In order to do so, we will analyze its historical roots as well as its characteristics, starting from its theology and liturgy, analyzing through its political system, and culminating in what is expected of a Christian ethical conduct of a Presbyterian person, seeking to dissect it from other Evangelical churches. Also, we will make a panoramic observation of the ethnic, cultural and religious context, demonstrating the complexities of the Brazilian society for the establishment of a historic-reformed church. We will evaluate how the Presbyterian presence in Brazil occurs, based on its organizational structure and methods of expansion, and also observing the statistical data of the 2010 Census conducted by IBGE, the statistical data of the denomination Executive Secretariat and the 2008 Presbyterian Census. Besides, the legacies of the Modern period and the impacts of the period known as Post-Modernity and Liquid Modernity in our contemporary society will be considered, analyzing the consequences and their challenges for the Brazilian historic churches. / O presente trabalho tem por objetivo compreender as características da Igreja Presbiteriana do Brasil como uma instituição de origem teológica reformada, atuando no contexto multicultural e plurirreligioso brasileiro. Para isso, analisaremos as suas raízes históricas, bem como as suas características, que partem de sua teologia e liturgia, passando por seu sistema de governo, e desembocando no que se espera de uma conduta ética cristã de um presbiteriano, procurando distingui-la das demais igrejas evangélicas brasileiras. Também, faremos uma observação panorâmica do contexto étnico, cultural e religioso, demonstrando as complexidades da sociedade brasileira para o estabelecimento de uma igreja histórico-reformada. Avaliaremos como se dá a presença presbiteriana no Brasil, a partir de sua estrutura organizacional e seus métodos de expansão, e também observando os dados estatísticos do Censo 2010, realizado pelo IBGE, os dados estatísticos da Secretaria Executiva da denominação e o Censo Presbiteriano de 2008. Além disso, as heranças do período Moderno e os impactos do período denominado de Pós-Modernidade e Modernidade Líquida em nossa sociedade contemporânea serão considerados, analisando-se quais as consequências e seus desafios para as igrejas históricas do Brasil.
