A escassa bibliografia acerca deste tema motivou-nos a desenvolver este estudo.Os objetivos foram: verificar o entendimento dos enfermeiros membros da Comissão de Ética de Enfermagem (CEE) acerca do conceito de ética; investigar quais foram as dificuldades encontradas na implantação da Comissão de Ética de Enfermagem; levantar como tem sido a atuação da Comissão de Ética de Enfermagem, visando o cumprimento do seu papel e conhecer as estratégias utilizadas para o desenvolvimento do trabalho da Comissão de Ética de Enfermagem. Tratou-se de uma abordagem qualitativa, exploratória, descritiva, realizada em quatro hospitais de um município do interior paulista. Os sujeitos da pesquisa foram 18 (dezoito) enfermeiras, membros da Comissão de Ética de Enfermagem nos respectivos hospitais. Os dados foram coletados por meio de entrevista utilizando um roteiro norteador contendo questões abertas. A técnica utilizada para inferência sobre os resultados foi baseada na análise de conteúdo de Bardin (1977). Pudemos apreender que o perfil das entrevistadas não foi fator determinante para sua participação ou não, na fase de implantação da CEE. O conceito de ética foi manifestado sob vários aspectos, desde a forma em que se refere apenas ao ponto de vista da moral até uma somatória de valores individuais e sociais, imprescindíveis para o relacionamento interpessoal. As dificuldades apontadas para a implantação foram principalmente a falta de entendimento do regimento proposto pelo COREN-SP, mais especificamente do papel que a CEE teria que desempenhar, falta de tempo para participar das reuniões e o receio de alguns profissionais em participar da CEE, especialmente pela sua conotação punitiva. As estratégias utilizadas para a atuação acompanharam, de certa forma, o estágio de desenvolvimento em que cada Comissão se encontrava. Algumas se mostraram ainda incipientes, cumprindo o mínimo indispensável para justificar sua existência, outras investindo em parcerias intersetoriais a fim de mostrar sua importância. / The scarse bibliography about this theme motivated us to develop this study. The goals were: To check out the nurses members of Nursing Ethics Committee understanding about the concept of ethics, to investigate the likely difficulties found in the implantation of Nursing Ethics Committee, evaluate the acting of this Committee, aiming the meeting of its role and to know some strategies used to develop the Nursing Ethics Committee work. It is about a qualitative, exploratory, descriptive approach made in four hospitals in one county of São Paulo State. The Subjects of the research were 18 (eighteen) women nurses members of the Nursing Ethics Committee in these hospitals. The data were obtained through interviews using norms to be followed with open questions. The technique used to infer about the results was based in the Bardin Contents analysis (1977). We could learn that the interviewed ones´ profile was not a determining factor to their participation or not in the CEE implatation phase. The Ethics Concept was shown up under several aspects since the way in which, just the moral point of view was referred, until to the set of social and individual values fundamental to the interpersonal relationship. The difficulties pointed to the implantation were mainly the lack of understanding of the regiment proposed by COREN -SP , specifically the role that CEE would be supposed to play, lack of time to take part in the meetings, and some professionals´ fear of taking part of CEE specially by its punitive connotation. The strategies of action used follow in some way, the level of developing in which each committee was. Some appeared to be at the very beginning doing the minimal required to justify their existence, others investing in intersectorials partnerships to show their importance.

This thesis places the values shared by recreational hikers, backpackers, kayakers, and
others within the British Columbia Forest Debate in the second half of the twentieth
century. Using the 1985-86 Wilderness Advisory Committee as a case study, it argues that
the interpretation of the concept of “wilderness” expressed by these outdoor enthusiasts
can only be understood through the study of North American consumer culture. They
valued “wilderness” as a commodity, not unlike the ways that forest and mining companies
did, yet also expressed environmentalist concerns about protecting “wilderness” areas from

Investigating the existance of HIV/AIDS health advisory committee in selected senior secondary schools in the Amathole District Municipality schools in the Eastern Cape, South AfricaMbayeka, Sizwe Michael January 2012 (has links)
This study investigated the question: Have the Amathole District Municipality Schools and higher education institutions established and successfully run Health Advisory Committees (HACs) in accordance with stipulations of the National Policy on HIV/AIDS for Learners and Educators in Public Schools Act No.27 0f 1996 (DoE, 1996). The main focus of the study was to determine the existence and the performance of HIV/AIDS Health Advisory Committees in 16 senior secondary schools selected from the Amathole District Municipality in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa. The two main research questions which the study seeks to interrogate are: Does any of the selected 16 secondary schools have HIV/AIDS Health Advisory Committees? And if HIV/AIDS Health Advisory Committees had been established in any of the schools, are they managed in accordance with the stipulated guidelines of the national education policy? The decision to investigate this phenomenon stemmed from the researcher’s observation that schools might have failed to establish and to effectively manage the HAC. This assumption was based upon the fact that in rural schools located among the less educated and illiterate rural masses, semi-educated and illiterate parent members of the school governing bodies are more likely to be poorly informed about HIV/AIDS and might not be aware of the importance setting up committees and running them efficiently. The study used a survey as its research design. Surveys typically rely on large scale data, e.g. from questionnaires ,test scores, attendance rates results of public examinations etc., all of which would be enable comparisons to be made over time or between groups. Data was collected by means of questionnaires which were analysed using SPSS. The findings produced evidence that backed the above assumption. The study revealed that Data and the findings indicated that some schools in the Amathole District do not have HAC. Instead of HACs, they have other health advisory structures. However, parents believed that there was the need for HIV/AIDS HACs in their school communities as they were considered capable of addressing health related challenges/ problems such as teenage pregnancy HIV/AIDS diseases, hygiene and healthy living style among the school stakeholders. The study concluded that the existence of the HIV/AIDS HAC is essential and necessary in all schools as it ensures a healthy living in the school communities as suggest by the findings of this study.

The audit committee as an additional mechanism of corporate governance in ChinaLee, Pao-Chen January 2011 (has links)
As the title suggests, this thesis focuses on the issues arising from the establishment of audit committees in listed companies in China, which hitherto have been adopted by companies on a voluntary basis alongside the pre-existing structure of supervisory boards, rather than as a mandatory requirement. Regarding this unique practice in China, this thesis attempts to address three research objectives: 1. To understand the effectiveness of supervisory boards (SBs) and audit committees (ACs) in China. 2. To understand how the operations of SBs and ACs improve the effectiveness of supervisory governance functions in China. 3. To understand the co-ordination between SBs and ACs in organisations. The first objective is investigated by applying quantitative methods of ordinary least squares (OLS) regression and analysis of panel data. It is discovered that the companies with audit committees have more effective supervisory functions when companied to those without audit committees. The second objective was pursued by applying qualitative methods in the form of two case studies constructed using interviews and surveys conducted both via telephone and in face-to-face interviews. It is found that in both the case studies audit committees were established with the expectation of enhancing the effectiveness of the companies' supervisory functions. Furthermore, the face-to-face interview survey of five listed companies reveals that companies with audit committees in China still face issues of overlapping and missing supervisory functions between supervisory boards and audit committees. Thus the third research objective, regarding the co-ordination between the supervisory board and the audit committee in the organisation to find solutions to this very problem, is particularly relevant for corporate governance in China. This objective is investigated by interviewing two governors and conducting telephone surveys. The results highlight that there is the general expectation that these structures should be co-ordinated as one unit. There is also a demand to establish an independent control system to strengthen oversight functions, to reduce oversight costs, and to ensure the independence of the supervisors and audit committee members in order that they can execute oversight tasks, and to empower them against the executive directors and senior managers by promoting their status in the organisation.
