Use Of Color In Residential Buildings: A Case Study On Facades Of Apartment Blocks In AnkaraYurt, Pelin 01 June 2010 (has links) (PDF)
Color is a significant architectural element, which is open to become a major representative element in the process of design. This study aims to understand the limits of using color as an architectural element and discuss the transformative effects of the use of color with respect to meaning and design levels of buildings.
The study is composed of two main parts. In the first part limits of using color as a complementary and consequential part of design are discussed. The architectural understanding of color in the 20th century is utilized as the main ground for a contemporary case study. The case study in the second part uses residential buildings in Ankara as the main domain to understand the continuities and discontinuities between color preferences and architectural meaning.
The method of the study is based on comparison of the facades of residential buildings of various contexts, scales, languages and typologies in five different categories. The first category is &ldquo / The Figural Use of Color&rdquo / which is constituted by decorated facades. &ldquo / The Elemental Use of Color&rdquo / is the second category based upon the continuity between tectonic elements of facade and color. The third is the &ldquo / Material Color and Painting,&rdquo / which is based upon the color representations of the natural material preferences supported by additional painting. &ldquo / Tectonic Use of Color&rdquo / as the fourth frame implies color brought by the nature of the material. The last category is &ldquo / Monochromatic Use of Color&rdquo / in which the facades are colored in a single hue or different lightness of the same hue.

The vast availability of materials for façade cladding provides countless interventions in urban landscaping. We researched the verticalization route in the city of São Paulo for diagnosing available materials which were used in different moments of São Paulo\'s borough\'s occupation by buildings, going towards the transformation of Vila Olímpia, when high-rises emerge and fill the streets which were previously small farms and industries; now they give way to commercial buildings, catering to real estate speculation. As a case study, the Rócio Street was chosen was a symbolic representative of São Paulo\'s contemporary architecture for having architecturally representative buildings in its lots and allowing us to perform a wide and diverse chromatic study of its façade materials.

Composições cromáticas no ambiente hospitalar: estudo de novas abordagens / Chromatic compositions in the hospital environment: study of new approachesMatarazzo, Anne Ketherine Zanetti 04 October 2010 (has links)
This paper aims to analyze the chromatic compositions applied in the hospital environment, looking for a correlation between the colors used in the compositions and the physical, psychological, emotional and social well-being of the hospital patients, with a view to its possible influence in therapeutic healing. It started from the assumption that the built environment influences in actions, feelings and human emotions. The color, one of the main elements of architecture, participates actively in the responses resulting from human interaction with the environment. The study included questions relating to color in all its aspects and the many possibilities of its applications in architecture. It was also focused in the hospital environment, subject that has been under reformulations guided by researches in the fields of environmental psychology, neuroscience and psychophysics. Raising the recent conceptualizations and projective guidelines for the hospital environment design, it was possible to detect the chromatic compositions as elements capable to transform. Finally, to demonstrate the relationships established between the chromatic compositions, the design of hospitals environment and health promotion, composing projects named as \"Hospitals of the Future\", three cases were presented, whose projects representatively illustrate the issues discussed in this paper. By highlighting the function of chromatic compositions of the hospital environment design in the process of regaining the users health and well-being, the role of the architect as a central agent was demonstrated, enabling and creating ideal conditions for the therapeutic treatment and for the activities development. As a result of the research, it was identified that the design capable of these transformations must above all consider the variety of stimuli, and turning to the chromatic compositions, it represents the variety of hues, the contraposition of the surface brightness and the use of contrasts.

Architektonická studie sakrálního objektu a komunitního centra Salesiánského Brno - Líšeň / druhá etapa / Architectural study of the sacral object Brno - LíšeňHrubjaková, Petra January 2021 (has links)
By entering the diploma thesis is to create an architectural study of the sacral object and the Salesian community center in Brno - Líšeň. The first mention of the creating church appeared in 1987 and because of this reason Salesians came to this city, they focus on working with children and youth, according to Don Bosca. Their method od education was reflected in the overall project concept. The building will be linked to the existing object of the Salesian Youth Center, but it will also serve for a wider circle of believers. The consecration of the church will be a third divine person - the Holy Spirit. The object will be on the Horníková ulica, on the parcels no. 5037/30,32. On the plot with parc. No.5037/32 is currently a building, that is the property of the Nadácia pre radosť, and it will by removed during construction. The proposal is based on urban analyzes performed and responds to the surrounding buildings. It also affects the conditions of the building plot and uses terrain sloping. The proposal consists of one object that includes a church with a capacity for 400 seat and 100-standing persons with chorus, sacristy, adoration chapel and technical and hygienic backgrounds. Furthermore, there is a educational/multifunction room, workshop and store of religious products, farther the parish part with the apartments, office for priests and underground garage. In addition to the building, there was created paved areas for pedestrian which responding to existing communications. Due to the removal of the parking lot in the northern part of the solved territory, the existing parking lot was extended on the south side and there was also created a new communication for cars, which connects the Northern Street Horníková with Western. In this communication, it is necessary to create a suitable road signage to prevent the supply of vehicles and it must not be used as an abbreviation in the traffic jam at the 2nd grade road communication.
