Zpracování fermentačních zbytků z bioplynových stanic / Fermentation remainder treatment in a biogas plant

This diploma thesis deals with dewatering technologies of fermentation residues from biogas plants and aims to design an integration of selected technology into the biogas plant. Fermentation residues (or digestate), which are a by-product of anaerobic biomass fermentation in biogas plants, contain a certain amount of nutrients and are usually used as agricultural fertilizers. However, the high-water content in digestate and the associated low nutrient concentration increase the cost of its storage and transport. Dewatering of fermented material could help reduce these costs. The main part of this work included the design of an integration of the selected dewatering technology into the biogas plant – its placement in a process, an addition of necessary appliances, the influence on material and energy flows. In this case, the fermentation residues are processed in two phases. First, a separation of the solid and the liquid fraction by a screw press. The second step is to thicken the liquid digestate by evaporation in a multistage evaporator. Evaluation of the design of a dewatering technology, including its impact on the economy of the biogas plant, is also part of the diploma thesis.

The theoretical part addresses the proper air distribution in the catering operation. The experimental part involves the measurement of carbon dioxide, air velocity, relative humidity and air temperature and the temperature of the thermometer ball. Depending on the observed values a technical solution was created in variations and applied in the calculation program.

This master thesis deals with the feasibility studies desulphurization of powder granulation K3 boiler at Olomouc heating station. K3 boiler burns black energetic coal and after January 1st, 2016 will not meet new more strict emission limits. The theoretical part of the thesis charts usable desulphurization methods from which the semi-dry NID appears as the most appropriate one. In the practical part there is performed a stoichiometric calculation of the flue gas and the balance of raw materials and output products. The possibility of NID method usage is confirmed here. Next the annual operating cost of the desulfurization process is calculated and some NID systems already installed references are presented.

The aim of the thesis is to identify and design savings resulting from the use of energy contained in flue gas, which is produced during the process. In the first part, history and applications of calcium carbide are presented. The thesis then contains mass and energy balance of calcium carbide production. Balance is related to 1 ton of the product. In conclusion, possibilities of flue gas use for coke drying are proposed. The thesis is based on the information from the calcium carbide factory located in Sundsvall, Sweden.

Využitelnost výpalků z výroby ethanolu / Usability of stillage from ethanol production

This work solves the use of stillage from ethanol production. Also solves processing into material DDGS and then solves the material and energy balance. This material and energy balance was calculated for 7070 kg of stillage per hour. The final energy requirements of the process were based on the amount of stillage produced to obtain 1 m3 of ethanol. The results of this work offer an insight to the problems of processing stillage. Thanks to conversion for 1 m3 of produced ethanol, results is also offerring the possibility of fast conversion of an approximate energy needed for devices of other capacities.

The work deals with the verification of functionality of moisture content sensors MCT460-WP from the company Process sensors to measure fuel and products from biomass. The sensor is located on one of the Vyncke company boilers. In the first part of thesis are introduced basic issues of biomass. Thesis also generally describes the control and dynamics behaviour of biomass boilers and the effect of input parameters on the output parameters. The last part deals with comparing and analysing measured values with the calculated values and effects of moisture content changes on the output parameters of the boiler. As the last issue is loaded conceptual design based on on-line moisture sensing and inclusion of auxiliary fuel control into the existing system in order to stabilize the processes in the combustion chamber and output parameters. This should result in lower financial demands during boiler operation.
