Realizace projektu chlapeckého sirotčince v Mongu / Implementation of the Project Boyish Orphanage in MonguKRYGAROVÁ, Radka January 2016 (has links)
This thesis dedicates to implementation of the boys' orphanage in developing country. The project belongs to Little Noah Foundation, while significant partner for direct realization is non-government organization Njovu. This thesis is classically created by theoretical and practical parts. The theoretical part defines frequented concepts, informs about actual situation in the country, especially in west province of Zambia, and contains information about organizations participated into this project. The practical part continues to theoretical knowledge, defines goal and methodology of thesis and mainly presents results of its. The goal, which follows this thesis, is to map out the progress of boys' orphanage in Mongu. In the line with the thesis they are asked these research questions: Why was this boys' orphanage established in Mongu? How was the project progressing? What are the results of the project? I have chosen qualitative research to answer the research questions. During my residence there and active participating to realization of project (February December 2014) I have used methods of observation, questioning and analysis of the data. The results of this thesis are created by profound SWOT analysis of the project, approach of personal securing, describing of process of intake of children and case reports of adopted children, whose value is in demonstrating of local social reality. Numerous supplements illustrate presented information. Discussion summarizes and recapitulates results and their outputs are recommendations and notices for similar starting projects. Very important aspect for whole thesis is to implant it into the context of very different conditions. The contribution of the project is especially in promoting of family model of childcare in institution. Family character of this orphanage is specified by relatively low number of children and the caregivers are married couple with two own children. This thesis brings interrelated and concrete and detailed information about whole project and its progress. This thesis may be used like source of information about concrete project, like documentation of start of Little Noah Children's Home and as well it can be some kind of inspiration for similar projects in developing countries.

Důvody umístění dětí do dětského domova. / Reasons for placing children in an orphanage.NOVOTNÁ, Jana January 2018 (has links)
This Master's thesis offers the insight into the problems of institutionalised upbringing of children in the Czech Republic. It consists of several parts. The theoretical part deals with family as a foundation in the child's life. Furthermore, it describes family dysfunction and possible upbringing options, either in a foster family environment or in an institution i.e. a children's home. The next chapter offers further particulars regarding institutionalised upbringing. We can find more detailed description of all professionals involved in the placement of children and decisions which type of upbringing is most suitable for them. In the theoretical part we can find further division of institutionalised upbringing options, depending on which ministerial departments are responsible. The practical part is based on a quality research with the help of half structured interview with children in family orientated children's home. The research was conducted in a real environment to achieve the most accurate result. The interviews were conducted between June and September 2017. Several questions were put to five children from five different family groups who were put into children's homes after the change of the Civil Code. The questions were geared mainly towards the biological family, reasons for placement into a children's home. The main aim was to ascertain the reasons for placement into a home with the changes of the law no 89/2012 being taken into consideration. My next objective was to determine if placements into children's homes are desirable and beneficial for their future upbringing. The interviews were copied word to word and analysed with the help of open coding and contrast technique. The conclusion of the research has determined that the Civil Code changes are not always beneficial for the child or the institution where the child is to be brought up. It was further determined that placements of children without their assessment in an appropriate institution is undesirable. The thesis could bring benefits to other professionals who actively participate in the placements of children into care. To achieve this quality research strategy has been chosen. The resource of the data received were half structured interviews with the children, their lawful guardians and the children's home director. Further details were obtained from the children's personal files. The conclusion of the thesis could be used as a tool when decisions regarding placements are made as this would benefit the child and be in his best interest. It could be used as a source for wider public and professionals alike.

