This understanding had the purpose to bring elements for a discussion about the psychological point of view of taking care of these people, from the psychologist point of view as well as of other hospital professionals who deal with them. It was opted to use a qualitative research from phenomenological type for the comprehension of the hospitalization experiences. Four adults had been participated the research, being three women and a man. They were interned in the infirmary of a hospital on the countryside of the State of S?o Paulo. The interviews had been carried through from active not-directive modality and written under narrative form. The phenomenological analysis of the narratives constitutes in the following steps: reading of each narrative searching the meaning of the hospitalization experiences; construction of a experience synthesis of hospitalization for each participant; elaboration of a comprehensive synthesis of the experience from all the narratives. One concluded that: 1) Hospitalization must be understood like a process, therefore the different participants had left the hospital unlike them arrived. 2) The occurred changes were connected to the state of humor, the feelings and the relationships of the hospitalized people. 3) The psychological condition of the participants intervened with their physical condition and was relevant for the quality of the internment experience. 4) The objective facts, as the long or brief time of internment, didn t had shown so important for the subjective quality of the internment like the meaning of their experience. 5) Some relationships established for the participants, during the internment, contained reciprocity and others do not had this element. 6) The cares, related to the hospital rules and routines had been received from different way for each participant, that is, for some this favored well-being throughout the internment and for others, it did not happen. From then on, it was possible to think about a care that watch over to the hospitalization process and the subjective quality of the internment, based on the ideas of Carl Rogers and Martin Buber, especially on the referring attitudes to this care.
