Ordning och reda : Utrustningshantering i skola

Waldfelt, Fredrik January 2019 (has links)
The main purpose of this project is to create a system where Älvdalens Utbildningscentrum can manage the equipment that is made available for their staff and students. This equipment can be computers, clothes, cycles or other things that is needed in the education or at work. Since there is no central management today there is a chance for financial loss when students or staff leaves. The technical solution in this project uses ASP.NET MVC Core and Microsoft Azure, where authentication is based on an existing Azure Active Directory. Since the system that has been developed during this project not yeat have full functionality, this report should be seen as a suggestion how to solve the problem. Further development of the suggested system will continue outside of this project.

Towards an MPI-like Framework for Azure Cloud Platform

Karamati, Sara 12 August 2014 (has links)
Message passing interface (MPI) has been widely used for implementing parallel and distributed applications. The emergence of cloud computing offers a scalable, fault-tolerant, on-demand al-ternative to traditional on-premise clusters. In this thesis, we investigate the possibility of adopt-ing the cloud platform as an alternative to conventional MPI-based solutions. We show that cloud platform can exhibit competitive performance and benefit the users of this platform with its fault-tolerant architecture and on-demand access for a robust solution. Extensive research is done to identify the difficulties of designing and implementing an MPI-like framework for Azure cloud platform. We present the details of the key components required for implementing such a framework along with our experimental results for benchmarking multiple basic operations of MPI standard implemented in the cloud and its practical application in solving well-known large-scale algorithmic problems.

Förändringar i informationshanteringen med användandet av molntjänster : Förändringsanalys hos ett företag inom retailbranschen / Changes in information management with the use of cloud services

Ruist, Sofia, Nehl, Andreas January 2016 (has links)
This study, which was conducted in collaboration with the consulting firm Pipe, studied information management processes of small businesses in the retail industry. The company dedicated to design store using CAD software today has no connection between the CAD program and the clouddatabase that stores information. The aim is to explore how the proposed measures might take for the company to improve their information management through the use out of a clouddatabase. We have also described the problem area of the connections between the cloudatabases and design applications. To answer the study's end, we conducted a case study and answer research questions, 1. How does the information management process work today? 2. How can the information management process be improved? 2. What work steps could be taken away if the company faced a link between the clouddatabase and design software? 3. Is a cloud-based solution suitable to use for small businesses in the retail industry? 4. What is the situation in other industries that use CAD software? We found by conducting interviews. The interviews helped us to implement a change analysis in which we act through graphs and goal- and problem lists have come up with a number of proposed measures that the company should implement to improve their information management process. Based on the analysis of change, we have to conclude that the information process could be improved and speeded up by introducing a link between design software and a clouddatabase. This would mean that the material is automatically uploaded from your design software to the clouddatabase, which is also the customer has access to. In this way, gather all the information in one place. Through literature studies, we have also come to the conclusion that a cloud-based solution would be appropriate for the company, since it is a cheap and convenient solution for companies that do not have as many resources.

Microsoft  Azure i IoT-utveckling / Microsoft Azure in IoT development

Persson, Henrik January 2017 (has links)
AF’s office in Karlstad currently offer consultation regarding Internet of Things but are looking to expand into development of services. They have requested that an end-to-end solution is developed in order to demonstrate the technology to potential clients. This thesis describes the work performed to realize an end-to-end solution for connecting sensors and actuators to the cloud. It also describes the problems experienced while working with Microsofts platform for cloud services, Azure.

Quantitative comparison of SensibleThings and Microsoft Azure IoT Hub

Jiang, Yiliang January 2016 (has links)
With the development of the Internet-of-Things, more and more IoT platforms come up with different structures and characteristics. Making balance of their advantages and disadvantages, we should choose the suitable platform in differ- ent scenarios. For this project, I make comparison of a cloud-based centralized platform, Microsoft Azure IoT hub and a fully distributed platform, Sensi- bleThings. Quantitative comparison is made for performance by 2 scenarios, messages sending speed adds up, devices lie in different location. General com- parison is made for security, utilization and the storage. Finally I draw the con- clusion that SensibleThings performs more stable when a lot of messages push- es to the platform. Microsoft Azure has better geographic expansion. For gener- al comparison, Microsoft Azure IoT hub has better security. The requirement of local device for Microsoft Azure IoT hub is lower than SensibleThings. The SensibleThings are open source and free while Microsoft Azure follow the con- cept “pay as you go” with many throttling limitations for different editions. Microsoft is more user-friendly.

