Validation of TAM Model on Social Media Use for Collaborative Learning to Enhance Collaborative Authoring

Alenazy, Wael M., Mugahed Al-Rahmi, Waleed, Khan, Mohammad S. 01 January 2019 (has links)
Increased impact of technology leads numerous studies to conduct research on the effect of social media on performance. Very limited of such studies have tried to observe and record the use of social media for collaborative learning as a way to improve collaborative authoring. This paper tries to the validation of the technology acceptance model (TAM) on social media use for collaborative learning to enhance collaborative authoring among research students. To achieve the study objective, this paper employed a questionnaire as the main data collection method and distributed it to 1118 responses of various researchers from the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) all of whom use social media. The findings were obtained via a quantitative research method, structural equation modeling (SEM-AMOS). The findings from our empirical study indicate that all the hypotheses were supported; we demonstrate that the use of social media positively and significantly related to collaborative authoring through collaborative learning between researchers in higher education. Therefore, the proposed model will help academic and decision-makers formulate the strategies that can encourage students and researchers to use social media to improving collaborative authoring through collaborative learning.

Design of an Intelligent Collaborative Authoring Platform for Interactive Storytelling

Liang, Fang Chi Unknown Date (has links)
Interactive Digital Storytelling (IDS) has become more popular these days. Some of the pre-vious researches about IDS have considered the design of story editor. Although they have designed the authoring tools for authors who may not have the editing experience of IDS sto-ries, they usually lack the features of enabling rich contents, easy-to-use, and collaboration among multiple users for IDS story editing. Our system, named iCAP, is an Intelligent Col-laborative Authoring Platform for IDS, using "The Theater" as the IDS animation platform. The iCAP system contains a graphical user interface for making the story editing process eas-ier and the storyline more readable. The iCAP system includes the collaborative features such as the settings of access rights, the parameterization of the scenario settings, the authoring logs of the collaborative process, and the intelligent error detecting tool that is used to detect the errors occurring in a story structure. We have conducted an experiment to verify the usa-bility and the collaborative features of iCAP. In addition, we have obtained feedbacks from the users about the advantages and disadvantages of iCAP and verified the value of the plat-form for IDS.

Out of sight, out of mind : how proximity influenced access during computer supported collaborative authoring

Herschell, Mary Heather 23 February 2011 (has links)
In spite of the popularity of technologies that facilitate distance learning, institutions still educate students who gather together in shared physical spaces. But now even these traditional settings for learning are more collaborative and technology-rich environments. Qualitative methods in the sociolinguistic tradition allowed me to attend carefully to the vocal and non-vocal interactions of students engaged in a computer supported collaborative authoring assignment. Three research questions guided my inquiry: 1) In what ways did students negotiate roles and responsibilities?; 2) In what ways did students negotiate access to their assignment?; and 3) what was the nature of discourse in computer supported collaborative authoring? I conducted microanalysis of the communication in online discussions and face-to-face discourse throughout an entire semester of one graduate level course entitled The Psychology of Teachers and Teaching. My data revealed that the online discussion forum, physical proximity to the computer during face-to-face collaboration and instructor influence shaped the students’ roles and responsibilities as well as their entry into the assignment. I propose a model illustrating how students negotiate entry into computer supported collaborative authoring assignments and discuss its implications for teaching and learning. / text

Ambiente integrado de modelagem distribuída para sistemas de informação na internet / Integrated environment for distributed modeling of web information systems

Pompermaier, Leandro Bento January 1999 (has links)
The main goal of this work is to explore some issues related to collaborative development of information systems on the Internet. A Diagrammatic Editor on the Internet (EDI) that supports collaborative specification of applications is described. This editor uses hyperdocument technology and funcionalities, offering features such as information sharing, collaboration between several authors, multiple views of the stored conceptual data, among others. EDI was implemented using the Java language, and designed with the purpose of being generic to enable the easy creation of specific editors for different diagrammatic notations. The use of annotations for the joint development of information systems on the Internet is proposed. With these annotations the development process becomes more collaborative and the quality of the final product may increase. Annotations are based on two types of users: the owner, who is an author responsible for the creation of a document, and the collaborator, who makes annotations on those documents. Annotations (identified by one specific colour) can be of inclusion, change and removal of concepts (views), or recording of comments.
