My thesis explores the potential manipulation of Roman brick using a Flemish bond, corner quoining, and barrel vaulting. The design uses this brick module to re-interpret the Ancient Roman domus, an urban residence embedded within the heart of the city. This classical inspiration is apparent in the tripartite plan and elevation as well as the use of the Golden Ratio, a classical proportioning system, incorporated throughout the design, revealed on both large and small scales. However, the emphasis of the project is on true brick construction, a process irrelevant to historical allusion. / Master of Architecture

The diploma thesis is focused on the design of structural support and construction modifications of a baroque wine cellar, which is part of a double-storeyed house. The first part deals with the statical analysis and structural support of a masonry barrel vault, which was loaded with a new building. The second part deals with the reconstruction of the double-storeyed object, which is in a state of disrepair with heavily developed cracks. The thesis contains a technical report, analysis of statics, drawing documentation and the work progress. The calculation of internal forces were executed by the software Scia Engineer 2017. The drawing documentation contains a formwork and reinforcement drawing, maping of cracks, leading of tensions in the walls and vault including of floor plans, sections and elevations, production plans of base plates and deviators, reinforcement drawing of concrete bond beam and finally the construction process of upper construction.

Throughout time man has discovered that the human form, in all its harmonious proportion, can be used as a guide, gauge and tool to design and build structures. However, the human figure has not been the only organic form used to create architecture. Many animals create dwellings that synchronize with not only their own unique physical characteristics and survival instincts, but with their aesthetic preferences as well. It is logical that a design should respond to its surroundings, program and most importantly, its inhabitants.
This thesis design is for two specific occupants: the cat and the human. They are both meant to inhabit the building wholly and simultaneously. The way each of them experiences and uses the space, however, differs greatly.
For a building to survive it needs many of the same things as living creatures: sunlight, air and movement, to name a few. It also needs to function like a living creature. It must breathe, sleep, respond to the changing seasons, and adapt over time. This thesis is an investigation of how both human and cat can dwell in a building of harmonious proportion, scale, light, and material. / Master of Architecture

Mit der Fuzzy-Stochastischen Finite-Elemente-Methode (FSFEM) kann die nachgewiesene stochastische und nichtstochastische Datenunschärfe des stahlbewehrten Altbetons und des Textilbeton bei der Strukturanalyse berücksichtigt werden. Die für die deterministische Analyse textilverstärkter Tragwerke auf der Basis des Multi-Referenzebenen-Modells (MRM) entwickelten finiten MRM-Elemente wurden zu FSMRM-Elementen weiterentwickelt. Das Stoffmodell des mit AR-Glas bewehrten Feinbetons wurde für textile Gelege aus Carbon erweitert. Die entwickelten Modelle und Algorithmen werden zur fuzzystochastischen Tragwerksanalyse textilverstärkter Tragwerke eingesetzt.
