This theses is focused on the difference in the organization of free time within the children's home and the children's home with school. In the theoretical part of this theses there is described institutional and protective care. There are also specified types of institutional care and facilities by Czech ministries. There are also explained the most common reasons for placement of children to institutional care and further specification of legislation and statistics of placing children to foster care. There is also explained the concept and importance of leisure in sections function of free time and in the views of leisure. The theoretical part is also focused on the personality of the educator. There are also described leisure places for free time in children's homes and children's homes with school. The last important point in the theoretical part is the chapter of significant differences in the work of the children's home and the children's home with school. In the practical part, there are compared two children's homes and two children's homes with school using interviews and case studies. The purpose of this theses was to find out what is the difference in the organization of leisure activities and hinterland for leisure activities within the children's home and the children's home with school from the perspective of children and young people who live there and also from the perspective of educators.

The diploma thesis deals with the analysis of the education of pedagogical staff working in children's homes focusing on the field of career counselling within the Czech Republic. The aim of the work is to identify whether the acquired education and the possibilities of further professional education in this area correspond with the professional requirement for the optimal performance of pedagogical staff of children's homes. Based on academic sources and conducted research on partial topics, the educational need of pedagogical staff in the field of career counselling is set. Part of the work is an overview of currently offered educational activities in the field of career counselling for pedagogical professions in the Czech Republic. The final part is represented by an empirical investigation dealing with the identification of the rate and other circumstances of participation of pedagogical staff within Prague and the Central Bohemian Region on this type of education considering their subjective educational needs. 1 Summary Children come into the establishment for institutional education from families that did not fulfill their function or did not meet the basic needs of the child. The parents of these children often perpetrated criminal acts, were under the influence of alcohol, neglected the children or in some cases even mistreated or abused them. The family was for these children often a negative image. The children spent part of their lives in a non-stimulating environment. These families influenced the personality of the child in a extremely negative way. Children from children's homes show handicaps already at a biological level. These children tend to have lower body measurements values, they suffer from different health handicaps, psychiatric disorders, their mental capacities are under average, they have attention disorders, heightened affectivity, heightened aggressiveness, etc. Children come into children's homes from dysfunctional families usually in their later school days, consequently, the family has had great influence during their early childhood and in some cases also during school age or adolescence. The first part of my work is focused on the definition of homosexuality and clarifies some concepts and a summary of its history. Registered partnership is explained there, including its advantages and disadvantages. Furthermore it also focuses on the importance of family for the child and review of the types of foster care. And finally, first part summarizes various factors that influences children's psyche. The second part described the results of my survey which is focused on the public image of child custody to gay couples. It consists of several reactions collected from various chat forums and the most representative opinions obtained from questionnaires. The work is accompanied by five case studies and opinions from among homosexuals.

Intersections of Resilience and Holistic Education at a Children's Home in North IndiaTse, Vanessa V. 24 September 2015 (has links)
This study investigates the resilience of children living at Sundara, a home in North India, which serves destitute and/or orphaned youth who live and are educated on site. Despite the adversity my participants have encountered they are thriving spiritually, emotionally, physically, and mentally. My research examines this phenomenon and the holistic education practices that support the children in engaging the process of resilience. I employ two theoretical frameworks to illuminate both what is occurring (resilience) and how it is occurring (holistic education). As resilience is understood as largely an external phenomenon, it then follows that the children of Sundara do not necessarily arise from families with the correct genetic disposition to allow them to engage this process (although this can definitely be a factor). Rather, they are educated and raised in such a way to make resilience a possibility. I seek to understand the role holistic education plays in the resilience process at work in Sundara. To this effect, two questions central to my study are: What constellation of factors is present at Sundara that enables children to participate in a community of resilience? What kinds of holistic educational practices support the children’s participation in this community?
To perform this research in a way that honours the relational and holistic way of life at Sundara, I utilize a method inspired by photovoice and I draw upon poetic inquiry as a part of my exploration. My findings indicate that the holistic practices of the home create abundant opportunities for resilience. The three key themes that emerged were: reciprocal relationships, the holistic curriculum (moral and spiritual), and resilience enabling space. In addition, the home fosters a certain being-ness, a mode that the children and staff abide in that allows for greater resilience in their community. My participants appeared to be distinctly rich in spirit. It may be that out of such spiritual consciousness comes a greater ability to connect and engage the relationships at the core of the resilience process. / Graduate / 0515 / 0527