Migrering av en applikation till datormolnet Windows Azure / Migration of the an application to the cloud Windows Azure

Svensson, Linus, Nguyen, Anders January 2010 (has links)

Limitations of Azure in GIS Scalability : A performance and migration study

Bäckström, Jonas January 2012 (has links)
In this study, the cloud platform Windows Azure has been targeted for test implementations of Geographical Information System (GIS) software in the form of map servers and tile caches. The map servers included were GeoServer, MapNik, MapServer and SharpMap, which together with the tile caches, GeoWebCache, MapCache and TileCache, were installed on Windows Azures three different virtual machine roles (Web, Worker and VM). Furthermore, different techniques for scalingapplications and internal role communication are presented, followed by four sets of performance tests. The performance tests attempt to highlight the differences in request times, how the different role sizes handle the load from the incoming requests, how the different role sizes handle many concurrent TCP-connections and how well the incoming requests are load balanced in between the worker roles. The test implementations showed that all map servers and tile caches were successfully installed in Azure, which leads to the conclusion that Windows Azure is suitable for hosting GIS software with similar installation requirements to the previously mentioned software. Four different approaches (Direct mapping, Public Internal Endpoints, Queue and Worker Role Request Broker) are presented showing how Azure allows different methods in order to scale the internal role communication as well as the external client requests. The performance tests provided somewhat inconclusive test results due to hardware limitations in the test setup. This made it difficult to draw concluding parallels between the final results and the expected values. Minor tendencies in performance gain can be seen when scaling the VM size as well as the number of VMs.

Administratörsverktyg för IOT-enheter / Administrator Tool for IOT-Devices

Wahlman, Johan January 2015 (has links)
IoT (Internet of Things) are devices which are usually equipped with different kinds of sensors, these sensor values are then sent to a server where these values are somehow processed. It’s predicted that the usage of IoT devices will increase significantly during the upcoming years.   Microsoft has a service named Azure IoT Hub, which is designed for easy administration of IoT devices, but Azure IoT Hub provides no user interface to administer these IoT devices. The task of this project is to create a user interface for Azure IoT Hub.

Implementation of a Log Agent in Microsoft Azure : and packaging it to Azure Marketplace / Implementering av en Log Agent i Microsoft Azure : och paketering till Azure Marketplace

Bui, Michael, Pedersen, Magnus January 2015 (has links)
Cloud computing is still in an early stage of development and Microsoft is now investing considerable amount of resources in the cloud. Microsoft Azure is a cloud platform developed by Microsoft and it is continuously evolving, new features are constantly being added and old features are being updated. Integration Software, which is a company that focuses on products for system integration strongly believes that cloud-based solutions will have a significant impact on their future. This is why selling and developing solutions and services for the cloud are strategically important for them. The objective of this dissertation is to investigate Microsoft Azure in general and Azure Marketplace in particular. This investigation consisted of an implementation of a Microsoft Azure application and integrating this application with Azure Marketplace and evaluating the expenses for running the application. The purpose for this project is to gain practical experience and to work with new techniques and help Integration Software better understand Azure Marketplace. The application is a Log Agent which fetches data from an external source and resends the data to an external party (Integration Manager). Our first intention was to package and deploy the application to a newly updated Azure Marketplace. The new Azure Marketplace was never released during this dissertation so we decided to deploy the application to the existing version of Azure Marketplace. This was however not fully successful. We encountered some problems in successfully deploying the application to Azure Marketplace. The evaluations for the cost of running an Azure application were not carried out due to lack of time.
