is not detached from their cultural context. In the light of the changing contemporary culture and new challenges for the ministry, the research question was posed: why is a wellness ministry by AFM pastors in an urban context necessary and what should it entail in the guiding of people towards wellness? The objective of the study is therefore to research a wellness ministry by AFM pastors in an urban context with the aim of proposing a model for such a ministry where people may be guided towards wellness. The study was done by using the practical-theological model of Zerfass as point of departure which comprises the following: - a meta theory where material from other disciplines are studied; - a basis theory where Scriptural perspectives on the topic had been researched; - empirical research by way of interviews with pastors; and - a practice theory where guidelines are proposed for a wellness ministry by AFM pastors in an urban context. In the meta theoretical part of the study it became clear that the circumstances with which people are confronted in the contemporary culture, a change of focus necessitates from a lifestyle of only combating disease to one of promoting wellness. Research has shown that quite a number of wellness models already exist which are being applied in practice. The basis theoretical part of the investigation showed that Scripture provides numerous guidelines with regard to a wellness ministry for the whole person in connection with the body, soul and spirit. The results which surfaced from the empirical study, confirmed the meta- and basis theoretical research. Consequently the practice theory has been formulated from the hermeneutical interaction of the different components of the research in the format of a proposed model. With reference to the research question, central theorical argument and the research reflected in chapters 2 through 5, the final conclusion states that a wellness ministry by AFM pastors in an urban context is necessary and should play an important part in the guiding of people towards wellness. A model where the strategy for such a ministry has been explained, is finally proposed. / Thesis (Ph.D. (Pastoral)--North-West University, Potchefstroom Campus, 2009.

Non monachus, sed demoniacus : recherches sur la criminalité au sein des communautés régulières en Occident (France et Angleterre principalement), XIIe-XVe siècle / « Non monachus sed demoniacus » : Crime in Medieval Religious Communities in Western Europe (mainly France and England) from the Twelfth to Fifteenth Century

Lusset, Elisabeth 19 October 2011 (has links)
This thesis weaves together two distinct historiographical strands: research on crime and criminal justice and that on religious orders and communities. It offers an analysis of criminality in the cloister, by examining crimes committed by religious against other religious (forms of violence, homicide, theft…), from the 12th to the 15th century. A comparative framework allowed for a comprehensive study of male and female religious, belonging to orders such as Cluniacs, Cistercians, Premonstratensians and Carthusians or to a less juridically defined communities, i.e. the monks, who followed the rule of St Benedict, or the Regular Canons, who lived according to the rule of St Augustine. The scope is European with a special interest in French and British kingdoms. A study of criminal practices, the profiles of offenders and victims, the circumstances and motivations of the crime reveals the permeability of the monastery to worldy attitudes. Indeed, monastic ideals, which exalt humility, self-control and forgiveness, at times came into conflict with the individual’s desire to defend his/her honour by seeking revenge. Finally, the present study focuses on the way monastic justice operated – which is, simultaneously, disciplinary and administrative, penitential and penal. By the 12th century, monastic delinquents had ceased to be disciplined only by the abbot and were examined and chastised by new monastic authorities of the religious orders (general chapter, definitorium) or by the bishop or the pope. From the 12th to the end of the 15th century, the religious orders and communities developed a judicial and penal system. Nevertheless, if the correctio was aimed at preserving the Church’s integrity by avoiding scandal, it also sought to amend the culprit, whose absolution and reconciliation to community remained the ultimate goal.

An investigation of different phases of pentecostal experience in the Apostolic Faith Mission (AFM)

Hwata, Benny 30 November 2005 (has links)
This dissertation is an analysis of differing Pentecostal experiences in Apostolic Faith Mission from its inception, with specific reference to the AFM of South Africa and AFM in Zimbabwe. The study examines: The brief history of the AFM. This begins with the Azusa Street Revival in Los Angels. Pentecostalism then spread to South Africa through John G. Lake with the founding of AFM of South Africa. AFM filtered into Zimbabwe where it faced stiff resistance from government authorities and established mainline churches. Theologies and spiritual gifts which make Pentecostalism different from other faiths. Main doctrines and tenets of faith discernible from the brief historical outline. A general outline of phases in Pentecostalism. An attempt will be made to determine whether these phases are applicable to AFM. This dissertation is a contribution towards reconciling diverging views concerning Pentecostalism in the AFM because various congregations of the same denomination behave and believe differently. / Philosophy, Practical and Systematic Theology / M.Th. Theological education in the Apostolic Faith Mission of South Africa

Erasmus, Lodewikus Johannes 11 1900 (has links)
Text in English / The objective of this thesis is to give a description of the theory and practice of theological education in the Apostolic Faith Mission of South Africa (AFM) from 1908 to 1996 in order to understand the current theory and practice and also to give guidelines for future implementation thereof. This is a literature study using a practical theological method of research. Three of the aspects that governed theological education in the AFM are racial relationships, the tension between spirituality and academic achievement and financial viability. These three aspects were the leitmotiv throughout the study. This study indicates that: * the AFM started as an interracial mission * within two years after its founding the AFM became a segregated church * racially divided theological education was practised throughout all the periods of development * initially, believers entered the pastoral ministry by means of the calling, anointing of the Holy Spirit and proven practical self-involvement in the ministry * the Church now believes that theological education must be added to the experience of the indwelling of the Spirit * there has been a gradual move from a focus on spirituality towards that of higher academic achievements * theological education should be offered at different academic levels and different tracks of ministry * financial support came mainly from the central funds of the Church via statutory funds from local churches * other contributors towards the cost of theological education are the students, donations from the public, churches, organisations, businesses and the state *the transformation of theological education from a predominantly White westernised enterprise to an African endeavour would require that the statutory contribution of the Church towards theological education be doubled. This thesis is a contribution towards the renewal of theological education in the AFM. A new practical theological theory is proposed that will make provision for a racially integrated theological education system. / Philosophy, Practical and Systematic Theology / D. Th.
