This thesis is an inquiry of the way media portray turmoil in Swedish public libraries between the year 2015 and 2018. This study's purpose is to gain knowledge about the media image of turmoil in libraries and the narrative techniques that are used. The questions we use to gain this knowledge is: 1.What problems as regarded to turmoil in the library is brought up by the media? 2.What narrative techniques are used by the media in articles related to turmoil in libraries? 3.What potential impact can these articles have on libraries? We will use Jesper Strömbäcks (2009) theory on media logic to help us identify what tools the media is using to make their text more compelling to read. The reason for this is to attract more reader and make them stick to the text and not stop reading because they find it boring.This tool can also give the text an angle to favour one part in a debate, or point to a certain group of people as the "guilty" part in the turmoil.The method we used is a qualitative text analysis, and we used 40 articles in this study.It was concluded that all articles uses at least some of the narrative techniques outlined byStrömbäck, and it might have had a negative impact on the visit statistics.