This thesis is a detailed biographical review of Brother Clement Sithole's life (1). This thesis traces Brother Clement's musical development, his acquisition of indigenous musical knowledge, and his application of this knowledge to his present experience. The purpose behind my enquiry is to
further understand the relationship between historical musical practices and the present world experienced by the individual. What is the impact of past indigenous musical performance on the performer? Is indigenous musical performance an effective way for displaced people to alleviate
alienation and disjuncture? What problems, complications, and contradictions are encountered by an individual when they attempt to use past musical practices to express their contemporary experience? The thesis is divided into six chapters. Chapter One is a general introduction to the Master's project. Chapter Two highlights Brother Clement's early years, and presents discussions related to the musical practices and cultural ideas acquired during this period. Certain childhood events are analyzed for the impact of these events on Brother Clement's later development. Chapter Three concerns Brother Clement's religious vocation and his liturgical compositions. Brother Clement has composed a number of religious songs for the umakhweyana bow and choral songs for Catholic Mass. In his compositions, he combines the text of the Catholic liturgy with
indigenous Zulu musical styles. I discuss how indigenous Zulu music has assisted Brother Clement to create a sense of individuality, place, and belonging within the context of the Catholic community. In addition, I analyze how these compositions have brought a sense of continuity to his life through easing the tension between his commitments to the Catholic Church on the one hand, and to Zulu culture on the other. I also discuss some of the problems, and complications, which Brother Clement encountered when he attempted to introduce these indigenous musical
styles to the context of the Catholic Church. In Chapter Four Brother Clement's work as a caregiver within his community is introduced. In
the late 1980's, he opened a children's home to cater for needy children from the Vryheid area. Brother Clement is fully responsible for these children. In the home, the children practice and perform indigenous music on a regular basis. Brother Clement has named all of his musical work,
including the children's home "Inyoni Kayiphumuli" which translates from isiZulu as "the bird that does not rest." The name is descriptive of his work within the abbey as a monk, and his continuous effort to transmit indigenous Zulu music and heritage to the youth. I focus on the impact of Brother Clement's work, and of the indigenous musical practice on the children from the Inyoni Kayiphumuli Children's Home. I analyze the relationship between the performance of past indigenous Zulu music and the introduction of certain moral values to the youth, and examine the relevance of these values in the context of contemporary South African society, in particular the national HIV/AIDS epidemic. Chapter Five provides a self-reflexive account of the creation of the accompanying video anthology. I discuss the relevance of video documentation in ethnomusicological study and analyze the relationship between the video and the written text presented in the thesis. Chapter Six serves as a conclusion to the thesis and presents an analytical summary of the project outcomes. I highlight the significance of this project and make some
suggestions for future scholars undertaking similar research. (1) In this thesis, I use the name Mpimbili when referring to Brother Clement Sithole's formative years, since this is the name given to him at birth. In 1956, Mpimbili was baptized and his name changed to Albert, therefore when

Dissertation serves for a cognition of a syndrom called psychological deprivation and subdeprivation. The theoretical part is used as defining specification the basic terms referring to the psychological deprivation, its characteristics and its manifestation. Part of the dissertation is also devoted to the subject of a substitute family case and children?s home as well. The practical part deals with the concrete research. There are two groups compared here ( children from the children?s home and children from functioning families ). These groups are mutually compared and evatuated on the basis of results achieved in a research of Prof. Matějček.