Rodina v představách o vlastní budoucnosti u dospívajících z dětských domovů / Family in Future-Oriented Ideas of Adolescents Living in Institutional CareHenyšová, Žaneta January 2018 (has links)
Reflections of an adolescent's own future may contribute to its future direction. The concept of one's own family occupies an important position in these reflections and, to a certain extent, determines their form. Individuals from institutional care have disrupted original family ties, which are supposed to negatively affect their own family concepts. The diploma thesis is based on a qualitative methodological approach. The family concepts of individuals both from institutional care and regular family environment are investigated under the light of individuals' future orientations. The semi-structured interview and projective graphical methods were assigned to six individuals from institutional care and six individuals from regular family environment. A qualitative analysis of the data gathered confirmed that the concepts of a planned family of adolescents from institutional care differ from those of teens from the regular family environment. Adolescents from institutional care lack the emotional aspect of the family, and the family is perceived primarily as an institution serving to protect its members. Moreover, gender aspects are more pronounced in their family concepts, especially in parental roles, than in adolescents from the control group. Differences between groups are also found in other...

Deliberate self-harm among adolescents in South African children’s homesPretorius, Sulene 26 July 2012 (has links)
The current study is motivated by the relative lack of research on the contagion of deliberate self-harm, research on self-harm among adolescents in children's homes, as well as South African research on self-harm. In this study, I explore three aspects concerning deliberate self-harm in the South African context: The perceptions of adolescents in children's homes concerning the possible contagion of self-harm; the frequency, methods, duration and severity of self-harm among adolescents in children's homes; and lastly, the motivations of adolescent self-harm in children's homes. I make use of both quantitative measures, being the Deliberate Self-Harm Inventory (DSHI) developed by Gratz (2001) and the Functional Assessment of Self-Mutilation (FASM) developed by Lloyd (1997), and qualitative measures, being the logbooks completed by participants and three semi-structured interviews conducted, to address these questions. The current study uses both the functional approach to deliberate self-harm, that classifies self-harm according to the four functions that produce and maintain such behaviour, and the environmental model that emphasises the situational influences on the contagion of deliberate self-harm. The findings of the study indicate that 10 of the 12 adolescent participants have experienced either the acquisition or episodes of co-occurrence of self-harm through contagion, both outside the children's homes and within the children's homes. The contagion of self-harm is influenced by the desensitisation and growing prevalence of self-harm, frequent observations of self-harm, close personal relationships between individuals who selfharm, and the influence of the visual media. With regard to the findings of the DSHI, the methods most commonly employed for self-harm in the study include cutting, carving words into the skin, as well as the breaking of bones; the majority of the methods had been employed by the participants within the last year; and the emotions present immediately prior to the episode of self-harm include anger, depression, sadness, frustration, anxiety and disappointment. Findings from the FASM indicate that the motivation for the majority of the adolescent participants' self-harm is 'to stop bad feelings'. Furthermore, the findings of the study indicate that psychological intervention may be available to adolescents in several situations; that the personal histories of the adolescent participants include experiences of physical, emotional and sexual abuse, parental unavailability, the observation of parental alcoholism, as well as the experience of human trafficking; and suicide attempts have been made by the participants following instances of perceived ineffectiveness of self-harm. From the findings, it is evident that the contagion of self-harm is no longer a hypothetical phenomenon. Further implications of the study include the need for continued research on the methods reported by South African individuals who engage in self-harm that are not as prevalent in other research; and the influence of the study on the development and implementation of interventions to address self-harm in children's homes. Prověření představ dětí v ústavní péči o jejich budoucnosti pohledem vychovatelů / Reviewing images of children in institutional care about their future with perspective of caregiversSihelníková, Milena January 2017 (has links)
(in English): The aim of the thesis is to compare children's ideas about their future after leaving institutional facilities with the view of caregivers. The diploma thesis deals with forms of substitute care, specifics of children in institutional care including emotional deprivation, preparation and leaving the children's home. It analyses children's ideas about education, employment, finances, housing, relationships with the original family, partnership, parenting, and rescue network after leaving the children's home. The thesis combines interviews with children focused on their life ideas and questionnaires that were presented to their caregivers to assess the reality and the possibility of their fulfilment.
